The Office - Season 8 (Spoilers!)

I have to say, I was very impressed with the season premiere last night. Maybe I was the only one who didn't know how it was going to play out, but I had no idea they were going to do a little switcharoo on us for the position of regional manager. But I gotta say, I loved it! I know he's not Michael Scott, but I thought Andy was a great replacement for that role, the quirky yet loveable leader, who really has no clue how to lead. I think it should be interesting. By the way, LOVED the planking bit. :)

I dunno. Andy may work out, but Ep 1 seemed to be more about establishing the new CEO. And I don't really care too much for him.

I love Robert California. I think there is a lot of promise there.  It helps, I guess, that I like James Spader and always have. 
 
You'll note that there is always ONE serious character, from early Jan, to David, to whatsername (Kathy Bates)...  I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Not so thrilled with Andy as boss; I think he was good in small doses, and I don't know of 15 minutes of Andy each episode is going to work.   We'll see.

I doubt Andy will have the screen time that Michael had. Unfortunately, last night showed the show won't be as good, but it should still be entertaining.
 
Planking bit was good when Dwight was trashing them all.

Big Spader fan over here and I like what he can bring.
 
I like the Nard Dog but I was not happy with him as Regional Manager.  I just don't thinlk he can carry the show like Steve Carrell did.  I really miss Michael Scott.  Not sure how long the show is going to last without him.
 
I loved how Spader's list referred to Creed as "Old Man"

I particularly loved when Dwight shot Meredith with the fire extinguisher, when Toby got up from the "winner's" lunch and said "I don't belong here!", and I liked (as someone else mentioned) Kevin yelling "Danger Danger Danger".

I liked it, sure, I miss Michael Scott a lot, but I think the show can carry on quite strong without him too. I'm not sure how long Robert California will stay as CEO but you can't really get a grip on the guy, he's so unpredictable. My predictions are that Andy won't stay regional manager for too long either, if they won't develop his character. Oh, and I read that Jenna Fischer's pregnancy was written into the script this time, and I notice a bit of a difference between fake- and 'real'-pregnant Pam.

What you need to do is shove it up your butt.

Anyone catch as they panned across the 'losers' in the office, at the end of the shot was a Homer Simpson doll.

Hormonal Pam weeping at the Travelers Insurance dog.."He's just trying to protect his bone!"...

Overall, I'm satisfied. They're surely not going to reach the freshness of Season 2 and 3, but you can't expect that from a show in its 8th season. Spader as CEO just rules, plain and simple. I'm also fine with Andy being the new regional manager. I don't think he will carry the show as Michael Scott did before. Instead I think the ensemble character of the show will be put more in the foreground. Jim, Pam and Dwight will probably have about the same amount of screen time as Andy and the others will get more than they used to have before. At least that's what I'm thinking.
 
Hormonal Pam is going to be annoying, though.

My wife and I both thought that this episode was better than 3/4 of the episodes from last season. There were quite a few LOL moments for us. Sure Michael Scott's character is irreplaceable but I think the quirky, dry humor of Robert Kalifornia coupled with Andy is going to be a nice distraction and great combo. I was concerned this series would fall flat on it's face but it looks like it may be able to keep its head above water.

Daryl is probably the best secondary character on the show.

The planking bit was great. The rest of the episode felt ok. Me and the wife have noticed last years episodes were nothing great when we first viewed them. Catching them on the reruns was however a different experience.
 
They seemed a lot funnier. I definitely miss M Scott in the show. Still have to watch a few more episodes to see how this plays out.

The first episode of the season should have been as funny as this one, would have kicked it off much better.

Love his character. The golfing episode and the Police tribute band episodes are classics.

This season has been good so far . . . . 
 
Didn't have a lot of hope for this season but it has been pretty funny and a little heartwarming.
 

That episode was pretty funny. Not as good as the first one, though. But still pretty funny.

I missed last week's opener but I thought yesterday was meh. I know it's early but I am not so sure about Andy as the boss. I also really liked Kathy Bates as Jo. I agree with faizoff saying the reruns are better. I don't know why that is, but when TBS had the 3 straight hours of The Office on Tuesdays I loved watching them more then when they were first run.
I also think the Pam/Angela duel pregnancies is a little desperate. Michael Scott will be sorely missed.

Hey, that was totally the "drummer at the wrong gig" guy a couple of weeks ago.

I've also found that I enjoy The Office a lot more upon repeat viewings than the first time I see them.  It's really quite odd.  Even the "classic" episodes for season 2 and 3 I didn't care at all for when they were on TV.  I picked them up on DVD cheap and fell in love watching them all through again.

The episode with Steve Moore was quite funny. I like how Dwight has been the past few episodes.

I think overall this season has been pretty bad. Some parts are funny here and there, but most of the humor feels recycled and boring. And it seems like they do a lot of "cute humor" now that just isn't that funny. The writing no longer seems to be edgy and witty like it was in past seasons and the characters aren't as endearing. Seems like the show is just going through the motions at the moment. I miss Steve Carell big time too. Oh well!

After having just watched the most recent episode ("Pool Party"), I have come to the conclusion that I personally think this is the best season since 4.
Things got stale with Steve Carell, but the introduction of James Spader and promotion of Andy Bernard has given everything a bit of a boost.
