Why Didn't TA release "We All Need Some Light" as

LuLu: Hi Mike, I loved this CD, especially the song We All Need Some Light. I tried to get WPLR (in Connecticut)to play it on their request lunch hour. They emailed me saying they couldnn't play it without a single being sent to them by the artist or record company. This has to be one of my favorite songs from anything that has been put out by anyone within the last few years. Why wasn't a single put out for radio play?

Hi Lulu, The wonderful world of radio & MTV isn't is as easy to crack as a simple request from a fan... There is MUCH politics involved and some trendy suit & tie radio programmer usually dictates the playlists for the DJ's... That is usually dictated by the latest single that a record company is currently "working". Which means that even during DT's heyday at radio with PMU, if you called and requested UAGM - the radio station wouldn't play it because it's wasn't the "latest" single... Nowadays, radio won't touch DT with a 100 foot pole...and we have a major label behind us!! In the case of TA, I agree....in a perfect world, WANSL would have been a *smash* hit. But the reality is, TA is on a "small", independant label that's not in the business of "working singles to radio". Inside Out (and Radiant) is in the business of making quality albums & CD's for the fans of the progressive rock/metal genre. They don't have the staff (or muscle) to compete with the major labels of today that are force feeding today's crap down the throats of radio programmers around the US... What a shame.... MP
