    Oh, let's see.

Got a friend who is related to John Smoltz

Got a friend who is related to Bobby Rahal

My bro was in the marching band in 'A Christmas Story'

The guy in Redemption with myeloma came to the hospital I work at to get his treatment - same place Roy Scheider died, for that matter

My cousin did sound for Great White and was burned pretty bad in the Station fire - actually, when I visited him in the hospital, he got a call from Jack Russell.

Went to high school with - and was in a musical with - one of the Broadway 'Jersey Boys'

'My Summer Story' (sequel to Christmas Story than nobody saw) was filmed at my old man's school

I probably have a few more.

My uncle was in bands with Jon Bon Jovi back in the day, and also wrote the keyboard intro to Runaway and sang back-up vocals.  He was also a touring keyboardist/guitarist for Dan Hartman, Southside Johnny, and other popular folk.

My best friend since childhood has parents that own a catering business, and do work for a bunch of big venues in NJ.  They've met everyone possible, and are good friends with more big musicians than I've seen live.  I've worked with them occasionally in the past, and walking into my first day of work I immediately met Corey Taylor and the rest of Stone Sour.

My other friend's dad is Bob Dylan's sound guy, and he got me to watch the show from the side of the stage (monitor board), and eat backstage with the band and crew (which my friend from above happened to be working).  I didn't meet Bob, but my friend from above talked to his tour manager all night, and ended up getting Bob's autograph on the giant outdoor poster after the show, which is pretty much unheard of.

I was at the Score show, newest Yellow Matter Custard show, NYC LTE bonus jams show, Adrenaline Mob first show, the second Terminal 5 show on the DT fanclub CD, and my face is in either the newest TA or NM tour documentary (can't remember which).

Charlie Dominici and I had a public affair on Facebook for a little while, for any of you that remember that.  I put him in the thanks for my bands CD because of it.

I've served Queen Latifa a cup of apple cider.

This reminded me of a few more, namely the time my friends and I were in a cab on the way home from a Marilyn Manson concert circa '96 and Queen Latifah got out of the cab next to us at a light.  We rolled down our windows and all yelled "Latifah!" and she smiled and waved at us.

I met all 9 members of Slipknot in '99 when they were opening up for Coal Chamber and got them to sign a ticket stub.  Corey was really talkative and I told him that I almost crashed my car from laughing when I heard a demo of their's that had an audio snippet from the movie "Shakes the Clown."  He said "that's fuckin' awesome!"  He then quickly told me to hold his cigarette because another member was coming and would be pissed.  Also, Shawn (Clown) was sitting by himself behind a tour bus on the phone with his wife in Iowa.  I sheepishly went up to him and asked if he was in the band (nobody knew what they really looked like at the time) and he covered the phone and said "don't go anywhere, I wanna talk to you guys."  He hung up with his wife and came over and thanked all of us for supporting them.  Then Chris (other percussionist) came over and I bummed a cigarette from him.

Saw Limp Bizkit open up for Faith No More in a bar in south Jersey in '98.  Left the show and was walking out talking to Fred Durst.  I said that I really liked their set and he told me to go out and get the album.  Then I met FNM and had them sign my setlist and snagged a guitar pick.  Patton was interacting with the fans and signed everything but you can tell he's not into it.

I have James' lyric sheet to remember lines in Octavarium from the 'Score' concert.

My mother convinced a security guard to let me and my friends backstage after a "Weird Al" concert.

My mother's cousin who was in the original Four Seasons is close friends with Joe Pesci.  I still have yet to meet him.

My brother pointed and laughed at Richard Simmons as he walked by us in Newark Airport when we were 13.  He was in full workout garb.

Somehow my mom knows the actor John Saxon who played Nancy's dad in the original "A Nightmare on Elm St."

Is meeting a band member after a show a claim to fame?
I see such things  "met dude after show and told him the concert rocked" is not the same as saying "my brother plays in A Perfect Circle" and such.
I met many after the show, but any claim I have is lame.

The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
              Yes.
              May I see it?
              ...No.

