Adrenaline Mob news does not seem to generate much excitement on this forum.  It's sad but it's true.  Yes it's very different and I do feel that it doesn't allow Mike to be at his best, but there are other projects (Transatlantic, Neal Morse, etc...) that will allow that from Mike.
But yes this forum is significantly less active than it has been in the past.

I check here now just to see what MP's up to because I am a big fan of his. BUT, without his being in DT, I've just lost a lot of the real "need" to be here everyday!
 
Really looking forward to see what he does in '12. I'm somewhat looking forward to the Adrenaline Mob cd & Flying Colours cd, but I'm REALLY interested in the Sykes project, while hoping for another Transatlantic &/or Neal Morse release (w/MP of course).
 
I think what would really stir this place up is if MP, JP & JR would get together for another LTE project with TL

Sadly I have not been on here in so long that I forgot my login info. I have been to busy with work and practicing 8 and 10 hours a day and as one poster said been on that time consuming FB

Hard to believe that once upon a time I posted a ton on here. Been banned twice, and in MANY heated debates over the years.
 
The past 2 years I have come here less, and less. Nowadays I visit maybe twice a week, and just skim through posts for about 5 minutes, and thats it.

Yeah, I think the two MAJOR moments of chaos (Mike leaving DT and the whole shitstorm around the lawsuit thing) caused a lot of people to either leave or be banned... especially the second event. Everyone was like "THE FORUM IS GONNA DIIIEEEEEE!!!"
 
I miss the photo contests, the hilarious threads, and just generally diverse discussions.  lets take a look at the first page of topics, you've got the following selection of conversations:
 
75% Entertainment (Music, TV, Movies)
15% Sports
5% Short lived "cool fact" threads
5% Threads discussing the state of the forums.
 
This is pretty much sums up what I've seen over the past few months.
 

Personally I've been really busy balancing working full time, going to college part time, and cramming in time with my boyfriend. I also don't have anything of interest to say.

It'll take less than four clicks from any wikipedia page to get to nazis, that doesn't mean everything has to be about them. It's a sentiment on political apathy.

Yeah, this forum definitely isn't as cool as it was a few years back.  Mike's leaving Dream Theater and the resultant careful watching of Dream Theater related topics mostly contributed to that.  

Still check out most days, but don't bother getting involved in the DT related controversy I'm over it all and would rather view positive topics.

still browsing but don't feel the need to post all that often.  also being on my like last last warning, means i've typed out pages worth of replies and then deleted them for fear of being banned. having to think carefully of what I post gets old very quick, and any really interesting topics seem to not last very long. no one's allowed to be offended here which makes for some stale discussion at times. I'm a big MP fan but a bigger DT fan and so i'm on dtf a little more than here, although still not very much.

Big +1 here. When we can't post opinions like we want to, is rather hard to sparkle a good discussion.

There's nothing wrong with posting your opinions as long as they aren't disrespectful to other users or meant to start flamewars... oh wait... I've said it a million times before and it still hasn't sunk in. Guess it never will.

Well, since the "quitting" thing happened just months ago, I think it would be cool to go back to speak freely of any band (In this case, DT), what do the moderators think about this? or Mike?

I have seen things here that are done right disrespectful and nasty. I have said it in another thread that got deleted, I thank Mike for sponsoring this forum. It is like being invited to a party. Its not good manners to trash the host. I don't know why people would do it here.

Huge + 1. I feel exactly the same way. And I reacted exactly the same way as well.

Unfortunately I have to say I'm in the same boat as most other people on here.
 
I still visit the forum almost daily, but I just don't find there are as many threads (if any) that pull my interest anymore. And when one DOES happen to, I'm worried about what I'm posting in case of copping the long arm of the MP.com law. And I feel like every one is generally on edge because of that, and opinions are refined and calculated and carefully written all the time.
 
Yes, the two threads for DT is also incredibly annoying. I just don't go in those anymore.
 
