plz, what is "An Evening With Dream Theater"

Guyz, i am new in this forum and i would like to know what is An Evening With Dream Theater,I am sure you guyz know it because you say it a lot.

Dude, what it really means is that the show is done banquet style and usually acoustic when it is an evening with. That notates that it is more laid back and more intimate. Alot of the venues will ensure that you are of legal age to drink before you can enter....and even though you have a ticket, remember to call the venues box office to reserve a table early so you can be close to the stage.....usually dinner will be served with a dessert right after the encore. Enjoy yourseelf, but watch your tab....it can skyrocket at these shows if you arent careful and also remember that most of these shows do have a 2 drink minimum.

That was with that little Chinese guy wasn't it. "The Amazing Yen" I believe...he was great! I didn't like how they brought the elephants to march around the cirular stage during their encore. One blasted a giant turd and it bounced off the stage onto some ladies lap.




p.s. Evening with usually means 2 sets with an intermission...no opening act.

It's kinda self explanatory. It is a Dream Theater concert without any other bands opening and whatnot. When I saw an Evening With show in Kansas City it was over 3 hours long. It isn't dinner theater like the other posted claimed.

Uuuuhhhm Drum9let I don't know what concerts you've been to but my "evening with" concert was exactly like the others described......I had a great beef stirfry and desert was amazing, it was this flambee-ed (sp?) double chocolate icecream, it was to die for.

You should really go, it is pricy, but I mean to have DT play whilst you eat is amazing, they were in a joking mood and just as desert came along and people started to get a little tired they came in with "Honor Thy Father" and the whole crowd was up and going again.

Dude, no....that was the one show on the tour with a problem..Liquid Chicken was supposed to open for them but they couldnt cuz they were on letterman or something...all the other evening withs were with dinner..

yessir yessir, the When Dream & Dinner Unite show here in MI was cool. Kyoto's had a couple
of those big stir fry cooking tables set up and when DT played the "shrink and grow" section
one of those cooks got so distracted that he accidently tossed the shrimp down one of the
female audience members blouse. She stood up and yanked her top off because those shrimp
burned her mamories...MP looked over thought he was gettin' a flash. Great show.

My favorite part of the Evening With shows is when you buy the platinum package and get to choose one of the band members to be your waiter. That rules.

Actually on the whole dinner theater thing, it is not that far away from where I saw DT on the Awake tour. The Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana used to be much more of a dinner theater type setting than a concert hall. Back in the early 90's they had mostly tables and just a little standing room at the very fron and back by the bar. So if you wanted to get a good seat you had to make reservations for their horribly bland and expensive dinner. I remeber James making a comment about the dinner theater setting. Since then I think they have taken out most of the tables in the front so it is more like a typical concert venue.

It was a little surreal to be sitting there eating potato skins while watching Fates Warning. I'm pretty sure that either Setlist Scotty or JamesDP was at that show too.

oh man, what I love most about the Evening With shows is standing in line before the show. Stand there for hours, burning off fat until you FINALLY get to sit down and shove some food in while listening to Hell's Kitchen.
