Movies: John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer Games: Nobue Uematsu (FF series etc), Yasunori Shiono (Lufia games) Other: Tuomas Holopainen, S.S.H. (Saitama Saishuuheiki) actually he could fit into the "games" category as well but whatevah. Well of course there are many more but these came first to my mind.
You know...that's my pooper.

I'm currently LOVING Gustav Holst, especially "The Planets". I might have to check my pants if I'm honest.

Serious lack of Mahler in this thread.

I enjoy VM music, but no VG composers come to mind. However, due to a recent concert I attended featuring Steven Honigberg (cello), I would have to include Dvorak as part of my faves. Saint-Saens rocks as well.

I love Liszt. Seems like you pretty much have to like Mozart and Beethoven, but I also enjoy Haydn, Brahms, Chopin, and Tchaichovsky. As far as modern stuff goes I think Howard Shore's work on the LotR trilogy is about as impressive as it gets. Seeing the LotR Symphony was one of the best experiences of my life.

Movies: I have never heard anything like James Horner's Star Trek II and III scores. The main theme for Wrath of Khan is FUCKING EPIC. His score for ALIENS is also one of the most unique I've heard from any movie composer. Love also Howard Shore's LOTR movie scores. John Williams' Raiders March is about the most epic and cool thing ever committed to recording. So there. Television: Sylvester LeVay's Airwolf theme. Ha ha ha! Is there anything else like it? I mean come on! It's literally awesome. Classical: Well I'm kind of classically retarded, but I know what I like. Tzaikovsky, William Tell, some Bach, Mozart, some Paganini, the only thing I know from Holst is The Planets, and I love it. Debussy (for Arabesques, you know the one). "Modern" I'll go ahead and add. Suzanne Ciani is frickin brilliant.

How have we gotten onto a second page of composers with so many video game mentions, and none for Koji Kondo?!?! He's untouchable for all time memorable video game tunes imo. And even though he didn't do a lot, I have to say Masato Nakamura for the first two Sonic The Hedgehog games. Sonic 3/K had good music, but it wasn't as memorable as those first two.

The impressionists do it for me - Shostakovich, Debussy, Stravinsky etc... No one's mentioned the genius that was Arnold Schoenberg, who was probably the most *progressive* composer of his time - he developed serialism and took atonal compositions to new exciting levels. Granted, he can be quite difficult to listen to, but given the amount of very chromatic work that DT have done throughout the years, I would think he would have a following here. DT is, even if they don't know it, influenced by him - IMO, although I really don't think of that as an opinion lol
This is my new signature. Enjoy.

You wouldn't happen to know if there's music for sonic and knuckles available? I keep getting reminded of it by Derek Sherinian's Planet X album.... go listen to it, you'll know what I mean.
