True. No offense to Mike Portnoy OR Mike Brown or anyone associated with this DVD, but that is just a cheap cop out. It sounds horrible.
I honestly think they were just being lazy with this, or maybe forgot they had to finish it (which would explain the long wait) and had to get it done quickly. Either way, I'm dissapointed. I'm not one of those "Never Enough" fans, in fact I love everything MP has put out, ever, but this is kinda weak. Just my $0.02.

No offense taken, but it really wasn't lazy or anything like that (it's actually easier for me if I have a seperate drum track). This wasn't a normal DT album where MP is in control of everything, so we just didn't have the isolated studio drum tracks available. Personally, I think the bonus material is worth the price of admission by itself. : )

Just received it this morning ... this DVD is awesome !!! One of the greatest progressive album ! Loved the bonus too!! (no TROTGH drumsolo ending :( ) Thanks to Mike and all the guys who worked on the DVD !!!

The releases are timed to events, usually an album release. We didn't make that deadline and we just made it for the next event which is the tour.. in some instances (such as this one) gettng a commentary track just isn't possible.

It's not that he doesn't do them ever, it's just when there's time in the project he does them. This one took about twice as long as any other drum cam I've done, it took forever to get all the footage and then sift through it, we actually wanted this released with the album...

Something like Score where my end is fairly quick it gives more time to do extra things..

Yes....different from most of my other Drum Cam DVD's....however, you'd find some very interesting fly-on-the-wall, behind the scenes stuff during the sections when I'm not playing....

I think Whirlwind is MP's best drumming to date. I wish the iso drums were mixed however. Good buy non-the-less.

Holy shit. Not many drummers have that ability to impress again, again and again. There is so much groove in that playing, it's fantastic! LOVE the ghost notes on the snare. What a great 6/8 shuffle.
