I have been looking forward to this game for 6 months.  I was a little disappointed with the beta, the server issues on the 360 were driving me insane.  However, I will be at Gamestop at midnight of the 25th ready to pick this bad boy up.

Anyone else gonna be playing this on XBOX Live?

I find it hard to respect anyone's decision based on the gameplay/server issues from the beta. BF3 has specifically said that the beta was to test the backend and server strength first and foremost since they have six times the players on the BF2:BC beta and they don't want to go through a BF1942 (or 43 I forget) type crash again. The server issues on the beta were settled within days and then they updated the weapons and fixed certain inbalances.

Due to this excellent handling of the beta test, the final product is going to be very good and I can't wait to get it. Regarding the people who supposedly cancelled their pre-orders because of the beta:

      1) It's a Beta, not the actual game. It's not going to be perfect from the get-go.
      2) Do you know why they put out a Beta? To improve the final game.
      3) You should wait until the actual game is released before you get pissed regarding balances, server issues, etc.

Well, I already have it installed... just have to wait for it to unlock, haha. Wish it had unlocked last night instead of tonight. Would have been a nice day-off-from-work present.

My PC is for the most part BARELY above the minimum requirements, haha. I'm gonna have to seriously tone down the pretty to play it, sadly.

But it'll still be better than playing on console.

This. Once I finish taking my mid-terms this week, this game will consume my life.

Still on the fence about it, but i watched another trailer and tuned into the live stream that IGN did earlier today. They had a guy from EA answering questions and describing the various maps/gametypes/unlockables. Looked absolutely amazing. The gal from IGN was knifing like crazy, getting some crazy RPG shots, and even used a jet as a missile (flew to the edge of the map, banked around, strafed the main building, then ejected while the plane flew into a giant oil rig)! Awesome!

Jets are one of the things that I am absolutely pumped to try out! Not to mention that this game is going to be true teamplay. That's what makes these games so entertaining!

So, what does everyone think about BF3 so far? I've only played the game for 7 hours, so maybe it's too early to speak, but I'm pretty disappointed. Can't say why exactly, but the game is just boring to me. There's something lacking in the flow of the game, compared to e.g. Bad Company 2 which I liked enough to put nearly 1000 hours into it (lol). The kills just aren't rewarding. Overall it's too much like Modern Warfware IMO, another game I got tired of in an instant.

I've enjoyed it pretty well. It's so much more fun if your team plays like a team. I love to play assault and clear rooms around fallen teammates and revive them. Much more satisfying than killing enemies, anyways.

I'm digging the hell out of it. A good change of pace for me, since I've been playing mostly Mass Effect and Halo Wars for the last few months.

I've been playing it since it was released. Overall I give the game a rating of MEH... Definitely not as good as Bad Company 2. I'm really disappointed with DICE too... The game's right at about 2 months old and they still haven't fixed squads, VOIP, and input lag for ps3. Instead, they've been more worried about nerfing and buffing weapons. They've already nerfed stingers to the point where it's next to impossible to bring down a chopper unless they already have damage or your entire squad staggers fire at one. Their next patch consideration, they're talking about making guided shells only lock on to ground targets, even if someone "laz's" (sp?) an air vehicle. Add these to the fact that the stationary AA guns in the base are pretty much useless, and you're going to have choppers that are almost invulnerable. If this happens, the only time I'll play chopper maps is when I can be in the chopper or jet.

My initial review based on the beta (can read earlier post in the thread) - Pretty much same for the regular game. As soon as I find another multiplayer game that I like, BF3 will be going back to Gamestop. Actually, I'm considering just going back to play BC2 because I know a lot of BF3 players are going back to it because they're just as unhappy with BF3 as I am.

This! This sucks big time. (As  a foot soldier) You can only get them down with a Stinger if they have already been damaged & you're additionally lucky and stand beneath them so they practically have no time to use the flares.

Agreed ^^^. As an engineer/anti-tanker since BF2 this has been pissing me off. Don't care for the javelin lock on system either. I like the way it's in the other ones where I can shoot and guide the missile to the target myself. (cause I'm pretty damned fucking good at it by now lol, I even taken out jets like that) Is there a way to switch from the lock option to a guided one, cause I think I read that somewhere?
Great graphics are good and all, but if you're not happy with the gameplay and such, graphics will hold you only for so long.
Needless to say, I'm back to mostly playing BC2.

I liked it a lot when I first got it. Played it a ton. I don't dislike it now or anything... I just find other games more fun. Hm. It's not as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be, but it's far from a brilliant, engaging combat game.
The problem is, or rather one of the problems, for there are many, a sizable number of which are continually clogging up the civil, commercial, and criminal courts in all areas of the Galaxy, and especially, where possible, the more corrupt ones, this.

I enjoy it quite a lot. But then again I'm not very critical of games.

I am really enjoying the game. I am normally a huge COD guy, but the multiplayer just ticked me off. I decided to get BF3, even though I didn't like Bad Company 2. I got it at midnight the night it came out, and have loved every minute of it. Just got Back To Karkland, and it is much better than any COD map pack.

My biggest issue is that the enemies can often push the team back to the point where they're spawn killing them.  Of course, the obligatory reply is "don't suck, then" - but it's not so easy to do when you join in the game and your team is already getting pummeled mercilessly.  A big offender of this is Noshahr Canals.  Also (and this kind of ties in with Nashahr Canals), I hate how you can repair light helicopters in-air.  That makes them extremely cheap and takes all of the skill out of flying them.

Other than that and the usual amount of frustration from any Battlefield game, I enjoy it.  Helicopters and Jets are extremely fun and satisfying to fly.

I see it more on the Op: Metro map. 90% of the time you're either base raping or being base raped.

I heard that DICE has considered making the repair torch "cool down" sooner than it does currently in their next patch. If they do, this will help some.

The map is definitely open for it to happen, but I've been lucky enough to have the most of my battles centered around B for the majority of the match.  I also rarely play that map, for whatever reason.

Absolutely, Métro is predestined for base raping. I've seldomly played a round on that map where the teams were nicely balanced. It always comes down to one team being base raped.