And I also agree with the comments about MP's facebook and twitter. Those are his main forms of communication now. I miss the days when this WAS a really tight-knit community, and I felt like we were MP's special fans. He posted here often and would respond to TV show threads, give us in depth studio updates, his Top 10 lists were just for this forum, 6:00 on a Christmas morning gifts (!!!)... there was so much. I loved it here. LOVED it.
 
Now it just feels like any other forum, and the only word we get from MP is generally just news updates that are plastered everywhere else over the internet.

The general feeling that I'm getting from this thread is that this ship is sinking, and it seems to be the case indeed. Just too many people bailing (and they aren't exactly bailing out the water from the sinking ship now are they?) and upset about how things are working around here. This place was once so much fun, but I'm really struggling to try and find reasons to keep coming.

check this place out every day or two, just to catch up on my news in all forms.
However, I must agree it is not nearly as fun as when I first lurked and then joined only to participate in the craziness.

I still occasionally check up here, but the flurry of September prog metal releases has come and gone, so that's one reason I'm not posting as much. Another factor for me (and probably others) is that I have no interest in any of MP's post-DT projects.

Depends how much free time I have.

I do think there was a correlation with a certain buzz in the Prog scene that started in the mid 2000's that has since tapered off a bit...

One thing i miss is being able to talk about individual DT songs.

Those were the days when you could have a few beers, be listening to DT, and go ape shit over a song and start a discussion about it.

Thats what drew me here and has since pushed me away.

For me, this was the de facto DT forum, cause ya didn't get the DT.net crazies. Plus, there was a little extra insight into the band. Now that DT is persona non grata, I'm kinda meh. Actually kinda meh on DT these days as it is. Tastes changing. I'll breeze through here periodically, but not so much any more.

So I dont want to open a new thread...but it seems that since this thread came out...ive noticed some changes.  We have new mods...old members are coming back and posting...old threads are being revived for more discussion.

No. Didn't notice.

The thing was that this was the place where we would get the DT news (most times) firsthand. Obviously large part of the forum members were DT fans. Since the nature of the bad break up, DT fans scattered elsewhere. Since DT can only be discussed in only 2 threads, it doesnt come as a surprise that people stop coming here.

I've been coming here a lot less about... the past 2 years or so.  Not due to the DT/MP split, just that there are a lot of demands on my time and it's hard to hit every single one of my favorite sites in any given day/week.
 
I will say that I lurk on this place a lot while at work.  Shhhh.

I wanna add this to what I said before, this might just sum it up for me.

I don't hate Adrenaline Mob.
I love the new DT album.  Its real real good.
Like someone said before, AM doesn't generate as much excitement.  MP should do what he did before to generate excitement, film a bunch of stuff!

No man can get me pumped for new releases like Mike.  His behind the scenes footage always made me twice as excited to hear the music (see: Systematic Chaos).  His enthusiasm is really infectious, and thats a big part of why I respect Mike alot.

So yeah...that might be off topic, but I wanted to say it...carry on.

I've kinda lost interest here too. I suppose (not that anyone's interested) it's because, with the events of the past year or so, I'm not holding MP on a pedestal and worshipping him anymore because of certain things here and there that have been said. Not saying this to be disrespectful or whatever - best of luck to him and stuff. I've very much lost interest is all. But for this one fan he's largely lost, there's another hundred or so he's gained I'm sure, so that's cool. 
 
Another reason is so many people I was interested in hearing from are banned now. Familiarity helps me to be interested and stuff, but that's kinda out the window.

Yeah, it's never a good idea to place such high expectations on anyone.  MP is a human being like the rest of us with the same flaws and fears.  He just happens to be a really good drummer who wasn't afraid to engage his fans - or possibly risked engaging his fans to stroke his own ego.  I don't expect him to be perfect and I'm not surprised when he fucks up because we all fuck up now and then.
