Yup, I am playing. Having some graphics issues that are annoying. Hopefully they will get that worked out. I have the latest drivers, so hopefully they work out whatever the issue is over the next day so I can play without dealing with the random flashing textures.

Yeah, it's an MMO - the major difference is that it doesn't require subscription fees, just the one time payment for the main game. If someone could give a brief run down of the major differences between GW1 and 2, that would be appreciated. I'd love to try the beta but I can't on this PC/at this time with revision and things. I was a big player of the first and really liked the system. Slightly hesitant as to how the whole "simpler skill system" will pan out. Also, how are the Necromancers?

I'm really looking forward to eventually playing this, but I'm thinking of just waiting for the final release. Seems like there's always tons of bugs in these beta stages, I'd rather just wait until they get everything fully tested and patched up well. Some of the new classes I was reading about look like a lot of fun. I definitely want to try out the thief and engineer classes.

Admittedly, you can now enjoy Guild Wars 1 as a solo experience (because you can make your whole party out of AI bots who you've given skills sets to - 'heroes'). Initially it wasn't like that (you could hire henchmen who were AI bots, but they had crap skill sets... it's a lot of fun designing builds for the new style heroes, because they use skills in clearly different ways to a human). That said, not sure why anyone would start Guild Wars 1 now.

Thanks to Wey, I am now playing and you can solo with no problem. The cool thing is there is no camping or issues with a high level guy teaming with a low level guy. I am really digging this game.

Well, you could play it by yourself, technically, but certain parts are much easier with friends, and you'd be buying an online game that has a really quite low number of players. Plus if you want to play an RPG fully solo, you'd buy something like Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate...

I like the fact there is no longer a need for 72 people to group for a raid in EQ or the endless instances of WoW. This is more story based and while you can group, the game has elements of Elder Scrolls and Neverwinter Nights. So far, so good.
