Jennifer Aniston isn't smoking hot.  I don't see how one can argue against that.
 
But she's got that something.  That thing you can never explain.  And that, to me, is what makes her higher than you'd think. No 1?  Wouldn't be on my list.  But I can see why people would think so.

Here's the thing.  There is no #1 in anything that isn't easily quantifiable, like beauty, guitar, art, etc...  Magazines do this stuff so people will read it and talk about it.  Sure fire way to get people to discuss your magazine is to publish a list that's asinine - even if the list is a public poll.  The public certainly isn't right all the time either, just look at our last few Presidents!

She is hot. But I bet they did a voting system where everyone voted for 2nd, 3rd, etc. Since she has such a welcoming, kind and inviting look, and basically attractive to all, she probably mopped up the lower votes, while others split the first place votes.

Everyone has different tastes.   
 
Alot of the women I think are cute, some men have called cows.  
 
But Kunis and Portman (to me) look like 12 yr old boys in drag.  No curves at all.  
 
Different tastes are what make the world go round, and as someone hinted, it makes any list pretty much null and void.    I think Aniston is OK.  At least she has some semblance of a body.  Unlike some of the microphone stands that some guys are into.    I'm surprised Olive Oyl from Popeye doesn't get throw around as a classic beauty the way some guys fawn over that "last chicken at the shop" look.  
 
But let's focus on the positives and not the negatives.  Let's appreciate everyone for their differences.   RULE 15'S ALL AROUND!!!

I guess I should just respect the fact that I could be wrong.. but I seriously think half the girls I went to high school with are hotter than her. But I respect yalls opinion of her looks, I am however left flabbergasted

I think it's the connotations of the term "hot" that throws people off. As suggested, things like this are wholly subjective.....but within that framework there are terms that help define what is suggested.
 
I think "hot" to most guys does mean the physical appearance......most esp. the body. But if you read more about the criteria used to explain the choice for Aniston it is more in line with what Spunky and Portnoy311 are pointing out. That it's more about the intangibles. Such as her warmth and her personality. They even mentioned that she was "funny".....which most people find very attractive. Also, that she gets the "sympathy" vote for her situation with Brad Pitt.
 
  Perhaps they should have used a different phrase besides "hot" to describe all of that.....one that is more  encompassing.

Rihanna is my number one at the moment by a long long way. Her looks and attitude are incredible!

Let us not forget Ms Aniston  has had a major nose job to look as good as she does today,check her out in the Leprechaun movie she was in with her original conk.

God DAMN! The Break Up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn was just on tv. I challenge any of you guys that don't wanna bang her to watch this movie without gettin a chubbo.

My #1 is actually someone I've never seen in a film before (go figure), but I absolutely love Sophia Bush - thankfully not related to George.

Yeah I read the criteria on the magazine site and it makes sense. It's just when I think of "hot" things about personality, being warm or welcoming aren't even qualities I think about. You dont need to be nice or friendly to be considered hot. Im not sure what that has to do with hot personally. 
 
I certainly wouldn't date someone stupid and annoying just cause they were hot but that don't mean they aint hot.

And if we're including musicians, Hayley Williams and Jewel top my list there.  Personal taste.
