Hmm, if I got anything out of that it was that it seems Mike is pretty clear on the direction he and the record company will be going after the album and tour are over with...which is going their separate ways.

Ya know, people may complain about repeated questions, but when it really comes down to it...how many original questions of mass interest really are there? I think he pretty much covered everything the average fan would want to know with that chat and I also think the guy is alot more forthcoming than alot of other people in the business.

Hmmm...the AA saga played live in its entirety....I better wear a helmet to that show....could be some bumps and bruises in the pit at that one........thats gonna be a heavy night, yall.....word!

Anyway, thats all I got...missed the live chat doe to time constraints, but thanks Mike for providing some good answers and thanks to Wey for allowing them to be shared with the rest of us....nice job guys...

The moderator (megadave) forwards all questions to him, and MP chooses the ones to answer. That's what he said during the JP chat, so I'm ASSuming it's the same with MP.

I always wondered if SYMPHONIC MUSIC OF DREAM THEATER could happen, and 8V would be as likely a time to see it happen, live atleast, as any.

I asked 2 questions that Mike either passed on, or never got to. Actually three, but I checked in the chatroom at 5:28PM thinking that the chat began at 5:30, but I must have been an hour late or something since the chat had already began.

My 1st question "whoa, has the chat begun already?"

my 2nd question: "Is there interest in the band to cover a song by Jethro Tull and Faith No More live, and U2's "New York" as well?"

my 3rd question: "Mike, at the "DrumPad" show coming up, would you at all be interested in jamming with Zakir Hussein live if there was interest on his part as well?"

o well..maybe the next chat I'll get a question in

A lot of these questions seem like questions he's answered 1000 times, but I suppose it goes with the territory. Just hope Mike doesn't mind..he could even have a list of links or links to the FAQ with the answers, lol.

You and I may follow DT, know every detail and be fed up with the same old questions but the truth is that many people who attend those chats don't even know DT all that well. Remember that Gigantour is not just about Dream Theater. I'm sure many fans of other bands attend DT's chats just to "check it out", so those questions don't surprise me.

And anyway, the example question you gave wasn't too happy either. Mike's reply was more insightful than usual, considering he broke his influences in different phases. I, for one, wasn't aware that the KISS phase came after Zeppelin but before Rush.

All in all, I think this chat was very good and definitely much better than the first one. Thanks goes all the way out to Mike for having joined us yet again!

A master plan for the last day of the tour next spring, eh? Me thinks it is DT performing with a symphony. That would make songs like Octavarium, Sacrificed Sons and Scarred even more awesome than they already are.

THAT WOULD RULE!!! I've been waiting for that ever since I bought the Live Scenes from New York DVD.... I thought it would be cool to hear Scenes From A Memory done with an orchestra but now that Octavarium is perhaps my favorite Dream Theater album, hearing Sacrificed Sons and the Octavarium song would be teh r0x0rs!

Some amazing revelations in that chat:

1) Mike has plans for a DT 20th anniversary DVD, and it seems if he gets his way it will be an official release, not a YJR release
2) He's doing something big for the last show of the 8V tour, perhaps similar to the Roseland show on Live Scenes?
3) New Instructional DVD?
4) Toronto fans have something to look forward to
5) The classic album has been chosen and it's going to be awesome. Which is good, cos it wouldn't be good if he said IT'S GONNA SUUUUCCCKKKK!!!!
6)When the AA saga is done (probably 2 or 3 albums in the future) they will perform, and (re?)record it in it's entirety!
