I think mitch hedburg is insanely hilarious and original.I love his work. "im staying in this hotel room that has no 13th floor for supersticious reasons...the people on the 14th floor...you know what floor you really on...IF jump out the window, you will die earlier." Love it.I also think that jerry seinfeld shares that spot of favourite along with Russel Peters. If you havent heard russel peters you are missing out on an insanely hilarious man.Soooooooooo freakin funnyy!!!!!CHECK HIM OUT! ORIGINAL: Matika Goatboy wins hands down. I love Goatboy. I once got kicked out of the bed by my girlfriend for doing that impression. My favourite comedians of all time are Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Eddie Izzard, Doug Stanhope, and Joe rogan
Unlike the rest, I'm actually this much of a jerk in real life.

I just downloaded his latest stand up act from his website. He offers it for 5 bucks, as a way to combat piracy, I guess. It paid off. Dude made a milion bucks in 12days... Anyway, he only gets funnier every time I see his stuff.

Well, there are a number of people that are funny, but only a few that I a) look forward to hearing, and b) can listen to their routines over and over and still laugh. Ron White Chris Rock (one of the best of all time, in my world) Greg Giraldo Louis CK I tend to like comedians that don't shoot at easy targets. I think Bill Hicks is funny, but sometimes I think "is it really that hard to poke fun at religion and consumerism?" And I know he's not the only one (and even some I listed fall into that category at times) but still.
It might just be more of Les's weirdo weedy jam band bullshit...

I forgot to put Carlin on my list as well. Guy's brilliant. I saw him in Vegas (of all places) with some people from work. It was interesting and inspiring to look down my row and see a bunch of corporate people in blue oxfords and brown pants and loafers (myself included) and laughing uncontrollably at a guy on stage who was essentially ridiculing us and our life-style and our life choices for the better part of 90 minutes.
It might just be more of Les's weirdo weedy jam band bullshit...

^^^^^that is what great comedians do....they get you to laugh at yourself. You leave the show going, "Hey wait a minute...." Regarding Chris Rock - it took me awhile to get past the filth that he peppers his routine with (I'm one of those folks where less is more, if that makes sense) to get to appreciate this guy's talent. I'd also highly recommend his documentary, Good Hair. Not only was it funny but I learned a LOT about the amount of time and effort most black women go to for their hair. It was unbelievable. I had NO idea.

Comedians who make me think and make genuinely witty, clever observations are my favorite. That's why I love Carlin so much, and why he's my favorite above all else. I also like Bill Hicks and Patrice O'Neal. One-liners are hilarious too, so I'm fond of Mitch Hedberg (RIP) and Steven Wright. I used to be into shock comics, like Jim Norton and all that, but I've changed a bit over the years and don't find myself enjoying them anymore. Oh, and Greg Giraldo (RIP). Brilliant comedian. EDIT -- I forgot to mention... the blue collar comedians (Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White) all have some great stuff (and meh stuff). Larry the Cable Guy, despite the gimmick, does have some genuinely hilarious material, as do Engvall and Foxworthy, but all three are eclipsed by the genius of Ron White.
