Sidney Crosby or Tim Tebow.
 
Now I am not knocking their amazing talent but when Sid the Kid hit the NHL market, that's just about ALL you constantly heard about.
 
Now with Tebow's recent success, that's ALL you seem to hear about.
 
So which is more or has been more annoying?

I cant say cause I dont know anything about Sidney Crosby, but I feel that they hype for Tebow is AWESOME and I can't get sick of it. I LOVE it.

Man oh man. I spend a lot of time listening to sports talk radio as well as ESPN
and it's just gaggingly too much. I fear that they all think they will lose market share
by not jumping on the bandwagon.

Tebow all the way! I totally thought that he would stop cluttering my Sportcenter once he left Florida...but NO! The guy is still all over and 10x as worse now...those 4th Q comebacks cant always happen, so sooner or later, he will fizzle out...hopefully!

I say Tebow.  I actually love listening to the debate over Tebow but I think people's constant need to bash him for his religious beliefs are way out of line.  But as far as the sports only end of it, I think it makes for great sports talk.  You have a guy who does not have the qualities you expect in an NFL QB, yet he continued to win games.  As far as Sidney Crosby, as hockey is by far the least talked about of the 4 major sports, I never really heard that much hype on him.

But that's a lot of NFL outcomes. One can always sight luck just cause of how complex these plays work out.... There are a lot of NFL wins that can go either way if one or 2 plays didn't happen. We can't have it both ways though... if a team wins in a game, it was because they snapped the ball and executed the play right... it's either skill or luck.... As far as football goes, i consider that if a team won they played better... the other team did not play well enough to win... 

The difference, though, is this guy can't hit the broad side of a barn with the football for 57 minutes.   Then a couple of throws drop in and the Broncos win the game.  That looks more like luck than skill to me.  Even the game last week, about half of his throws looked terrible. 
 
Of course, his defense was playing lights out during that winning streak too.  That helps.

But if you take the Crosby pre-Cup and pre-Gold ... would Tebow still be your choice? Crosby definitely lived up to the hype, unfortunately his concussion issue is a sad story right now. The jury is still out on Tebow, will he get better or not? And yes his Defense is freaking great!

i am sick of hearing about TeBlows.  its not because of what he believes, it because when i watch him, i dont see a legit NFL quarterback.  crosby, on the other hand, is a marvel to watch, and even a non hcokey guy like me can tell that.
 
its like if youve ever walked by a pickup basketball game, and just watched for a few minutes, you can tell which guys are the more talented ones and which ones struggle to be out there.  tebow is not on the same level as any other mildly competent QB in the league.  hes winning because the team is winning due to luck and a great defensive play.

My answer to this is - I hate ESPN.

Seriously Tebow made some monster throws that game. Guys can't catch the ball if it aint thrown to them.... The kid has skill, he can throw it deep, he can throw it short. Is he a little up and down? Well yeah, but he's a rookie... But to attribute all his success to luck? In the NFL? NFL is I think the hardest thing to win on a fluke or luck... I just don't buy it being "no" skill and all luck. 

I find all of the Tebow hoopla very entertaining.  When you watch him play, it's obvious that he's not a very good QB, but he does have that intangible quality that makes you want to root for him.  And it's fun hearing the football experts work themselves into a lather talking about how bad of a technical QB he is.

I think that the "Hype" on Teebow is a bit annoying, but not Teebow himself. I applaud that he gives thanks to God for the gift that God gave him. Moreover, I deplore characters like Charles Barkley saying that Teebow is a "National Nightmare". The NFL, pro sports and most of popular cultural is filled with antisocial, knucklehead cretins that somehow get a free pass for their stupidity.

I LOVE the Tebow talk. People's heads damn near explode every time he wins, because he's not a polished passer and wins ugly. It just shows that all the "experts" on TV and prognosticators really have no clue what they're talking about.
 
Everyone seems to forget the kid is in his second year and only became a starter about halfway through this season. I think he deserves time to develop and progress, like every other young QB in the league. Most QBs look like shit in their first season...

Painted tbh, I don't remember what it was prior to Crosby's Penguins winning the cup, so I'm only speaking for after.

Yeah but it's either Crosby/Ovie or nothing, and with those options I choose C/O over nothing.  ESPN will do whatever they can to ignore Hockey.  Lidstrom, a defensemen, who was 40, played in a playoff game (April) and got 2 points.....maybe even 2 goals........but the next day on PTI we didn't hear a damned thing about that instead, we heard about Jamarcus Russell (AGAIN IN APRIL!!!!!!!!!)  and whatever stupid story involving a qb who was good in college but who hadn't done anything in the pros (AND OH YEAH NEVER DID)  Way to go ESPN, way to go..

The 2nd coming of Gretzky v. the 2nd coming of Christ?  Being a hockey fan, I voted Crosby.  Crobsy has always been a whiner, a diver, and a crybaby.  I'm not mad at Tebow himself, I'm mad at the millions of his supporters who think he should be shielded from any and all criticism because of his beliefs.   To paraphrase Gandhi, "I like your Tebow, but I do not like your Tebowans.  They are so unlike your Tebow."

This morning my local news played a little video that mentioned that Tebow's name was said 160 times in 1 hour on ESPN. That's about once every 22.5 seconds. RIDICULOUS!

Crosby is a legit proven talent, and I think the hype around him is justified.  Tebow hasn't done anything significant yet to the best of my knowledge...

I posted this earlier. It is Jimmy Fallon doing an imitation combining Tim Tebow and David Bowie singing "A Space Oddity" parody. Very funny!

Look, at least compare apples to apples.  Tebow now to Crosby now is a ridiculous comparison.  Crosby has played at a high level for seven seasons, and just about single-handedly carried the Pens to a Stanley Cup.  Tebow has played in 14 NFL games. 
 
"Hype" is what happens when someone makes a difference, and both players have made a difference for their teams.  The part that gets me is that I do think that Tebow is surrounded by hyperbole, both ways.  He doesn't suck, he is an almost unique brand of QB, and with some guidance and tutoring he can be Ben Roethlisberger, Part II.  He isn't the second coming, though, because just by way of example, the Steelers were VERY banged up, and were missing almost their entire starting pass rush (important with a scrambling QB) and his game-winning catch and run play was far more "run" than "catch". 
 
I will say this, however.  I don't care for Tebow, because I don't like that style of play, and I don't think, ultimately, that it is a sustainable winning approach at the pro level.  Some team (the Ravens?  Healthy Steelers? Patriots?) is going to beat him up, and by extension, beat him.  But I admire his tenacity, his will to win, and his emotional toughness, and as a sports fan, I wish there was more Tebow in the league than the current Mike Vick/DeSean Jackson/Chad Johnson (I refuse...) prima donna bull crap that doesn't win squat.

The Tebow thing is very entertaining.  You don't see Conan, SNL, and Fallon doing skits on Crosby - because he's unlikable.  Tebow himself seems to be a very good guy and seems to have handled all of this hype very gracefully.  Meanwhile, the folks who have canonized him are so freaking crazy it's fun to watch.
