I was thinking of this the other day. Symphony X's "Walls of Babylon" has at least 3 minutes of introductory music, before the "meat" of the song. I mentioned that to some less-than proggy people, and they were gobsmacked. Well, for 5 seconds at least, before they ignored me again.

And 4/4 can be so funky! The first time it got me was when I was trying to drum to Panic Attack, it's all in 5 and then a 4 bar thrown in and I kept thinking 'wtf was that!' Once I realised it was 4 I was sweet though lol. And slightly related, Haken's new song Deathless has an amazing outro that's in 6, but still kinda feels like it's in an odd time. Strange.

My son's 1st grade class has a tooth book that they bring home after they lose a tooth. They are supposed to draw a picture and say what they think the tooth fairy did with their tooth.  Since he lost it on 2/1/12, he said she used it as a guitar pic and tried to draw a picture of Rush.  I'm sure his teacher will have no idea what this is all about, but as a parent I've never been more proud.   He did this on his own. 
 
When I was making dinner last week, I cued up a song.  Finished making dinner, eating and cleaning up the kitchen before it was over.  The meal, needless to say, was progolishsis.
