Yoshiki appreciation thread - X Japan

wow... just wow to see this guy's live performance..!
I just watched Visual Shock Vol.3 - their video compilation and some live performances... it's amazing!
he's such a great composer since most of X's songs are written by him..

Yoshiki rules, man! As a side note, I'd kill to hear DT perform Art Of Life as one of their covers. Awesome song, and it actually uses all of DT's tools -- good vocals, stellar drumming, and actual keyboard parts! It would be a blast to hear them tackle X-Japan's greatest song on their next stop in Japan.

+1 once again! Hehehe "Art of Life" is X-Japan's "A Change of Seasons"! Not only on the length of the song, but the quality of this piece is just as good as ACOS!

only know the cover of BLACK DIAMOND from the KISS tribute cd. I dont play any other songs as loud as I play that song. LOVE IT

X is simply godlike :D Yoshiki's the man, though it's funny seeing him at hollywood premieres with people like Virginia Madsen haha.

Ohhh, I remember downloading Art Of Life at some point in the past, but I can't remember ever listening to it. I guess I'll do it again, and if it's as good as you people say I'll be hunting down an album or two

I have a video clip of one of Yoshiki's drum solos on my computer. Didn't really impress me, just a 4 minute double bass groove while his drum stage rose up in the air. Might not be representative of his drumming though. I'll check them out!

I think Art of Life is an amazing song, would probably take it over ACOS if we're comparing "epics". But then again, there's a lot of their stuff that I don't find *all* that impressive beyond Hide's playing.

Another really cool song is the version of X from the (I think) 1991 Extasy Records Summit, where all the bands on that JP label did a tribute to X-Japan and played X. There was around ten musicians on stage, including two drummers, and it actually sounded really cool (for an already great song). And then about halfway through, X-Japan themselves run out to join it. By the end of it there were some dozen people there. Two singers, two drummers, I think two bassists, and then five or six guitarists heh. Impressive video to see.
