Hit my regular group session this morning and paid dearly for slacking over the last few months. No more bullshit; I am 100% dedicated to not let the gym slip from my priority list when the schedule gets insane, which it is sure to do, as I am in the last 10 weeks of my MBA program plus I just got promoted and will be taking on more responsibility at work. I will be there and be posting about it here!
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (SpacemanSpiff)

 2010 Stats

Swim: 82km; 34hrs (March-October: 11 swims/21.5km)
Bike: 2366km; 129hrs (correct time, but spin indoors October-April means the distance includes only outdoor rides - should be closer to ~4000km)
Run: 1467km; 115hrs (includes 1 on treadmill, the rest outdoors)
Races: 420km 19.5hrs

3*1/2 marathons (2 road, 1 trail) (PB 1:16:51)
1*10k (PB 35:43)
2*5k (PB 16:15)
7 Triathlons (2 sprint, 4 olympic, 1 other)

~300 hours, 4335km (not including spinning, should be closer to ~5970km)
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (aredore)

30 mins on the treadmill this morning then 30 mins on the elipitical after that. Which is an absolute pain in the ass.

Secondly, my gym is shut over Christmas and New Year (open a couple of days in between) - so that's another factor to totally piss me off.

On the plus side, my body does need a break after the constant brutality it has had to endure over the past 6 months.

I've just had to make do with Burpees in my garage and my chinning bar for some core work. Hopefully, I'll be able to sneak a couple of sessions in on Thursday before the gym shuts Christmas Eve - weather permitting of course!
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (Progator)

Did you guys pick up Bring It? You've motivated me that's for sure. I'm starting a fresh round of P90X in the new year, right now I'm just working on my routines. I had a year to practice them, I plan on doing the workouts 100%. Of course AB Ripper X I take small breaks, and to be honest I just do it on my own without the DVD cause I know it by heart. I do all 25 reps though.

Bring it, Cardio X tonight with some ABX
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (aredore)

Today is Plyo X, will be hitting it tonight, didn't get a chance to before work this morning. It is the transistion from phifer scissors (which I usually have to take a break after 13-15 for a second or two) into those pulses. That little area there hits me hard and is where I miss some moves. I am loving it. Loving P90X more then ever.

That is a pretty tight choice of workouts. A schedule I may keep in mind for the summer time. There should be no issues seeing results with that. My wife and I are in a situation where our only opportunity to perform the workouts are at night (beginning @8:30-9:00) after we get the kids (3, 4, 6 months) down to bed finally. My wife after birthing 3 kids in 4 years is not in the shape she is accustomed to being in or that I am in so she is more interested in the cardio workouts to shed some lbs. She wants to lose the 30 lbs that has been hanging around due to all the kiddos. I tell you, women get the raw end of the deal when it comes to having a family. Much respect earned and deserved. I digress....
So being that there really is no easy way for us to split our workouts and me do the full cycle and her stick to the more cardio based calorie burner ones I am just going to go along with her and like I said maybe revisit a schedule like you have created in the summer. Either way we are exercising and staying/getting in shape. I just wasn't expecting to put on that mass so easily/quickly. It is a good program if you stick to it and 'Bring It'.

Thanks for the encouragement, and good luck to both you and da wife. I do not have kids yet but already it is hard to find time.

I might not be seeing results but man, my arms are sore. No pain no gain right. My wife and I have been going strong since Nov. 1st. I love it! I like the assortment of workouts but in all honesty I cannot stand the Yoga. I understand why it's there and recommended but I have replaced the yoga workout with either Plyo/Core/ or stretch...however I am feeling that day. I did however miss the second week (Fri to Fri) due to getting a vasectomy. The Dr. highly discouraged exercise for a week and I didn't want to fool around and risk anything so I plan to tac that week on to the end.
Being that I know my will and desire I have no doubts I'll finish the routine at all. I am looking into getting 'Insanity' next. Has anyone done that one? Is it worth it? The promo's look incredible.

