GORGOROTH Guitarist Sentenced To Three Years In Prison For Rape - May 8, 2005

GORGOROTH guitarist Infernus (real name: Roger Tiegs) was sentenced in a Norwegian court to three years in prison for rape. The incident happened April 27, 2004 when Tiegs, 34, and a friend, 32, brought a 29-year-old woman they met at a nightclub called Garage in Bergen back to Tiegs' appartment after closing hours. The two men allegedly punched the woman in the face and forced her to have sex with them. The defendants admitted that they had sex with the woman, but claimed it was consensual.

"The verdict is full of factual errors and lacks logic and reason. I'm convinced that both these men are innoncent," the defense attorney, Jørgen Riple, told the Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende.

Tiegs and his friend, whose name has not been disclosed by the media, were each ordered to pay 100,000 NOK (approximately $16,000) in court costs and an additional 55,000 NOK (approximately $9,000) in punitive damages.

Both men have appealed the verdict.

The 29-year-old, whose real name has not been revealed by the Norwegian media, was charged with a crime that carries a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.

The black metal vocalist was sentenced to one year and two months in jail by the Gulating court of appeals. The original 18-month sentence, which was handed down last May, was reduced by four months while the amount in damages Gaahl is required to pay to the victim was increased from 100,000 NOK (approximately $16,000) to 190,000 NOK (approximately $30,400).

Agreed. Like all genres of music, black metal has it's bad bands and good bands. Generalization is for the ignorant. Bands like Darkthrone and Gorgoroth can get rediculous, but bands like those you mentioned are fine indeed. So all you haters out there, read a book. Or in this case, buy a CD.

And I'd have to say those Gorgoroth fuckstix deserved what they got. They take themselves way to seriously, and if they're doing that shit offstage just to supplement their "rep," then by all means throw their stupid asses in jail.

I just visited the official Gorgoroth webpage. Wow. There were so many Photoshop and Caption This Threads waiting to happen over there. I would have to say they really are Teh TrOOest of TrOO.

I'm glad to see that there's practically a neverending supply of tr00ness (for us to ridicule) from this band.

I wonder if any of the major instrument manufacture companies are crazy enough to allow any member of this band to professonialy endorse their product.

Its obvious the drummer doesnt have an agreement because his cymbals are of various brands.

These guys simply cannot realize how serious the message they are sending is.

They may not believe but the masses in Central and South America believe in what they are selling.

Also I wonder if the nails in the armbands they wear are rubber? It would be hilarious if while headbanging he smacked himself in the head and couldnt bring his arm down from being stuck in his cranium.

Can anyone explain the purpose for wearing so much make-up?
 
Is it supposed to replicate the look of dead people or does it serve another purpose? I remember in the 80's when King Diamond was he only one wearing the white and black face paint but when I was in my teens, it didn't seem to be too far off-base because everyone else were wearing make-up in the hair bands but it wasn't white and black paint.

Norwegian Black Metallers GORGOROTH Face Polish Criminal Probe - Feb. 3, 2004

A prosecutor in Poland has launched an investigation into whether a concert by the black metal band GORGOROTH has breached the country's law protecting religion. The Norwegian band are suspected of having sent a hateful and offensive message with their performance Sunday (Feb. 1) at the Krakow studios of Polish Television.

The show, which was to be filmed for an upcoming DVD, featured two naked women (with hoods over their heads) and one naked man, all of them "crucified" and covered in sheep blood, a number of sheep heads on spikes and sheep entrails thrown all over the stage, as well as approximately 80 liters of fresh sheep blood. During the performance, which was attended by an audience of 300, one of the models reportedly fainted from the lack of oxygen. The TV show's producers, who were not briefed in advance about the nature of the concert, were said to "shocked" by the activities on stage. The manager of the studio, Andrzej Jeziorek, notified the police and the recorded footage was confiscated by the authorities as evidence of a possible crime.

The TV crew, who had filmed various metal performances before (including those by CANNIBAL CORPSE, CHILDREN OF BODOM and ANATHEMA, among others), claimed in the Polish media that they had never seen anything quite as "horrific" as GORGOROTH's live show. "We were not repulsed, we were terrified!" the camera operators were quoted as saying by the Polish newspapers.

The concert promoters reportedly defended themselves by saying that all the people who came to watch the show were satisfied and none of them complained about having had their religious beliefs offended in any way.
