Guess MP's New Project Thread

In case anyone didn't see it, John Sykes and MP will be on the same episode in the next season of That Metal Show, so Stadler might be onto something there. Taping starts in the next few days.

If not, I would love a classic rock project with Mike Portnoy and Paul Gilbert (and add Derek Sherinian on keys and Jeff Scott Soto on vocals).

I'm guessing Sykes as well because Eddie Trunk said Sykes was working on something, but didn't clarify......plus as mentioned elsewhere in this forum they're on the same episode of That Metal Show.

I'm not sure if it would factor in, but Tom Morello was seen at Comic-Con this weekend promoting I think some comic/graphic novel of his. Granted San Diego and where MP is likely isn't that far away.

Well, if MP is so busy that he didn´t tweet for two days, I´d say things are going at a tight pace. :)

@TPR, you are most likely right but still...that would be a hell of a lineup to play some Heavy Classic Rock inspired music.

And some of you guys beat me to the punch as to guessing MP's project with someone mentioned above. Since he says he's doing the classic rock thing, it would be great to hear him do it with dUg. Those two as a rhythm section would be incredible.

Just announced MP with John Sykes and a bass player to be named.

I guess we can start guessing the bass player for the "Psycked" project. [Portnoy-Sykes // My suggestion of a nickname for the project.] :)
 
I'm hoping for Jason Newsted. Would be a KILLER live performance. (in addition to the album performance of course.

They probably will be announcing the bass player pretty soon.

Well damn.  I was hoping for an all MP project for once.  A truly solo album.

Nothing to really base any guesses on, but I figure this is as good a thread as any in which to start wildly speculating about MP's latest tweet. Maybe a tiny hint, Mike?

Did I miss something? Has there been any indication that it's off?

^Don't know. MP said he was patiently waiting the next move and that was a couple
weeks ago and there has been nothing since then. Seems quite stalled for the time
being.

Mikes latest tweet says he's meeting with Zakk. I will withdraw the EVH guess.

So Mike tweeted he "recorded a new album w ______"....
 
I thought maybe it was just going to be a guest appearance on a song, maybe two
but it sounds like he recorded the whole album. Now I'm really curious as to who
this is. Especially if their drummer isn't playing on the album at all.

My bet it's Black Sabbath. Just for lolz.