It turns out I may have spoke to soon. Given enough time, I'd love to even be able to hook into other data sources. So let's say you use something else to track your workouts... if they have an API, BAM, it's synced with Fitocracy. That's the hope at least.
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (JasonB)

Very awesome idea, Xenowang! The site is very cool and I have made my first entry (my name is PyramidHead). I keep track of my lifts on an excel spreadsheet, but keeping track this way as well would be a lot more fun...I will DEFINITELY keep using it
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (xenowang)

 Hey guys,

Hate to self-promote, so I'll try to keep this brief.

I mentioned this a while back, but I've been working on a web/mobile startup called Fitocracy with my best friend for the past two months. Fitocracy basically turns fitness into a gaming experience. The most intuitive analogy would be "leveling up your RPG character" in his/her fitness.

Think of the last time you increased your dumbbell weight 5 lbs, the last time you put two extra 10lb plates on the barbell. Felt great, right? Fitocracy tries to capture that awesome, addictive feeling, that same thing that keeps us going for more in the gym. With Fitocracy, you gain points/xp, increase levels, and unlock achievements, all as you track what you're already doing in the gym. As you level up in Fitocracy, you get harder challenges and need to lift more/heavier to keep leveling. The hope is that Fitocracy inspires users to do even more in the gym because of the gaming factor :)

I'm asking the kind folks in this thread to visit the site and sign up using the registration code: ALPHATEST. We need as much feedback as possible to make this a great product. Above all else, we want to know if this is something that would actually help motivate people in their fitness and/or make it a better experience. Does it meet a want/need, even if that just means being fun?

Right now we're in a heavy alpha testing phase but hope to go into a functional, private beta by next month. I will note right off the bat that our bug tracking list is huge and growing larger every day. Some things are broken and we know it. Some essential features aren't in yet. Hell, you can't even win any achievements yet! (God help us because I'm attempting to create those graphics myself and I'm no artist. Sadly, we don't have the cash to hire anybody for this). But all that said, feedback is always welcome.

I'm only letting a few people here and there see the actual site but I've spent so much time with some of you on this board and particularly this thread that I felt I owed the community a chance to see it before it goes out into the wild.

If you have a few spare moments, please check out the site and play around with it a bit. Please PM or email me at brian@fitocracy.com if you have any questions.

-Brian
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (Progator)

gmillerdrake

Progator

Congrats jimz! I guess you are the third one on the board to have completed P90X.

I'm shaping up to be #4 then.

Just to chip in here, on day 4, I don't do Yoga myself, but I do Cardio X, there's 10 minuts of Yoga and that's plenty. It is unfortunately the Warrior poses which are challenging, but at least it's not going on for like 40 minutes like on the Yoga DVD. I'm really getting serious about the program now, I was going to start in January but screw this, I started last week. Tonight it' Legs, Back and Abs!
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (spikelineus)

JasonB

xenowang

Had a great lifting session yesterday despite not having too many calories throughout the day. I chalk it up to the excess calories I had in the form of cheeseburgers on my cheat day last Saturday :D

375x6 on rack deadlifts, on track to hit 4 plates soon!

That's awesome, Xenowang! I'm sort of a deadlifting newb. I just started doing a few months ago and I was able to do a measly 260x9 last week, but that's a huge improvement from the 230x10 when I first started. For a long time I was under the impression that deadlifts were a waste and you'd just end up hurting yourself. Being an avid lifter for so long, I can't believe I was so foolish. Definitely one of the best strength building exercises you can do...if you don't have horrible form. My back has gotten bigger and I just feel more powerful. Hoping to be able to get to three plates on each side by the end of next year.

Deadlifts are amazing.

They make your entire body grow!
Re:The Get in Shape, Eat Healthy, Better, Etc... 2010 Thread!!! :) :) :) :) (gmillerdrake)

Progator

Congrats jimz!
