Will Portnoy give his thoughts on Neal Morse?

I guess I can understand why he hasn' t at this point. Although with the future of TransAtlantic more or less gone I might expect him to eventually say something. But with his approach around here that or his feelings about Spocks now may not be expressed. Or maybe he is just waiting to see what happens with The Beard 1st.

Anyone else wondering?

I asked for this same thing when the original Neal leaving thread started, never got a response, hopefully through this thread we will.

I think that Mike will eventually adress this, snce we all know how much he likes Spock' s Beard and Transatlantic not being officialy over.

Has Pete or Roine said anything over at the FK or Marillion' s sites?

Well I' m not holding my breath on this! I don' t expect MP to comment on ANYTHING here for a long time, if ever, actually. [:' (]

Besides what could he say (publicly)? If I were to presume what he might say, this would be it:

" I' m sorry to hear about Neal' s decision to part with Spock' s Beard but support his decision. I' ve enjoyed working with him in Transatlantic and wish him luck in his future endeavors."

I think that would just about sum it up but what do I know?

Even if Mike did comment in a supportive manner or not, he' ll probably be drilled by somebody. Someone will not appreciate him backing Neal' s departure, or his remarks on preferring him to stay with the band, depending on what MP chooses to say.

You know how the trolls and critics can be. They think it' s open season all the time on the heart and soul of this website.

I was actually more thinking he' d be doing it via the Mike Portnoy Forum Newsletter or in the Hero Of the Day section.

He may give his thoughts, but probably not here. He doesn' t like " hangin" with us anymore (or so it seems to me).

Regarding Morse,

I can' t be the only one who totally saw this coming. It was blatant in his music and persona. But nonetheless...

I think he is making a mistake. I can respect his decision and am glad God is so important in his life, but I disagree with the concept of abandoning your talents in search of the light. I could see Neil wanting to take the band in a different direction (which they seemed to be headed in the first place), but I think God definitly instilled upon Neil Morse the talent of sound and expression. It will be hard for him to match that gift in other avenues of life. Good luck to him regardless....
