NFL 2010 Season: WEEK ONE - Monday, September 06, 2010 1:46 PM
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??!!!!!!

It's time for another year full of bold predictions, ridiculous upsets, and gambling, gambling, gambling!

(My apologies if the thread for this already started... I couldn't find it anywhere.)

Here are my week one picks:

NEW ORLEANS over Minnesota

Yeah.
Miami over BUFFALO

Buffalo is my pick to go 0-16 this year.

HOUSTON over Indianapolis

This is technically an upset pick, but every now and again the Colts will start slow, and all the circumstances are lining up the way Houston wants them.  Top of the season so no injuries, home game, coming off their best season ever, big playoff push, Colts didn't really improve in any significant way, Texans have a new stallion in Arian Foster, etc etc etc.  I call Moo Cows.

TAMPA BAY over Cleveland

I gotta level with you guys, I flipped a coin for this one.  I know Cleveland has a bright future with Holmgren at the top desk, but right now they really don't have much.

PITTSBURGH over Atlanta

Atlanta is going to have the better season, but the Steelers have more big-game experience and are going to have the wind at their backs this time, even without Big Ben.

Carolina over NY GIANTS

The media will want the Giants to prevail in their new stadium regular season debut, but I don't see how they do when Carolina is better at every position except QB.  This was a close pick, though.

CHICAGO over Detroit

Detroit is going to be better this season, but this is the kind of game they can't win yet.

NEW ENGLAND over Cincinnati

The Patriots, as usual, have virtually nobody you've ever heard of on their roster, and seemingly terrible, old, aging veterans in the names you HAVE heard.  And yet they will go to the playoffs, and it starts here.  The Bengals might have a better season, but the Flying Elvii are winning this game.

JACKSONVILLE over Denver

Coin flip #2.  I would easily go with Denver if Dumervil was at 100% and they hadn't had a tepid preseason.  If the Jags come out flat, it's gonna be a Bronco fiesta.

TENNESSEE over Oakland

My suicide-pool pick of the week.  If Oakland wins, well, god damn, I guess.

Green Bay over PHILADELPHIA

Hmmmm Aaron Rodgers against Kevin Kolb what do I pick

Arizona over ST. LOUIS

Upset alert!  I'm going to go with the sound money on the straight pick, but if there was a point spread, I would be picking the Rams to cover it.  The Cardinals really, genuinely, do not know what is going to happen at QB right now.  The sooner either Anderson has a Warner-like revival or sprains his ankle so Max Hall can take over, the better.

San Francisco over SEATTLE

I don't buy the media crowning the 49ers division champs so overwhelmingly, but they will win this game.  Remember, folks: Singletary's giant balls can't win the division all by themselves.  At the end of the day, this team, which hasn't won a damned thing, has to step up, and they have not yet shown any sign of being able to do that.

Dallas over WASHINGTON

I know the 'Skins are supposed to be on the upswing (and I have my doubts) but the Cowboys are L-O-D-I-D LOADED and a Super Bowl favorite, much to my grinding of teeth and cursing of Texas in general.  I expect the Arlington Cowboys to go at least 13-3, and that includes winning their opener on the road.

Baltimore over NY JETS

That's twice this week I'm picking against the media fix.  Not that the Jets aren't good... they're going to the playoffs this season.  I just see Baltimore as the stronger right now, by a good margin.  They even gained a huge target for Flacco in Anquan Boldin.  Boldin's biggest nighmare only now showed up for camp and won't be at 100%.  Ravens have this one.

San Diego over KANSAS CITY

This will be the year that KC learns that Todd Haley is not a good head coach, Matt Cassel is not a good starting QB outside of Belichick's system, and when you let Herman Edwards run your franchise's assets into the ground, you pay for it for the next decade.

Let the games begin!

Nice. Was wondering what took you so long to respond to this thread.

Baltimore added Houshman so Flacco has more weapons to throw to now. I think the Ravens will do good this year again.

I'll just paste my picks here too.

MIN @ NO
This should be a great start to the season. I think the Saints win this one, Favre has to adjust to some new recievers to gel with and it will be interesting to see how that goes.

CLE @ TB
The Bucs have not spent money and projected to win 4-5 games this season. Word is that the Glazers are concentrating on Man U more and leaving no time for the Bucs. Jake Delhomme just might shine with the Browns and with Cribbs around they most likely will edge out the Bucs.

MIA @ BUF
CIN @ NE

IND
@ HOU
I think this game will be close and a great game. The Texans could've won so many more games last year if they had just played the entire game.

DEN @ JAC
With this pick I've been going back and forth, Denver have been plagued with injuries and the Jags are an up and down team.

ATL @ PIT
I think Steelers still win this with a strong running game and the return of Polamalu.

OAK @ TEN
CAR @ NYG
DET @ CHI
Detroit's made major moves on defense in the draft this year, they might win 5-6 games this year.

ARI @ STL
I'm going to miss Warner more as the season progresses and with Derek as the starter I'm very curious to see how this turns out.

GB @ PHI
GB are going to get far again this year, Rogers can only get better.

SF @ SEA
SF might possibly win the Division this year, they've made some strong additions at defense and are predicted to go far this year.

DAL @ WAS
Very curious to see the Redskins under McNabb and Shanahan now and this might be a close one.

BAL @ NYJ
Havent seen any hard knocks episodes, all I know is Rex Ryan cusses a lot lol. The Jets made great additions in defense and offense yet have to still settle on the Revis situation. Flacco finally has a star WR this season and might really bring it this season.

SD @ KC
I have Thomas Jones on my FF team and am debating to start him over Cedric Benson.
"I'm in a glass case of emotion."
