Congrats to John and Lisa Myung - Wednesday, August 17, 2005 12:43 PM
I was reding a review of one of the shows and it said James announced that JM and his wife had their second child yesterday. So congrats to them and I hope they raise a bad ass little bass player.

Congrats to JM if this is true. I feel bad for him. Must be really difficult being on tour and knowing your wife is about to give birth and you don't know if you'll be able to be with her.

I haven't heard anything about this until now and if it is indeed accurate, congratulations to John.  Hopefully the new little Myung is healthy and such.

Wow, this came as a sudden surprise to me. Don't band members usually announce that their wife is pregnant? I'm pretty sure Mike did. Doesn't matter anyways...

Congrats to the Myungs. I can imagine John being a great dad. He seems patient, understanding, and speaks only when neccesary.

This is true, last night at the cincinnati show James interuppted Metropolis pt 1 to make an announcement..."At 4am this morning John Myung's wife gave birth to their second child, a boy named Christian."  Jordan was playing happy birthday in the background.  What an awesome night.

Congrats

My hat goes waaaay off to touring musicians.  I don't think there's a bigger disconnect than that between the realities of life on the road and how it is generally glamorized by fans.  And if DT isn't one of the 'hardest working bands in the business', then they're way up there.  As someone who travels about 15% of the time for work, being gone and keeping the homefront happy and functioning (or rather your spouse keeping the homefront happy and functioning), it sucks, bigtime.  Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully John was there for the birth...

And all I can think about is a Myung song in the next DT album in light of the occasion.

That's gotta be so hard, being on tour during the birth- and then getting a few weeks home before heading to Europe for over a month.  Well, that's what he gets for being a wild and crazy rock star!

I remember when my son was born, I had a hard time running down to the grocery store for the first week or two. I can't imagine being half a country away.

Since JM is not one to talk a lot (as seen on DT audio comentaries) maybe he can teach his kid to communicate with him with complex bass melodies instead of words.

Congratulations JM!

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be cool if in 15-20 years time, all their kids formed a band?

Ha, how surreal would that be. Dream Theater II with Max on drums. I think I read somewhere that JLB's kid is interested in voice, come to think of it.
That would give a new meaning to "coming full circle", wouldn't it Mike?

Congratz John, Lisa and Brandon. All the best for baby Christian.

It would be cool if the DT kids form a mixed gender band.... Melody Portnoy at drums, Kiara or Samantha Petrucci at guitar, Brandon or Christian at bass, Kayla or Ariana Rudess at Keys and Chloe or Chance LaBrie.

I support Melody and the Petrucci girls in the instruments I stated above
