http://www.myspace.com/Soenmusic Sounds like Opeth meets Tool without growls. Pretty interesting. Not sure if it's my thing, yet, but it's pretty cool on the first listen.

Hmm, well it's great to hear Lopez back in action, but I'm not super impressed. I'd probably like it a lot more if the vocalist had a bit more to him. He seems very limited. I'll keep my eye out for further developments from the band.

Like the music very much. The vocals seems rather dull which is regrettable. I could clearly hear Maynard singing this!

Basically it's a second rate Tool. There is not much originality here AT ALL and that singer is no Maynard. Martin Lopez is no Danny Carey either. I don't really care to hear any more of them unless they stop blatantly ripping off every Tool staple.

i love what Lopez did in Opeth, but this sounds like a complete Tool rip off to me.

I do feel they "borrowed" stuff from Tool, but also from Meshuggah, and Opeth. Anyhow, they are not entirely ripping off Tool, listen to the tracks on youtube too.

I dunno Lopez is no Danny Carey? In Opeth his Drumming was every bit if not more Impressive then anything Carey has done in TOOL. Maybe Lopez needs Ackerfelt too bring out his true potential.

The ending of Deliverance is more impressive by far in my humble opinion.

I just heard the one song currently in their MySpace page. Nice shot at aping Tool's vibe. Some bits here and there reminded me slightly of Opeth's Damnation, but I wouldn't say there's any Opeth influence beyond that. Two things that bugged me: 1) Steve DiGiorgio normally kills, but his going off-key on the opening verses was a bit annoying. 2) The heavier riffs felt out of place.

To be fair, this was a year and a half ago. The songs might have changed since then, at least production wise.

There's finally a video up on Youtube. It's for the song Delenda. Can't help but think Tool with Ghost Reveries drumming. Still, sounds like good stuff.

Very Toolish, but I still enjoy it. He's a great drummer. Might have to buy this one.

I heard the entire album on Simfy (something like Spotify). It's not really bad but it does sound so much like Tool, it's irritating.

Listening to the album now. Yeah, it's intensely obvious that whoever is doing the writing is way into Tool. But I'll give it a chance because I really like Lopez.

Just listened to this over the weekend and loved it. So good to hear Lopez again and he does not disappoint on this. I also read an interview with him somewhere where he addressed the Tool comparison. His response was interesting. He acknowledged that Tool was a heavy influence but also stated that he does not see Tool as just a band but also as a genre unto itself. I kind of concur with that. No one else sounds like Tool. I would put Opeth and Primus into that same thought. Who else sounds like any of those bands? I also like the fact that, unlike Tool, there wasn't long periods of weird noises and wasted time going on. Clear concise songs for the whole album. In my opinion, Tool could learn something from how Soen did this album.

I'm not saying it's bad but I cannot get past the fact that this is such a Tool rip-off. I was expecting something else from two great musicians such as Lopez and DiGiorgio!

I kind of concur with that. Anyone remember a band called Earshot? GREAT band, two discs, TOTAL Tool clones. When it works, it works.