Spiritus, you are probably correct, but since I don't have a brother in A Perfect Circle or a cousin in Penthouse, so.......

I sold a hotdog, to.. Jim O'Brien, in Chicago who's that you ask? The coach of the Pacers for the last few years.. I said "tough time to be a pacer fan eh", not having a clue who he was, but he had pacers garb on. He looked at me a bit confused and said "I hope not, I'm the coach!" I had a feeling that wasn't going to work out well, It didn't. Working at the Blackstone hotel on Michigan Ave. I got to meet a bunch of NBA coaches for some coaches meeting's held there later. Doc Rivers was the only nice guy. Lawernce Frank is stupid.

I met Tony Levin, Adrian Belew and Pat Mastelto this past October, that was cool, I got to high five Tony as I walked out.
Got to meet Bill Bruford at a meet and greet after his speaking engagement this past fall also.

I ran into Bill Murray 3 times living in Chicago.
I took a piss next to MP's dude Charlie Benante before the LTE show in Chicago a few years ago.. that was funny.

I've worked on some Land Rovers for Eugene Parker (big time sports agent.. Ray Lewis, Deion Sanders ect out of Ft. Wayne.) I asked him if Ray did it!!  Nice guy though.

Did a DT meet and greet.

I got to work on the set of The Delimma..  Ron Howard is a nerdy old guy.. don't believe the commercial.

Just remembered another one. Back in November I posted on the DT facebook wall that I had geard MM had quit Berklee and maybe that was the reason for him being the new drummer.  A couple of hours later I got a facebook message from Mangini:
"...I want you to remove that post you put on the DT Facebook page as that information is private to my students for the time being for reasons you do not know about. It was totally inappropriate that you posted that information and I'd like you to fix it please. I did not cancel any classes in december. You shouldn't mess with others' lives, especially the people your post is already affecting. again, please remove that."

OUCH! I felt really bad. So I deleted the message and replied to say how sorry I am. I told him how caught up I was with the drummer hype to which he replied:

"Jon - God will let you into Heaven before me because you're a good egg :):):) Thank you. There are just a lot of real people that are very affected by my helping them in their lives. You will not be the first to leak some information about me; I realize that. However, you'll be the first that I remember as being a stand up guy. I may even delete someone to add you as a friend :0 Have a great Holiday season. Mike"

Very nice bloke! He did add me as a friend too :) He also emailed me back in July for me to email him some photo's from High Voltage to show his family.
Hi, my name is Jon but you may call me Frank and I am an alcoholic.

                                    Just remembered more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darcy%27s_Wild_Life <----I was friends in high school with one of the actors on that show, Kerry Michael Saxena. You would never guess that he's a big fan of extreme metal. Also, the summer after we graduated, I randomly ran into him at a Dream Theater show in Toronto Funny how life works.
If Jurassic Park had been released a decade later into Samuel L. Jackson's career, the movie would have ended with him punching the T-Rex in the face and beating the raptors with their own tails while screaming something about 'holdin' on to yer butt'.

I've met and enjoyed beers and/or joints with many musicians including the guys in Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Between the Buried and Me, Vestascension, Evan Brewer, After the Burial, Veil of Maya, Cynic, The Contortionist, Tesseract, The Human Abstract, Scale the Summit, Last Chance to Reason, Protest the Hero, Psychostick...

Of note, Justin and Nate from Vestascension stayed at my house over the summer as they did a mini promo tour while following A Perfect Circle around. Justin is actually a close personal friend of Periphery and has been their tour manager on various occasions. They're totally cool and Justin had plenty of great Periphery tour stories to share.

Last Chance to Reason has also stayed at my house. They're a bunch of really good guys, (as well as badass musicians) and I actually discovered them on this site as their drummer Evan posts on occasion.

Last Chance to Reason was actually on tour with Protest the Hero, and so after the show I was invited on Protest's tour bus! I got to meet Rody (who is a personal vocal hero of mine), and drank some beer with my heroes.

