So, the Jersey Dream Theater crowd really bites... - Monday, July 12, 2010 2:01 AM
I saw that MP posted on this, and I have to agree with him. Some guy behind me told me to sit down while DT was playing...
I told him he had better stand up because there was no way in hell I was sitting down! I was standing and cheering the whole time.

Dream Theater was great as always and MP's instore appearance was great too!

Sorry Jersey fans, I was disappointed as well....

MSG better bring it tomorrow!

What!?  I would have been pissed if some guy asked me to sit during DT  (although I actually was sitting cause I was on a very slanted area of the lawn)

I thought the crowd was pretty damn good for an opening band.  I think Mike is just psyched for MSG.  He's just pumping up the fans a bit extra.  NJ really was better then I expected.
Here I go, I'm coming downtown wanna look around your town, I'm gonna buy the biggest fuckin thing, And then I'm then gonna deep down, I gonna go, back home, with that fuckin thing ,Gonna give it to my, Wife Ya know What it is, I can't tell you But I'll be back next year, then you'll find out Yo! ~~ The Canadian Rap,  James La Brie

We were standing the whole time!!! They sounded great and put on a hell of a show.

This was my first Maiden show, man Dickinson has as much energy as my 17month old son.  How the hell does he do that!!!

Awesome night, had a lot of fun!!!!
A bad DT album (as if such a thing will ever exist) is 100x better than anyone elses good album.

I actually had a DT banner tonight. You guys may not have seen it. Unfortunately, I decided to go to this show a couple of days too late and got tickets further back because that's the best ticketbastard gave me. I'll be back tomorrow though with my banner!

Nicole,
Are you the girl that gave me the Bongo blanket today?
(I just tweeted about it!)

If so, I have to say that is one of the most thoughtful and kindest gifts I've ever been given by a fan!! I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
Me, Marlene, Melody & Max were almost brought to tears when we opened it up...it came out BEAUTIFUL!!
We will forever cherish it in the Portnoy home.

Please email Weymolith your full name (Weymolith@mikeportnoy.com) and I will leave 2 aftershow passes for you tomorrow night at MSG.
I'm sure my family would love to thank you in person!

Thanks again!
MP

That was a wonderful gift and very thoughtful of you. Anyone who has had, and lost a pet knows how special something like that would be.

That's so nice of Nicole and Mike. I feel all warm inside now. I only wish I could see DT this year. I could only justify a $600 plane ticket when you guys did Evening Withs.

Up in the balcony, I got yelled at to "sit down" at a show in Minneapolis a few years ago during the song "In the Prescence of Enemies" when the quieter middle section came around.  It went like this....

Random dude: Ok, you can sit down now.

Me: What for?

Dude: Nobody else is standing up.

Me (pointing at main floor audience): Everybody down there is.

Dude: ...

A few teenage kids in the row behind me who weren't a part of that guy's group saw the conversation and they stood up shortly after.  We might've been the only 5 people standing in our area, but we were loving every minute of that show.
My name is DOOM, and I approve this message.

Last night was AWESOME! I only saw one Maiden song because of the aftershow (but, as Wey said, we know I was really going to see DT anyway ).

Dream Theater put on a GREAT show! MP was obviously so thrilled. It was great to see and I was SOOO happy for him and the entire band!! Before the show, people were saying that opening bands for Maiden get booed usually and a lot of people who didn't know much about DT were skeptical, but this crowd was really into it (with the show they put on, there was NO WAY they couldn't be)!!

After the DT set, I went to the aftershow in a back room. There were a lot of family and friends of DT and I talked to some really great people. I even had a conversation with John Myung !!! He has a very, very outgoing little boy who was running around taking pictures of anything and everything, and he would tell you how to stand!

MP was talking with a lot of people, so I didn't want to bother him too much, but when he saw me he motioned for me to come over by them. I was introduced to his family and we talked for a little while. MP was very gracious and thankful and told me again how much he loved the blanket . His family told me how much they loved it too and I talked to Melody and Marlene a little about Bongo and their other pets. I took a picture with MP and thanked him for the night and for everything he does for his fans.

It was a great night and I can't thank MP enough!! Thanks for everything!!!!

For those of you asking about the blanket...I can't take the credit for making it. After MP posted all of those pictures of Bongo, I did a search online to find a place that made them. This is the place I ordered it from...
http://www.secondlove.com/catalog/woven-moments-c-71.html
They do a really great job and were great to deal with. They sent it to me in a little over a week!

Thanks again, MP, for a great night and a great show!!!!

hey i was the guy standing to the right of you going crazy in the 25th anniversary t shirt. It was great to have you and other DT fans around me. It makes a big difference when other people are way into as I am. BTW. How did you get to go to the after party? It's my dream to go to one of those!

Jersey Fan Here, I was at the PNC show 10th row stage Left and I thought The audience was into it considering its an Outdoor Venue in the Summer and Dream Theater was the Opener. I never seen an Opening Act Pack em in at PNC like Dream Theater Did.  We here in Jersey are used to being called the so called Lame State, the Armpit of America, Ect. I have been a Fan of Dream Theater since 1993 and have seen them Numerous times.
They are a true Headliner Group!! They kicked ass on Sunday here in Jersey and I was Excited to see the Sea of people behind me getting into the Show!! So I had to add in my 2 cents here. New Jersey Loves Dream Theater!!!!!!!!  Some of the empty seats in the Beginning of their set belong to the Die Hard Maiden fans that enjoying the Tailgating Party Frenzy. What do you expect , this is an Outdoor venue, in July!! If you can't take the Heat all you soft Dream Theater Fans ! Stay the Heck out of Jersey!!!  J/K Please come Back!!! LOL!!!!!

Just one of the many reasons why we all love Mr. Portnoy.  What a great way to treat a fan.
