Actually getting them into HMV is up to the record label and I believe it's Century Media over there. So Mang needs to contact there label rep and find out why distribution isn't doing their job! Again this was the first tour in Europe/UK and it was VERY successful. They also met with the record co reps so things are starting to move in the right direction. However, it will depend on promotion, without it this band or ANY band has no chance for success!Again,  just saying that this style of music has a large audience, and YES with proper PR and everything, this band could out sell DT or SX. I do listen to the radio, like everyday, and this is exactly the type of music i hear on the rock/metal stations.Weather they are bands that started 10 yrs ago or the brand new bands popping up today. Amob fits right into that genre of music, they are not clones of Disturbed for sure but they are in the same genre of music. DT only sells like about 80,000 to 100,000, if even, in the USA only, and that isn't an accurate amount!!! I'm in no way insulting DT cause in the Prog world thats pretty damn good, with no radio play!!!!! So in the hard rock world that isn't impossible to outsell that, and SX I have no idea what they sell but I don't think it's even close to what DT sells. Remember I'm talking USA ONLY.
The question of SX, well, they are fine Russ is doing shows with them in Sept. He is the singer for SX and that is all there is to it.  There is no need for questions or speculations many people in music are in more then 1 band.  Disturbed is on a hiatus??? I know nothing about the internal goings on with that band.
I'd love to hear more of everyones opinion.
So, lets see, my favorite DT album I'd say Images and Words, well, Scenes from A Memory. I don't know I guess those 2 are a tie.
Just so you know I'm not insulting Prog, it's just not my cup of tea. However, I love the musicianship!! The playing blows me away. I just can't handle these songs that go on and on forever and the giant long solos/jam sessions, odd time changes, LOL!! I want to bang my head and feel the beat, I want to sing along to great chorus that repeats itself over and over and over and over and over, actually i don't even need to hear a solo at all the entire song could be one big chorus LOL!!!!! Sorry I'm just being silly, it's like 6:30 am and I have no idea why i'm up writing this I got to try to go back to sleep NITE NITE!

To me what's mainly different between AM and DT (and I'm talking about them specifically as well as the genres in general) is that DT seems to be more of a studio album band and AM is more of a live band.

What I mean by that is I love the music of both bands.  Whenever I do listen to AM I love it, I really do.  It's catchy, it's in your face, and it's everything I want if I'm looking for that type of music.  That said, I find that it isn't as often that I have the desire to throw that cd in as I have have the desire to put a DT (or other prog album) cd in.  On the other hand, when I saw DT a few weeks back I had a great time and musically they were great, but when I think back to that show, I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider it to be a bit boring.  I have seen AM twice now and I can tell you that one thing NOBODY can EVER say after an AM show is that it was boring.  The amount of energy these guys have on that stage, the amount of fun they are all having up there, and the way they interact with the crowd just makes it a great experience.  Both times I saw AM (their first show ever and their cd listening party) I was unfamiliar with the music for the most part, other than the covers and the songs that were on the EP.  For me to enjoy a show as much as I did when I really don't know the music I'm hearing is unheard of.  I can't wait to see them now that I actually know the music.  So that's what it is for me...  I love both AM and DT, I will buy every album from both bands, I will support each band every time they come around on tour, but they are just completely different and they have different things that make them successful IMO.

Totally makes sense to me. I think exactly the same way.

Well shut my mouth, looked on Spotify earlier today and the album's on there now. Got it saved on my phone (finally got Spotify working on there) so I'll give the album a spin.

So I bet you loved it when Mike brought home The Whirlwind :P

I honestly can see AM being more commercially viable than DT, someone already mentioned they are more about the live environment but also their simpler songs and more accessible brand of work makes them more appealing to the more casual metal fan whereas Dream Theater are a band which you kind of have to work with a bit to get into.

I doubt they will be a huge commercial success but I can imagine they'll carve out a nice niche and have fun while doing it, and as long as the fans who go to the gigs have fun too that's what really matters. I would love the opportunity to catch them live if they come to the UK again, last time around they were a bit far out for me to be able to afford the ticket and transport.
