(dlifesjrny)

 Mkay...itinerary explanation.
Land in Rome...go to Florence. From Florence, go to Venice. From Venice, go to Torella Del Sanio (near Campobasso, in Molise) for a wedding, the reason we went to Italy in the first place. Then...finished in Rome.
It all worked out well. I personally wanted to stay in Rome first, but there were three key reasons it ended up being better to finish in Rome.
1) I went running with the hordes to see the new pope announced at the vatican.
2) I got a photo color of the pope on the front page of a large new jersey newspaper :)
3) Ending in Rome made it a lot easier to get to the airport and fly home.

RE: Ciao Venezia! (Anthony)

Florence to Venice to Rome?! Well, in adition to that being an awkward itinerary that requires a ton of bactraking, you visited these cities in the exact opposite order of their awesomeness. Fool. Why didn't you let me help you plan this trip?! Hoser!

RE: Ciao Venezia! Opera theaters, chamber music groups, street musicians, everything. Very good vibe. I loved it!
I've just been there for a day, but I'll try to go there again sometime soon and spend a couple more days in that beautiful place.

RE: Ciao Venezia! These threads are much entertaining and I prefer reading something exciting about being on a nice holiday trip to all those "best drummers, etc." threads.

RE: Ciao Venezia! (dlifesjrny)

Well, I am here in Rome. I was at the Vatican when the new pope was announced, and came out to bless everyone on Tuesday.
I was amongst a throng of people and reporters today waiting for him outside his old apartment right outside the Vatican.
I got some PRIMO photos and can't wait to be home and share them with all of you.
It was like the running of the bulls on Tuesday....We heard the bells and ran to the Vatican. We were amongst what, a million people? It was a very unique experience.

Today after shooting pics, I was interviewed by Associated Press, maybe you'll see me on the news somewhere. I was wearing a chili pepper (the food) bandana on my head, ya can't miss it.

My pics may also appear in the Jersey Journal newspaper (Jersey City)...more on that later, now, off to my last night here in Italy.

Ciao!

RE: Ciao Venezia! When I was standing in the middle of the Amphitheater I felt like David Gilmore !

RE: Ciao Venezia!
