You should check out `Alpacas Orgling` by L.E.O. it`s an album by Sturmer and Bleu with a massive ELO/Jeff Lynne vibe/tribute definitely power pop with lush Lynne style production.

He co-wrote and sang on a couple of tracks,if you like 70`s era ELO you will ove it,if you just love excellently crafted pop/rock you should like it too.

I'll give it a listen. a guy on another board suggested i listen to Sugarbomb... power-pop you might like also. I just got my hands on Beatnik Beatch.. the band Sturmer & Manning were in before Jellyfish in the late 80s.

bump. http://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/ First official live Jellyfish album—ever! This set was recorded in 1991 at Bogart’s (hence the clever title) in Long Beach, California while the band were on tour supporting their debut album Bellybutton. Get it now on CD or as a double LP with three sides of music and 1 side with laser-etched art. The first 1,500 copies pressed on translucent blue vinyl, and black thereafter. 1st ever LIVE album "Live at Bogarts"! available on both CD and Vinyl!

true, but it's from the Bellybutton tour, so odds are it's mostly music from that album (if not all).

In some ways this whole thing makes me really excited. But, at the same time...It's a bit disappointing that it's not from Spilt Milk. (IMHO, their masterpiece) It's like if 5YiaLT was the only live album from DT...it would be better than nothing, but...

true true. Omnivore is doing some cool shit though for Jellyfish. And they have a biography in the works (i think). Roger said he will be on tour with Beck this summer... but why are some of the best musicians, singers, composers cast aside and put on the sidelines?? Makes me sad because I love the Jellyfish guys. Some of it must be by choice, some of it because of the current state of the music industry.. but i digress. Hell I just want new music from the dudes more than anything. Looks like Manning & Falkner get along, but Sturmer is more than 'odd man out'...

yeah and Sturmer in a lot of ways is the *key* member given he's the lead singer/voice of the band. Imagine KX with just Ty + Jerry and some other dude playing bass? it would be weird. I may have to pull out my bootleg from '91 in Frankfurt just to reminisce about that tour. At least this album is from the original lineup that included Falkner. Most of the bootlegs I have are from the Spilt Milk tour i.e. not with Jason Falkner.

yeah, I almost feel worse given I was possibly old enough to see them (I was born in '76), but didn't actually know about them until a few years after they broke up. Tis often the case.

* group hug * I think Portnoy needs to make a mission out of bringing Jellyfish together. Or is that asking too much ;p

that would be great, sadly, a guy over on progressiveears.com had this to say about that not to drop names but I had lunch with Roger Manning a few weeks ago and there are a few more Jellyfish-related releases pending, including a re-release of the excellent "Fan Club" box set, of which only 2,000 were originally pressed by good ol' NotLame Records. Also, there's an Imperial Drag (Manning's post-Jellyfish band with "Spilt Milk" touring guitarist/vocalist Eric Dover) box in the pipeline and some other vinyl re-issues coming at some point in the future. Good times for Jellyfish fans. One sad thing was I asked Roger about a Jellyfish reunion and he said it's just not going to happen. I didn't ask him to elaborate LOL. What I would be interested is just Mike wanting/being-able-to work with any of the members either in a tribute or a new/original band (or another tribute, say Queen if not The Beatles given he's done that now in 2 incarnations already with YMC).
