Right.
I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent.

How in any way are you prevented from knowing what fisticuffs means by being in high school? I realize the quality of education is terrible, but you do have reading comprehension, right?

I knew what fisticuffs meant before I was in high school...

It means a fight. A proper fight... you know, with fists? FIST-I-CUFFS.

Vinnie would definately win. Mike would be like "I'm not going to fight you, Vinnie, we've known each other for too long!" And Vinnie would be like "Pussy...." BAM!!!

There is nothing wrong with you not knowing what it means. It would be easy to find out, being that you are on the internet and have a world of knowledge at your fingertips, but that's beside the point. I simply thought it silly that you said you were a high school kid, as if that somehow would prevent you from knowing. It isn't exactly forbidden knowledge, or something you would have to go to an institution of higher learning to study.

Oh, [/hijack].

Vinnie would be old and decrepit before Mike stopped working long enough to fight him.

all i gotta say to those google results are... BULLSHIT. Portnoy would beat the ever loving crap out of Vinnie Paul. Just cause Vinnie plays "Metal" and people say Portnoy is more Prog doesn't mean that he can't whoop the ever loving crap out of Vinnie Paul. It's really about age, speed, and stregnth... Who is older vinnie or Mike? Then you gotta see who is in better shape. last time I checked Vinnie Paul is fat and Portnoy is mad skinny compared to that dude. So I think Portnoy wins (what I said and was later quoted in PROGnostications)"Hand Down!". But that probably wouldn't happen... but it's fun to guess.
Mike Portnoy is the greatest drummer alive.

Ahem. Vinnie might have a pinch more -- in the built up anger department; I think we know what I mean.

Tale of the tape:

These are just guestimates (that means, I have no idea what I'm talking about)

Mike "ert my ass & Balls" Portnoy
Height 5'10
Weight 180
Righty

Likes to pretend he is a boxer by wearing boxing cape after shows.

Vinnie "Fucking Hostile" Paul
Height 5'8
Weight 215
righty

Known to wear big belt buckels.

Injury report:
Mike Portnoy -tendonitis of the right arm...this will effect his power.
Vinne paul-massive hearing loss...won't hear the sneak attack coming.

Lets get it on!!!!

I never got the image of them actually fighting in my head when I read this, I imagined it more of two kits about 50 paces apart and them whipping sharpened sticks at each other. Give it more of a gentleman's duel kind of feel.

Why bother, you're very amusing.

By the way, that Google Fight is a bit distorted since it doesn't look for the string "Vinnie Paul", it looks for documents that include the words Vinnie and Paul, not necessarily in conjunction.

My take on it goes like this:

Mike "ERT" Portnoy
5'6", 168lbs, righty (sometimes switches)
Facial hair - constantly changing

Vinnie "DOMINATION" Paul
5'7", 217lbs, righty
Facial hair - racing stripes with goatee

Round 1:
Vinnie Paul comes out strong in the first round with a flurry of heavy, blistering double bass patterns hoping to get it over with quickly.
MP counters with trading 2's and 4's that keep him in the fight.

Round 2:
VP keeps coming strong at MP with a brutal onslaught of pounding pocket thrash.
MP confuses VP just before the bell when he switches to a rapidly developing pattern that alternates between 7/8 and 19/16.
VP is saved by the bell.

Round 3:
VP seems to be fading a bit as MP continues to confuse him with moves such as "The Shrink and Grow" and "The Instrumedley".
Suddenly VP makes a comeback with his patented move called "Bass Blast from Becoming Beats Your Balls Bloody"
This time it's MP that gets saved by the bell.

Round 4:
FINAL ROUND
Despite his strong showing at the end of the 3rd round, VP is obviously winded now and Portnoy takes control. VP tries to keep pouding away, but MP does "The Dance of Eternity" and avoids the heavy blows.
MP continues to pepper VP with bits and blasts of Prog Power.
VP still somehow holds his own, despite the complex and confusing patterns thrown at him by MP.

DING DING DING DING

The decision goes to the judges:
The MP forum scores the bout 7,000 to 1 for MP.
The Pantera/Damageplan contigent scores it 1,000,000 to 0 for VP.
The Modern Drummer polls score the fight 2,000,000 to 1,000,000 for MP.

Final results:
MP - 2,007,000
VP - 2,000,001
The winner by a margin of 6,999
Michael "ERT" Portnoy!

P.S. - I suck.

Dude, Portnoy may be skinnier than Vinnie, but it doesn't make sense why that would give him an advantage. Vinnie isn't exactly a blob or anything. Weight can be a "massive" advantage.

OR, that he had money enough to order a custom made boxing robe... I'd go for Vinnie on this one... Him or Big Val
