And actually, I think it's my favorite FF game as well. It could be that it's the first one I played (I watched my brother play the others when I was a kid, but he wouldn't let me play). A lot of people don't really like 8, but to me, it was outstanding.

I love the story, it´s really deep. And I could relate a lot with Squall when I played it. Liberi Fatali and eyes on me are amazing songs, I´ll never forget the intro and the ending sequence, especially because I still play it alot

cause its too fucking easy altho 9 is easier...i beat 9 on lvl 1 for crying out loud!

9 was pretty easy, but that doesn´t mean it wasn´t a great game. I don´t think 8 was that easy, but the key for beating the tougher bosses were the limit breaks. Squall´s lion heart is probably the most powerfull move ever in a FF.

Other soundtracks I love are the Genesis Sonic games and Sega rally.

YES! When I was younger I spent more time in the options menu listening to the songs than acutally playing the game.

I feel alot better with myself now
Damn, time goes by so fast! The themes from that game are so timeless and intricate that a tribute project called Relics of the Chozo (available free, google for it) came to life, and contains some incredible material.

Metroid Zero Mission has awesome music also, but the resolution is just a bit low. The other entries in the series are also great.

Echo for Bloody Tears, as well as many other Castlevania themes. Not surprisingly, SNES Castlevania 4 had probably the most consistent good music overall. That, and then PS1 Symphony of the Night.

Also of course the DDR music is pretty good... heh

Agreed.

The end.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (Red XIII)

OMG how did i forget the super mario bros. games!

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (vedadrums)

I'd have to go with almost every song from the original Ninja Gaiden on the NES. Emotional, fast, and melodic. To be honest, the music in that game was the only thing that gave me the drive to get past any of those pieces of crap that would spin in circles in the air and shoot fire balls. Even though the music sometimes had a certain, Beverly Hills Cop sound to it. All in all, engaging and crazy catchy.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (the scottster)

I reckon Golden Eye has best music especially the first level Dam.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (Anahamkarah)

 FFVII.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (AstronautEd)

Ah, here's a nice can of worms to open...

My brother actually bought the soundtrack to Jet Set Radio Future. Everything that has ever been on a Nintendo console does that, the whole randomness of Nintendo is one the reasnos why i love them.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (NeiloMac)

Ah, Daytona. C&C: Red Alert had that awesome Soviet theme, and some other cool techno / metal tracks, and Red Alert 2 continued that trend. C&C Generals also features some very excellent, culture specific (depending on which side you were playing) themes.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (RoCkuS)

ORIGINAL: NeiloMac
* Sonic 2 (I totally love the Chemical Plant theme.)

YES! When I was younger I spent more time in the options menu listening to the songs than acutally playing the game.

And also, I think I am the only person in the world who thinks that the OST's to Shining Force I & II are the best ones ever. Everyone else hated them Chrono Trigger also has a great soundtrack.

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (MMhardKy)

I love the soundtrack of Need For Speed 1&2 Special Edition

RE: Video Game Music in General (whats the best) (JustinMM)

I always thought that the theme song to Battle Toads/Double Dragon (SNES) kicked big time ass.