I saw Tesseract on their recent tour with BTBAM and AAL. I was late to the show due to a detour in my normal route to the venue, and missed over half of Tesseract's set. After talking to the lead singer Elliot about missing their show, he proceeded to guestlist me on a later date I told him I might attend. Class act of a guy.

Last but not least, my prog rock band eBlue has opened for Psychostick before, back in May of this year. We're opening for them again in a few weeks! I'm super stoked.

And there ends my lame claims of fame haha

I've met Nelson Mandela - I'm sure you've all heard of him :)
One of the greatest moments of my life.
                                          We're all longing to belong,
We're all longing to be home
                                          Invincible young and strong
But we have lost it all
When we turn life into a road
                                          A direction towards a goal
Ending where no one really wants to go

I went to 'Whitest Kid U Know' Sam Brown's birthday party in grade school. I got him a Ninja Turtle.

I volunteered as a "Standard Bearer" for the Western Open PGA tournament in Chicago in the 80's.  I was the kid that would walk with the golfers with a sign showing their scores.   So on the course, it was the golfers, caddies, scorekeeper and me.

I got to walk 18 with Jack Nicklaus (he signed my visor and gave me a ball -- his own name brand ball "Nicklaus")  Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw, and one year, I got to get the winner on the day he won (he's a noboby now - Jim Benepe) but it was pretty sweet to witness.   It was also cool to have a standing ovation for Jack Nicklaus as he walked up to every green.

Also, hosting a metal radio show has gotten me many meet n greets and interviews, and a bunch with DT (before they started selling them).  One time on the first leg of the FII tour,  I supplied Petrucci (after an interview) with a video tape of the original South Park bootleg video and unaired pilot... with an episode or two I think.   A few months later, I got an email out of the blue from MP (thanks to setlist scotty!) saying that they lost it and wanted a replacement... so I made more dubs (even in PAL for the tour manager!) and had more episodes (comedy central wasn't as widespread back then) ... and with all of the different legs of tours for FII, MP and their tour manager hooked me up with after shows and tix for a few shows.  MP also got me on stage to watch ELP from behind Emerson on that leg of the tour. (Cool Story Bro!)

My step dad used to supply xray film to the Chicago White Sox, while I didn't get to really meet any players, I got a locker room tour and an autographed ball from the 84 team (Carlton Fisk, Tony LaRussa, Greg Luzinski, etc)

my dad used to baby sit for Bart Starr's kids

my dad worked at the mental hospital where Ed Gein was and met him

The "new" french drummer of pain of salvation is my oldest friend. We were fans in our teenage days and actually I am the one that gave him the link to the application document when I heard about it. (actually I also know one of the guys that applied for the guitarist replacement).
I had mattias eklundh coming twice at home because I organized a masterclass with him in my city and my sister organize metal gigs so he came back with the full band and they slept at my parent's house after a nice dinner!
Thanks to the masterclass organizing I also spend a nice evening with stephan forté from adagio, guthrie govan (that guy is great, we had dinner with another friend and we spent the night in a bar!) and christophe godin. I feel lucky for all of this!

I almost got into a scuffle with an actor from the show Beverly Hills 90210. On the show, he was dating the ugly blonde (Spelling's daughter) and he lived on a boat. I didn't watch that show and had no idea who he was, but he was a major asshat. Long story short, we were at an overcrowded, upscale Manhattan bar around Christmas time (1999 or 2000?) and I inadvertently (and lightly) bumped him as I approached the bar. He made a snide remark to which I responded "Sorry, but this place is way too crowded." At first, I thought he had giant balls when he said "Maybe you should f**king leave", since I outsized him by around 2 inches and 40-50 pounds, but I soon realized that he was with 2 other guys standing right next to him. No big deal, as I was about to order drinks for 9 or 10 of my friends, mostly males. We cursed each other pretty well and one of his friends stepped in and wanted to fight. I said "Sorry pal, but it's your friend's face I want to break". I waved over my crew who was standing about 15-20 feet away and that's when the bartender saw what was going on and got security involved. No punches thrown.
