Mike Portnoy Leaves Dream Theater - Official Press Release

Hi KNH, my name is Antoni. It just pisses me off that somebody is implying their own standards as universal. Nobody has to explain their family situation here to tell others how they feel about MP leaving DT.
 
Even though I was not part of the discussion, I identified with DaRk0's point of view and took Bails' question too personal. Sorry for that. I for one do not feel like explaining my family situation here, yet I can clearly remember 9/8/10, because it felt just like a death in a family...

I don't want us to start being negative towards each other. I explained that I don't have much family because I wanted to justify my response of why I care about bands so much (which was the original argument). In my opinion it doesn't matter what your belief on the issue is, everyone has a different perspective and I was sharing mine because I wanted other people to at least understand mine. I just don't want us to be so argumentative and negative towards each other on such an awesome board.

No problem, man, but I've known Scott (Bails) for years and he doesn't have any malicious intent at all.  He's a good person.

No problem, man, but I've known Scott (Bails) for years and he doesn't have any malicious intent at all.  He's a good person.

Hey Mike, its a real shame you guys broke up.  But at the same time i've been in a few bands in the past and I know how the inner workings can get jammed up, and unfortunately a lot of fans don't get that.  You'll always be my favorite drummer and Dream Theater will always be my favorite band, but I don't know how they would ever find someone who could bring it the way you did at the kit.  Good luck to you man, I hope everything works out.  God bless you and your family.  Maybe sometime in the future at the least all you guys can sit down and have some beers together.

Even after all this time, I still couldn't bring myself to watch the "Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On" videos. Unitl last night that is, the curiosity finally got to me.
 
I won't regurgitate the same stuff I've written before, about how disapointed I feel (still), and I have nothing against Mangini.
 
For the first time since being a Dream Theater fan (20 yrs), I was irritated by JLB. It wasn't anything he said (I don't think) just his body language. Maybe this is me completely projecting here, but I feel like he is reveling in his new found power, or his perception of it anyway. Not trying to start any ish with anyone, or his fans. I've always been a big supporter of his, even when everyone else talks about how he's lost it, stinks, should leave, be fired, whatever (comments not necessarily on this forum). He is the voice of DT as far as I'm concerned. And, maybe this is how he comes off all the time, and I just haven't seen it. Maybe it's all in my head, because I don't like that MP is gone.
 
On another note, the videos bummed me out, and I decided to search for Mike Portnoy tribute videos on You Tube. Not much there that's any good, but I did come across this video of some guy covering Lines in the Sand that's pretty damn cool:
