The whole time I read that interview, I was listening to really happy orchestral music on TV, and I felt very, very confused.

There's a very cool documentary about the Norwegian black metal scene on You Tube (I forget the title now) that's centered around Gaahl and gives you some great insight into his peculiar mind. Oh, and it also allows you to see him without the make-up.

 
You fans of the mighty Gaahl should all watch this documentary. I was able to understand why he calls himself a weird person... He grew up in a small village and went to school only with another kid, until they were 18 or something. Then the guy commited suicide.

That documentry is amazing.  The bit where he takes the on a 'walk' to the top of the mountain was incredible!

And doesn't he say he lives 2 miles from the nearest toilet or something?!

Yep. That and the awkward (and also a bit creepy) ending are my favorite parts of it.

According to VG Nett, the former boyfriend of GORGOROTH frontman Gaahl (real name: Kristian Espedal), 20-year-old Norwegian modeling agent Dan DeVero, claims to have received death threats from the black metal community after Gaahl publicly acknowledged that he was gay.

In an interview that was published in the latest issue of Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Gaahl, 33, spoke for the first time about his sexual orientation, stating, "It doesn't feel to me as if I've outed myself because up until now the whole thing was a non-issue for me. All this evolved very naturally. I feel how I feel and I've never made any secret about it."

However, not everyone reacted positively to the news, and DeVero, who first met Gaahl in early 2007, says that he has received threats by phone and e-mail. "I'm going insane, but that's the price you pay when you come out in the media," he told VG Nett.

According to DeVero, he and Gaahl are still good friends. They have also have also since become partners in an unlikely venture — a wholly Norwegian clothing collection for women dubbed Wynjo, which, according to Gaahl, is an ancient Norse word meaning "the search for happiness."

I dont even know what to say anymore. The entire saga of Gorgorth and Gaahl has just become absurd. I dont even know how to describe it.

I know... it's really unbelievable how many twists and turns this whole saga has taken since my initial post about the Krakow concert. It seems like an eternity ago now, with everything that's transpired! LOL

Gaahl and all his ridiculousness are really quite funny. if you read through all the pages you would understand. It would also be worth it, there is some funny shit in here.

"It's absolutely fantastic," DeVero said. "By coming out, Kristian [Gaahl's real name is Kristian Espedal] is saving a lot of gay youths in black metal circles. He is an idol for many young people in the world."

This is kind of weird to me. Most black metal bands profess themselves to be Satanist, right? Arent satanists supposed to be about self enpowerment, being yourself, doing what you want, etc?

Gaahl and some buds of his are doing a cool project called Wardruna. It's a little similar to some of Ulver's aspects. It's got some chanting and stuff, and lots of pagan lyrics in what I assume is some sort of Norwegian. I really like their first album.

Gorgoroth guitarist Infernus is in stable but serious condition in a Bergen, Noway hospital this evening after having been brutally assaulted by the band’s former vocalist Gaahl who is currently being held by police. Reports are still sketchy, but according to one source, Gaahl tracked down Infernus at an abandoned laundromat and, following a heated verbal confrontation, the vocalist removed a spiked club from a laundry basket and threatened to strike Infernus. At this point, Infernus allegedly began mocking the name of Gaahl’s new band, God Seed, and called Gaahl a pansy. Enraged, Gaahl swung the weapon at his former bandmate so hard that the nails lodged in Infernus’ abdomen.

“I think Gaahl only wanted to threaten Infernus,” said the source. “I don’t think he planned to hit him, but when Infernus insulted him, Gaahl couldn’t help himself.”

After being struck, Infernus collapsed on the ground, and in order to remove the club, Gaahl had to plant his boot on the black metallist’s chest and yank the handle.

As a pool of Infernus’ blood spread across the floor, Gaahl allegedly rubbed both hands in it and then smeared the blood across his face and tongue. Seemingly energized, he struck Infernus’ prone body three more times while whistling “Singin’ in the Rain.” Gaahl then giggled like a schoolgirl, put his bloodied weapon away and skipped out of the store and into the night. Neighbors, who saw Gaahl’s face covered in blood, called the police and the vocalist was apprehended.

When his bandmate King ov Hell heard about what had happened, he laughed and growled, “APRIL FOOLS!”

Convicted Murderer VARG VIKERNES To Be Released From Prison - Mar. 10, 2009 Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Count Grishnackh) — the former BURZUM mastermind who is currently serving a Norwegian prison term for the August 1993 murder of MAYHEM guitarist Oystein Aarseth (a.k.a. Euronymous) and setting fire to three churches — will soon be a free man.

In September 2008, Vikernes's fourth application for parole was denied, but a couple of weeks ago he finally received the message he has been waiting for: after almost 16 years in prison, he will be released.

"I will have to report [to the parole officer] for one year — initially every two weeks, and then once a month," Vikernes told the Dagbladet newspaper.

Varg's mother, who last year wrote a letter to Dagbladet in which she argued that her son was being unfairly treated by the justice officials who repeatedly denied his parole application, is very relieved that her son will be able to join his family in Bø (a municipality in the county of Telemark, Norway), where he recently purchased a small farm.

"I am very happy that he has been so strong and that he held out," she said. "It will be good for the family that they can be together every day."

For the past couple of years, Varg has been allowed to leave the prison regularly to walk around Tromsø, Norway (where the prison is located) and visit his family: his mother, his wife, eighteen-month-old son and sixteen-year-old daughter.

"I'm ready for society — and I have been for many years," Vikernes told Dagbladet last July . "I have learned from my mistakes and become older. Now I just want to be together with my family. My mind has never been in prison; I think all the time about what I should do on the day that I am released." He added, "I have barely seen my son since he came into the world. Even though I hear his voice on the phone almost every day, it is very tough to not be present while he is growing up. I miss my family. And I look forward the day that I could work on my farm, create music, write books and be with the wife and kids around the clock — and live a normal life. I have received tremendous support from my family. It means a lot."

Last year it was reported that case workers at the Justice Ministry feared that Vikernes would be unable to adjust to life on the outside after his years in jail.

In denying his parole for the second time, the Justice Ministry emphasized that Vikernes escaped from prison in 2003 and that he has ties to neo-Nazi groups.

"I haven't been in contact with them for a long time. Police security services know this," Vikernes previously told the VG newspaper.

Considering that during his last leave of absence he fled and was discovered days later in a stolen car with assault rifles and the like, I don't think this was really such a great idea.

GOD SEED — the Norwegian band featuring former GORGOROTH members King (bass; real name: Tom Cato Visnes) and Gaahl (vocals; real name: Kristian Espedal) — has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"It has been rumored that Gaahl and King have disbanded GOD SEED. However, this is not the case. Gaahl has chosen to retire from metal music. It should not be assumed that this decision has anything to do with Gaahl and King's working relationship. Gaahl has made this decision for his own personal artistic reasons."

So does this mean that is Disco Tapdance album : Livin The Tr00 Life is coming out next year?
