Foxy Shazam - Fantastic Band!

Foxy Shazam released their new self-titled album a few days ago, and it's been blowing me away!  They kinda remind me of Queen meets Elton John style piano rock with a crazy frontman.  I got into them by hearing the "Oh Lord" video on youtube, and it got me hooked big time.  Not sure if I can post the official video here, but I highly recommend that everyone checks them out.     

I had been hearing a bit about this band so I decided this would be a good time to give 'em a listen... It's pretty cool, at least that one song. The vocals remind me a lot of young Geddy at times, but this guy's an overall better vocalist. I might give the album a buy. I'll be checking more stuff in their official youtube channel.

Yeah, the rest of the album is just as good IMO.  Second Floor is probably my fav track so far, but no one can deny the lyrical genius of Bye Bye Symphony: "Life is a bitch, but she's totally do-able" 

Picked up their self-titled album a few days ago and I can't get enough of it. Probably like most I saw the video for "Oh Lord" and fell in love with it.  The whole disc kicks ass though.  I would LOVE to see these guys live

The new album is streaming legally in it's entirety on Rolling Stone's website. It's...uh, interesting. Way more stripped down, rocky, sounds like they're trying to be Queen even more, some quality songs but on a couple listens nowhere near the self-titled for me. I dug the overproduced power pop of the last one, and honestly don't think a couple members of this band are talented enough to pull off stripped down rock band. Might grow on me though, still worth checking out!

"I like it". Well, I like it! Refreshing to hear some good ol pole dancing music. Backgroumd vocals do sound like Queen, but, so what. It was a fun listen.

Love that song, haha. It is getting better on a couple more listens. More the last few songs of the album I have an issue with, the first few are pretty strong IMO. Fun for sure.

The trumpet player in the band messed up his horn pretty bad at a show a few years ago...(they are a pretty high-energy act so accidents happen)...anywho, dad brought it into my store and we repaired it but they ended up wanting us to leave the bell section curved upwards.  They now bring in their trumpets whenever they purchase one to have the horn bent upwards...

Since I saw this thread yesterday I saw that they're going to be opening for The Darkness on their next tour (which I'm going too). So I thought I would check out some YouTube stuff and I do hear kind of a modern day Queen vibe about them. But these videos are SO entertaining and the melodies get stuck in your head. Great stuff!

I think Foxy are a good band and they certainly have style. I'd LOVE to see them opening for the Darkness (I want to see the Darkness as well), but unfortunately the dates around here conflict with a previous schedule (and work of course) BOO!!!!!
 
I'll be watching a lot of youtube in the next month or so I guess.

I'm trying to get my band to open for them for the Stone Pony show.  As always, still waiting for an answer.  If not, this will still be my third time seeing them this year.  Booyah!
