My mix was dissapointing as well. I played it on my 5.1 Surround Sound system which usually sounds awsome. However, I couldn't hear the orchestra at all, and the bass was very out of the mix as well. The guitar was fine, but the drums and keyboard could have been louder.

I'm hoping that it's just because of VH1, but regardless, the DVD is going to kick ass. 5 hours until the 29th :P

any one know the purpose of the mirror on the AM? I saw it on The VH1 thing and i was trying to figure it out. any thoughts? or did he post the reason elsewhere i did not see?

I TiVo'd the Concert, as I had a hockey game to play, but I was amazed by JLB's performance. It also gave me new love for Innocence Faded.

As far as the mix, on my TV, I heard the bas and keys very strongly, and the guitars were VERY low, especially on the UAGM solo. At first I was concerned, but then I remembered the mix was strikingly similar to the Budokan DVD when I first got it, and then I realized that I had to switch the audio to Stereo, and not have it on the default 5.1 option.

I'm assuming the DVD will not have these problems. Even if they do, they'll get fixed, just like the Budokan DVD issues were.

I was really happy with the songs they chose to air last night. I couldn't have been more thrilled to have them end with Sacrificed Sons, as it's my favorite song on that set list.

If that VH1 exposure turns any new fans into checking out the DVD, and they think Sacrificed Sons was long. Look out!

MP & JP's bit on Metal Maina beforehand was cool - I love how Mike described his kit as a "Drum Village"! Makes me wish I could do animation, as I had a really funny mental image of a drum kit with arms/legs/faces all crowed around MP like he was their king

This DVD is going to be fantastic. My jaw dropped during that whole hour -- would have been way better if VH1 classic aired it without commercials, but holy cow I can't wait. I had shivers down my spine reliving that show.

Still wondering if they played it in 5.1 surround sound or something cause the guitar didn't seem loud enough to me.... seem that way to anyone else?

I have a 5.1 system and also thought the guitars were too low at first.When I rewatched it later (I have it DVR'd),I noticed the guitars were almost completely coming out of the rear speakers (I think they were also the only thing coming out the rear speakers,but I'll have to check again to be sure).Turning them up louder than I normally have them really brought the guitars out,even to the point where they were too loud.

I don't know if the dvd will be the same,but that how the mix was on VH1C.

Just watching it on regular TV from VH1C I agree the Guitar is overpowering the rest of music. BUt I bet the DVD will be fine.

got home a little after 3am and watched the Metal Mania thing and then about 1/2 way through the Classic Concert i was dozing off. Had a long freaking day/night. Plus I also taped the season finale of PSYCH and the UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF GIANTS Jimmy Kimmel re-airing.

Woulda been cool to literally be watching this with everyone else live on the forum, but o well..I had a radio show to guest appear on and some cousins and aunt to have dinner with last nite

A friend of mine were looking to grab a bite in celebration of that radio show's last show thing like at Perkins, but we saw a Jimmy John''s nearby open til 3am. Problem was it was not staying open at 2:35AM when we got there. So we called them up and they said they wouldn't be able to serve us, but instead gave us both free cookies and two full length sub loaves and cookies free. So here I am when I get home at 3AM consuming this large honkin loaf of bread dipping it into butter and watching DT on my DVR and then dozing off, lol

Just finished watching SCORE and all I can say is that IT IS F'N AMAZING! I mean, there's just so much to take in when seeing it the first time that I you have to watch it over again to appreciate each song! The video and audio is technically crisp and clear and you really feel the energy of the moment. Now I know what they guys who were at this show felt, and believe me, goosebumps on every song!

Major props to DT and al the people who worked on this. I'll wait for the sanctioned SCORE DVD thread to come before I post reviews and all that, and when it officially comes out next Tuesday. 'Til then, another spin is forthcoming..

I watched it tonight while working behind the bar. We had the volume on like 40. No one seemed to mind and I sure enjoyed pointing out the fact that I was watching my favorite band while I was working. It was an awesome night b/c of that. Thanks DT!

Man, I thought the sound was great! I don't have 5.1. I mean, I could if I had 4 more speakers. Still, I thought it sounded great. I think it sounds better than LAB. We'll see how Score really sounds on Tuesday.

I have an entirely new outlook on SS! That song KILLED. Everyone was on. James was great, you could see MP buzzing big time in the beginning, and JR did some very tasteful tweaking here and there. So many DVD's to buy in the next two weeks!

My thoughts:

The sound was probably not formatted for my TV. I got very little guitar and some other things sounded off. Not a huge deal for TV.

James sounded KILLER. Pretty much nailed everything.

Couldn't really hear the orchestra that much, but porbably for the same reason that I couldn't hear the guitar.

Camera work was good. Kept the energy going, although it prevented me from spotting myself in the audience.

All in all, very cool to see such a strong sowing form DT actually AIRED ON TV!!

Actually it wasn't in 5.1, at least on my cable system. I have never seen any programming on VH1 Classic come in 5.1. I didn't have a problem with the mix at all.

It definitely sounded like 5.1 surround to me. I'm lucky enough to have that setup on my system. I thought the sound was excellent.

I'm so happy for James. I thought he really stuggled on the Budokan DVD (Jetlag), and as bad as he was on Budokan he was that much better on what I heard tonight on VH1.

Tuesday can't get here quick enough!
