I get a kick out of his show. I love fancy food, but I also love traditional stuff, just kicked up a notch, j00 know? Ever since we got iO (digital cable) in the house, my family has watched his live show every night. Very entertaining. Your thoughts?

Ohhh, I' ve been an Emeril fan for years now, used to watch him everyday, but as Suave said the novelty wore off. I still watch him here and there, especially since he loves firefighters! We' re trying to work out a deal to get him to come to our fire station during the Super Bowl in san Diego. My partner at work, his brother is invloved with one of those hip newer bands and Emerils daughter is a huge fan of this band (big enough to go to Australia with them on their tour) and said she' d hook us up when he' s in town. But I love his charisma and zest for life and cooking. His restuarants are very expensive, his fish house at the MGM in Vegas isn' t too bad, but his steak house, ouch! [:' (] All these guys make killer recipes, but you need to be rish to be able to afford to cook the same meals most of the time.

I was on the show about 3 years ago. I won 4 tickets through their website. He did desserts in miniatures. It was awesome I got to eat a Big Kahuna Cake. We sat right next to the band (Doc & Cliff) so I got a lot of TV airtime. I work in a building with about 5000 employees. The day after it aired strangers at work walked up to me and asked if I was on Emerli' s. It was a great experience.
It is pitch dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Emeril rules! I' m a big fan of the Food Network in general, though. I can turn it on and pretty much was any program that' s on there, minus Martha Stewart. I can only say that about ESPN Classic, and I don' t like some of the stuff the show. Therefore, Foodtv is number 1. I think Emeril, and others on tv, is just an outlet to do things that I can' t. Being a poor grad student with a meager kitchen it' s difficult to whip up some grand entree or appetizer. But it' s still fun to watch and learn:)

I don' t think Emeril gears his recipies towards a richer crowd. He just made burgers tonight, kicked up a notch, with Julia Child as his guest. He made some late night snacks using leftovers from his fridge the other night. You don' t need a culinary arts degree to understand half the ingredients and terms he uses.

My wife makes me watch the Food Network all the time, so I see Emril occassionally. He gets on my nerves sometimes, but he does make his show entertaining. I like the Iron Chef competition except for the dubbing. It' s like a bad Godzilla movie.

Been an Emeril fan for years! The man rocks and he' s a drummer. I had the pleasure of eating at his restraunt at Universal Studios in Florida. It was the best dining experience of my life. The service, atmosphere and food were all 4 star. Expensive? YES! but worth every penny. There is a cigar bar upstairs, just awesome. The Food Network is probably the most watched channel in my house. My girlfriend is hooked on it and needless to say i' m reaping the benefits! Scarred2112 - I love the Iron Chef show! But I think Emeril would give them a run for their money. Why? Because Bobby Flay beat one of them and Emeril is a better chef than Flay. Just my opinion.

I used to watch Emeril, but not as much anymore. Although like EVERY time I go by the food network, I see Emeril on. lol. Anyone remember that tv sitcom series he actually had? I never watched it actually, but I do remember passing by it once. Lately my g/f and I have been watching The Iron Chef when we find it on, and also have been watching the show ' Unwrapped' , where they show behind the scenes on how different foods are made, like candy, chips, etc. That one' s pretty cool.

The Food Network is one of the most watched channels at my house, but we don' t watch Emeril all that much anymore. Good Eats and The Iron Chef are by far the two best shows on there. I love the way Alton Brown explains not only how to do stuff, but why you are doing it. He' s very scientific about everything. One of the newer shows, A Cook' s Tour, is awesome. That cute, irritating chick that does that 40 dollars a day and meals in 30 minutes shows is cool too. OK, I' m hungry, gotta go eat now. -Kris

Just my opinion. Except the facts you' ve based your opinion on are wrong, Slappy. Flay was spanked (hard) on his first apparence on IC (on his home turf in NYC, no less), and could only pull out a much closer win when they had the rematch. The best part was the end of the first battle when Flay stood on his chopping board in mock victory, and was chastised for “disrespecting” his instruments. That sums up why I prefer IC - it' s the Zen approach. Vinman - Did you ever watch the horrific American version with William Shatner hosting? Taken out of its foreign context, IC doesn' t work. The dubbing is a large part of the appeal of IC.

It' s doesn' t matter how much you win by, a WIN is a WIN is a WIN. You' re right - " wrong" wasn' t the best term to use. All I meant to express is that Flay lost badly his first time, and while winning the second, didn' t overwhelm the IC like he was. A win is a win, but when points are measured, I think they do count for something. The American Iron Chef show sucked! It was so corny and lame. Good god, you' re right on that one. Some things shouldn' t be remade. IC is goofy/fun as a result of the cultural differences and dubbing. ICUS was stupid because it tried to be goofy for " goofy' s sake.:" CHAIRMAN KAGA RULES!!!!! If I could bite into a bell pepper and make that face, my life would be complete. /me renames my kitchen " Kitchen Stadium."

What I like most about Emeril (other than the fact that he' s " local" ) is that he takes some of the " mystery" out of cooking, and brings it down from the " chef" level to a level where even a shlub like me can think " Hey, *I* can do that." We watch quite a bit of Emeril at my house. I didn' t realize how much until my 5-year old started spouting a lot of his catchphrases - " BAM" ing all over the place, telling me that " pork fat rules" (even though she doesn' t eat meat herself), and telling me whenever I' m preparing something in the kitchen " I don' t know where you get your (name of food I' m preparing) from; but where I get mine, it don' t come seasoned" . It' s actually kind of fun. That channel just rules all over the place. I' ll also jump on the Iron Chef bandwagon - Bobby Flay is annoying, and his win in the second battle against Morimoto was a fix. I' ll second whoever pointed out " Good Eats" above - a quirky little show that seems to showcase Alton Brown perfectly. Also don' t want to forget " Unwrapped" - possibly the most interesting show they do. I mean, how did I live for 32 years without knowing how LemonHeads were made? Or Twinkies? Or Cheez Doodles?

2 other great shows to talk about (one was already mentioned). A Cook' s Tour - great show, he eats some of the craziest things and is constantly getting sick (no they don' t show him puking). He smokes and drinks like a sailor. The Thirsty Traveler - It a show about drinking, one of my favorite pass times. You get to go on tours of breweries and vineyards all from the comfort of your couch!
