Free is my favourite album. The mood of the album is just..."happier". The first record was too dark for me. And Blood is also awesome. I've listened the crap out of it.

Finally I listen to OSI, well, some samples from the "Blood" album, it sounds killer! Let's wait for the next one, in the mean time I want to listen to "Blood"!

Could hardly be more excited for this release. All three albums are phenomenal and they've been getting progressively better, so expectations for this one are pretty high. Who'd have thought we'd see two albums from Jim in less than six months?

Super psyched for this album. Love all the OSI albums and in my opinion Kevin Moore is a genius!

What the hell? I just went to the band page and they have ALL this stuff loading but you can't do anything on the page. What am I missing? I loved the first 2 albums, kind of liked Blood, but I'd be really ok if there was a new CK album too...

I've the eponymous album and I can stream Blood on Spotify. Overall I prefer Blood, but dig them both. I haven't heard the third album or anything by Chroma Key so I think I'm going to have to check those out now.

If you check out Chroma Key....start with Dead Air for Radios. It's an instant classic to my ears, and I don't think it ever really left my CD rotation from the day of its release. The others are really good...but they are "growers" IMO. After DAFR, the focus shifts more towards the atmospheric "background" type music more than actual "songs". I didn't even like Chroma Key's last album "Graveyard Mountain Home" at first...now I love it. But it took a year.

DAFR is a classic. Every song is great and more importantly we all realized how different a turn Dream Theater would have taken with him still in the band. Unfortunately I wish it had worked out. I love JR and he is definitely better for the guys personally, but Kevin's songwriting abilities are simply the best I've ever heard from a modern ('80s+) keyboardist. After DAFR I agree his creative work almost took a score/screenplay turn that was less formulaic or logical for a traditional album release. I thought moving into composing for movies made a lot of sense for him. But I was really happy when he joined up with Matheos for OSI. The only thing I would change about Kevin is that I think he has a nice and unique voice but not exceptional. I think his music could be brought even more to life by a trained professional vocalist (like Labrie in the old days). As for background or filler/verse vox, I think he is exceptional. Anyway, can't wait to check out new OSI.

Man, I very strongly disagree with this. I think part of his charm is that he doesn't quite sing. He always sounds so sober, so calm, so... wise. If he started to actually stretch his singing it would kinda sound silly. to me anyway

Kevin's voice as a very "unsettling" quality that is *PERFECTLY* married to the music he makes. I honestly think a professional singer would completely ruin the vibe.

Not to jump all over you, but I also disagree 100%. Kevin's distant, lethargic singing style is very powerful when coupled with his personal lyrics, IMO.

I'm with Jpjr on this one. His voice fits the music nicely, but to be honest it can get on my nerves at times and I would rather have someone doing more singing and less talking style singing. It isn't enough to make me not listen and not buy their albums, I own all three so far and will be buying the new one for sure, but I would like a different singer. No one is arguing that the guy can't write some great lyrics though, because he can.

I've been listening to Blood and Free for the last few days...very excited for this new album... You know...KevMO is an amazing lyricist...dude does an amazing job of "painting" with his words so to speak.
"Be careful. You're a man who makes people afraid, and that's dangerous." "It's what people know about themselves inside that makes em' afraid."

I'm not too intrigued. Sounds like more of the same and I'm not a huge fan of the vocals. No inflection to the voice. Just seems monotone to me.

I'm completely stoked. I think it has a bit more of the GMH feel in a few of the softer spots...that's a good thing. Anyone notice that the *longest* sample was from the last track? I got a feeling it could be an EPIC!!

interesting how Jim mentions their process. He sends Kevin more or less any music he's working on. I suppose potentially, OSI could make a record that is dominantly heavier songs. I also am surprised by the fact nobody seems to ask Kevin (or Jim for that matter) how much SAMPLES are going to be used on this new album. I've felt since hearing the 1st record for the 1st time, THE SAMPLES are one-of the signature aspects to OSI's sound.. At least on the 1st album, the only album I really enjoy overall. Kevin's an ace at capturing them, and if this new record uses even a FRACTION of the amount of samples that the debut record does, it'll AUTOMATICALLY be something I'm more interested in, than Blood and Free.
