Fuel reunites w/ Brett Scallions Wednesday, March 10, 2010 11:00 PM (permalink)
Any Fuel fans here? Apparently they've just reunited with original singer Brett Scallions. There's a local concert date here for May 25 @ Starland Ballroom in NJ. What's weird about this is:

    1. ) I can't find ANY news of this reunion online other than the concert date announced  @ Starland's website

2.) Even Fuel's website still has a pic of the band with Scallions' replacement Toryn Green in it- not to mention the fact that the song "Leave the Memories Alone" (from the last album, with Toryn Green singing) still streams on their site when you log on...

...weird stuff. This was a no-brainer move for Fuel though, considering fans apparently didn't take too well to a replacement singer, as evidenced by the fact that their last album tanked (though, I personally loved Angels & Devils). Anyway, interesting news for Fuel fans...

They're actually not reuniting... it's just Brett with new members which is a real shame. Here is what he posted over at Fuelies.net...

"Hey, all you Fuelies out there. First off, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for being as patient as possible over these past few weeks. I've been reading your posts and am aware of your excitement as well as your concerns for the upcoming shows that I hope we all embark on together. In a nutshell, we are planning a full world tour starting in mid April and going throughout the entire summer and into the fall. we've already confirmed shows such as the WMMR-BQ as well as festivals throughout Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and New York.
I'm so excited about this because I get to play with a group of guys that I've wanted to play with since I met each one of them. I look at this as a way for the four of us to come together and not only give you guys and gals the best shows that you could ever ask for but to also be creative and record some new material. And now, the band is...

        Brett Scallions
Yogi-guitar (Buck Cherry, The Wallflowers, Chris Cornell Band)
        Ken Schalk-drums (Candiria)
        Brad Stewart-bass (Shinedown)

These guys are all SICK players and I can't wait to rock a stage with them. I hope you guys are all as excited as I am and are willing to make it out to a show and let loose for awhile. Peace. Brett"

WOW. Ok, so here's the deal- a couple months or so ago, I actually read about Brett recruiting other players and going on tour as "Refueled"- playing Fuel covers- but obviously not the original band. Without Carl Bell, there is no Fuel. Period. BUT.. when I saw Starland Ballroom's concerts listing a Fuel reunion show, I actually thought it was a "true" Fuel reunion- not this "Refueled" band. Obviously, Starland doesn't have their facts straight, and they better get them so in a hurry, because it's purely false advertising that they're doing. In fact, I'm going to contact them myself tomorrow and let them know...

Lame!  I fully agree that Fuel is Carl Bell's band.  The dude wrote just about everything.  Shame on Brett for trying to steal the name.

              Hmmm....wow....that's kinda lame...

I mean, he's entitled to do whatever he wants live...but people will "obviously" be confused about whether this is really Fuel or not...

Yeah very lame... I couldn't believe it but I guess there is still a rift between Brett & Carl. They're actually using the name "Fuel" though...which I'm dying to hear what Carl thinks lol I originally thought he owned the name but I guess Jeff gave the ok for Brett to use it. I'll just say this... if Creed can reunite & make ammends, then I'm positive Fuel can... but it's obviously out of hand. I just think it's stupid to hold stupid grudges like this, they're all grown men & the fans deserve better.
