Steve Johnson I am surprised at you! Red, "not fit to lick the boots of" Radiation or When Dream And Day Unite???? Simply stunning. Only Open Your Eyes can topple such an album.

Here's my confession. I don't "get" King Crimson. I've really tried to like 'em, and have to admit abject failure. Yes, I know Fripp is a genius who is admired by many brilliant musicians. Doesn't make his stuff sound good to me, though. Maybe it's just me, but as far as I'm concerned, the Emperor is butt-naked.

Albums that I would rate above Red? OYE, WDADU, Abba's Greatest Hits, er, well, practically everything I own, really. It's that weak. I would honestly much prefer to sit and listen to OYE 10 times in a row than put Red in the player. Really. It's just awful. You know by now that I'm a big classic prog fan who can appreciate a very wide range of styles, but if something is bad, I'll say so, even if it's sacrilege to many. I'm saying so now. None of Red is even acceptably good, let alone as brilliant as many say it is. Some of it is simply grotesque. Providence surely represents the low point of classic prog. A weak imitation of the worst jokes that 20th century orchestral composers could come up with. Dire.

Red? Pah! I spit on your Red! An awful album, not fit to lick the boots of any album by Marillion or DT. I'm sure it's very clever, but that doesn't make up for it sounding dreadful.

Red and Lateralus are simply great, but both bands have albums I prefer over those two. The Miracle is rather mediocre in my opinion and is definitely not a good representation of Queen.

Have to go with Awake on this one, had it been Aenima against it and I don't know if I could've voted for either one, love both too much to choose one over another :)

Those of you voting for MC have been quite vocal. I'm impressed. MC for me has always been a weak album. I've always thought Fugazi and Clutching were so much better. I think it's the last two tracks that kill it for me. There are some great moments on the album, but Heart of Lothian, Childhood's End, and White Feather just kinda bring the rest of the album down. Plus, I've alwyas thought the production on the album to be way too clinical and cold sounding.

Agreeeed :) I love Marillion, but MC is not even in their Top5 as far as I can say. IMO, Fugazi, AOS or Brave are much stronger. Never fell in love with Tool, and Awake is one of my Top10 albums ever, so it turned out to be an easy choice at the end....

AWAKE is killing in this 1, and I had a hard time not voting for it as it's my fav DT album, but MC converted me to Marillion and simply is a perfect album. SCARRED is a "perfect" song but album > song usually when it comes to perfection..in this case quantity is better..

WOW, toughest decision yet, but I went with Misplaced Childhood.

MC is my favorite album of all time, but Red contains my favorite song (Starless). I just feel MC is a bit stronger as a whole...

Awake is my favorite DT album, narrowly edging out my fourth favorite KC album and second favorite Tool album. Awake is in my top ten all time albums, and therefore deserves my vote.

But only because Open Your Eyes isn't in this contest.

DAMN!!! I Can't decide!! A bunch of my favorite albums ever in that list. My favorite by KC and my favorite by Tool, two of the few bands I like more than DT. If it was A Night At The Opera instead of The Miracle this would be that much harder... Hell, I'm voting for Red. It's just that good.

Edit: Wow, I just saw the preliminary results... I agree with Keith. This should be WAAAAY closer. I knew Awake would win, but damn!!

Aaargh, I can discount the Queen and Tool, I'm not a big fan of either. However the other three are a tough choice. Red was one of my favourite albums for the last 26 years but I do really love Awake and MC is a masterpiece methinks. Hmmmm, maybe Awake because it has the longest running time, maybe MC because of the lush production and great myrical content, maybe Red just because of Starless...

Decision time, Misplaced gets my vote but only by a whisker.
