I just have one question though:  of all black metal icons we could have made fun of......why Gaahl? why not Varg? or Abbath.

Gaahl's time had passed. I refrained from Gaahl pictures for almost a year before bringing him out of retirement recently, because I thought he could provide us all with further amusement in his Tr00 Life Adventures.  I see no contradiction between my earlier statements and my current actions. So there.

They're playing here in November. I havent even heard them, and this thread doesnt inspire me to. They seem more immature than anything else!

GORGOROTH: Polish Authorities Drop Investigation Over Controversial Gig - Jan. 4, 2006 
 
In February 2004, GORGOROTH was at the center of controversy in Poland following a scandalous live performance in a TV studio in the city of Krakow.
 
The Norwegian black metal band were investigated for causing religious offense after a show that included dozens of sheep heads on stakes, a literal bloodbath, satanic symbols and naked, crucified women.
 
The concert in Krakow was broadcast by state TV station TVP and the resulting scandal was the center of attention in Polish media. The band were investigated for causing religious offense, which is punishable by up to two years in prison. The Polish police also investigated a possible act of cruelty to animals.
 
Nearly two years after the incident, the district attorney's office in Krakow have decided to drop the investigation into whether GORGOROTH committed any criminal acts, the Norwegian newspaper VG reports in its January 4, 2006 edition. However, the producer of the TV show will be prosecuted and faces two years in prison.
 
The police investigation concluded that the members of GORGOROTH were unaware of the fact that under Polish law it is a criminal offence to offend people's religious beliefs.

"Tomasz K, the owner of the production company Metal Mind Promotion, who produced the show, was aware of the fact that the stage set contained satanic symbols that could offend Polish catholics — thus being against the law. GORGOROTH Guitarist Appeals Sexual Assault Conviction - Feb. 27, 2006 
 
According to a posting on GORGOROTH's web site, the band's guitarist Infernus is appealing his conviction of aggravated sexual assault in connection with an alleged rape of a 29-year-old woman in Bergen, Norway in 2004.
 
Infernus (real name: Roger Tiegs) and a friend (whose identity has not been revealed by the Norwegian media) were found guilty of raping the woman last year. They were both sentenced to three years in prison. In early January, the court of appeals upheld Tiegs' friend's rape conviction, but found no evidence to support the rape charge against the GORGOROTH guitarist.
 
The actual charge Tiegs was convicted of is what is reffered to as "gross negligent rape," a provision introduced in 2000. In order for someone to be convicted of gross negligent rape, he would have to be seriously to blame for not understanding that the aggrieved person did not want intercourse. The maximum sentence for gross negligent rape is five years, but is being raised to eight years in more aggravated cases.

"I thought, Holy crap, dude, you just got hit by a train!" said Jesse Maggrah, 20, after being propelled 15 feet through the air. He suffered only a few broken ribs. "Maybe the metal gods were smiling on me and they didn't want one of their true warriors to die on them."

I didn't even realize that's where it came from. I found it on google. If that link doesn't work, look up "Gaahl" on google images and it''s on page 3.

That story still brings a disgusting taste to my mouth... I wish they wouldve gotten more time in prison for violating that law, and just being gross in general... Never have i been so digusted in my life...

GORGOROTH bassist KING OV HELL has quit the Norwegian black metal band. Hell made the announcement on the band's website, claiming he "has recently had problems fronting some of the ideological aspects of his band's agenda". Gorgoroth frontman GAAHL is currently in prison on an aggravated assault conviction and guitarist INFERNUS is appealing against a rape conviction.
