I saw them open for Billy Idol in San Francisco way back in May 1987. At the end of their set,Ian went and knocked all the drums over. The drummer was pissed off,I believe Matt Sorum took over after this guy had enough.

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (JazzCowboy)

Yeah, their latest one "Beyond Good and Evil" is a cool album. Probably the most "heavy metal" album they've ever done. I also like Sonic Temple, but there's something about the simplicity of "Electric" that I can't resist. It just flat out rocks!

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (Landon)

 Edie Ciao Baby

GREAT SONG

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (voodoo)

ORIGINAL: WhatWouldYouSay?

You guys should do "Rise" of their last album....that song kicks fucking ass!!!!

Word. Up.

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (DoctorX)

ORIGINAL: OblivionOcean

This band put out some amazing albums. Love, Electric and Sonic Temple were all great. I think their downside was much like the band Paradise Lost they could not really figure out which genre they were in, so they would jump around from goth, metal and rock. But still they have some great songs.

You'd be right, if it weren't for Beyond Good and Evil. Dayum, that was a good album. I wish Ian and Matt would come back for just one more disc/tour.

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (WhatWouldYouSay?)

You guys should do "Rise" of their last album....that song kicks fucking ass!!!!

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (Stud Cantrell)

Great band. I like a lot of their songs...Aphrodisiac Jacket, Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary, Ashes and Ghosts...etc.

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (Salmacis)

Love this band. They were huge when I was growing up, and I wore out my first copy of Sonic Temple (far and away my favorite Cult album) in the summer of '89 (a very memorable summer for me for a variety of reasons). Love and Electric both kick ass too, and I liked about half of Ceremony.

Flyin' high, ridin' on a medicine train.... never coming down!

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (los monster)

ORIGINAL: SoulMine

I'll have to check it out... Unfortunately it's not on the cd I have. Which album is it on?

dude,

it's on Electric. if you don;t have it, buy it now.

the whole CD kicks ass, but as mentioned, Peace Dog has this pretty tasty drum fill/guitar call and response section in the middle of the song. would make for a great "drum feature" in a cover gig without stooping to the total bombast of a full fledged drum solo.

RE: The Cult appreciation thread (SoulMine)

ORIGINAL: los monster

hizz-ell yeah! the cult rocks

you guys should consider doing Peace Dog too.

that opening riff, though super simple, really rocks. plus it has that cool powerful drum fills section.

PEACE IS A DIRTY WORD...

I'll have to check it out... I listened to them a little back in the day, but I guess I was so into Metallica and Megadeth that I didn't really get into The Cult all that much. These guys simply rocked!!! I can't wait to play Fire Woman and Love Removal Machine live! Oh the fun times ahead!!!
