Edit:  What I mean is he was your employee?  From his post it seemed like he knew -nothing- about this.  You may not have been able to say the specifics, but the least you could have done was inform him that some major shit may go down on the forum that's his job to mod.  This is the second major bomb that has fallen on the forum that Wey has had to mop up.

I'm just going to say is the fact that Wey left is a pretty big deal... (A) It would take something serious to cause that, and (B) who will be our resident tyrannical moderator now?

Well, I for one am with you, bro.  I've seen this before (meaning, I understand why sometimes lawsuits have to be filed).  Lots of people jumping to conclusions and they have no idea what they are talking about, both in terms of the law and in terms of your personal situation.  I know the law, but I don't know your personal situation, so all I can say is good luck, and I hope you're not making me look like a chump.  :)

Read a story, assume it's true from start to finish with no embellishments/inaccuracies/misquotes/agendas, and then react with emotional outbursts based on nothing ... yeah, that's a sure first recipe for logical posts and thoughtful exchange of information and ideas.

Whether Mike is fighting for trademark rights on the band name, I don't really care, but it's the utter lack of disregard for someone who has had his back for such a long time.
 
My goodness, Wey's work was far beyond any site I have ever visited.  While most admins act like children or clique-ish, Wey was always level headed and sound.  You don't even know how awesome of a person you had here, Mike.

So, if everything is rosy, then why the lawsuit? You've made mention before about the possibility of wanting to rejoin Dream Theater should the opportunity arise. Doesn't this lawsuit pretty much torpedo any hope of that?

I feel like there needs to be a TV special with you and the band reuniting simply to talk about the last year and denying all the false rumors and admitting the things that actually happened.  If I've learned anything from mainstream media, it's that leaving things under "I legally can't talk about it" will just bring more false rumors and negative bullshit.
Whatever actually happened will be found out eventually, so it might as well be from the actual group of people it's about.  I honestly think that will stop this whole DT vs. MP war that's been happening since you left.
 
I love you Mike, you are my #1 musical hero, but I really think things won't stop until they're properly let out to the open.

Wey's actions speak a lot louder than anything else going on here. I have had some interactions with him in a personal matter and found him to have a high level of integrity in dealing with a very delicate situation. His words are all that I believe right now, and they are not the kindest of words in this situation.
 
I am still a fan of MP's work and still look forward to hearing whatever new music comes from him because, to be honest, I don't know MP as a person. I am not family or close friend. One of the things I used to like about him was his fan-friendly reputation. I am curious to see how much damage this does to that and how it might affect things going forward with him.

It's business, Mike and the rest of DT have a difference of opinion over what share of DT he's entitled too.  Maybe he says he deserves 33% and they say he deserves 25%, the courts (an impartial third party) are just going to determine which number to use, or they'll settle on a number between the two.  
 
If this is more or less the case, to Mike's point I think we'd all agree that he has a claim that he has done more than 25% of the work of building DT's name so he has a right to more than that for a share.  This doesn't make him the anti-christ; so again chill the fuck out.
 
I don't see why this is a big issue.  It happens all the time, and there doesn't have to be animosity.

Enough already.  Mike, you have an ego.  This isn't a bad thing at all.  In fact, you deserve to have the fucking ego!  You've accomplished more than most people can dream of, but stop fucking up your image.  I'm not sure if you know how much damage you're doing to yourself by trying to defend yourself.  Honestly, just be happy with your accomplishments and realize that no matter what you play on, its going to sell records.

True, that's why I think the whole "i'm leaving my baby after 25 years" speech seems out of place right now. You cannot go around emotionally talking about your business. Either you take it personally or you take it as a business. It's the ambiguity of the whole thing what troubles me.
 
Again, I do think many are seeing this too black and white in terms of MP is bad DT are good and that's a simplification that I won't follow. I do believe there are two sides to every story and as the saying goes there are no heroes among thieves.
