So for the solo section there will be hits on guitar and bass as in the recording right? That could have a large effect on how one picks their solo, considering those hits create a musical platform.

That could have a large effect on how one picks their solo, considering those hits create a musical platform. no guitar in the solo backing track. just bass and drums (unless its a drum solo, in which case the only other instrument would be the bass playing the 2 accents). in the case of a bass solo, the only instrument, besides you soloing, will be the drums, who will continue to accent those certain hits (as in the mock up backing track i made) so yeah, when youre bass soloing, you might wanna go the route of accenting those main notes with the drums.

CHOOSE YOUR BASS PARTS! http://metropoliscover.blogspot.com/2010/03/bass-parts.html 5 bassists, 15 parts, so choose 3 each, and post the timecodes here. (someone better be able to play that final unison ) note: guitar parts and lyrics on page 5 of this thread

crazyfatkid Ok guys, since this thread is getting, and will continue to get, hard to read, for an up to date copy of all the lists and info head to THE METROPOLIS COVER BLOG continue to apply for vocal parts as you have been doing, and i will edit the master list over at the blog :) Wow... Even a blog for this thing. Good solution to represent the project clearly... I'm really curious about the fruit... Brakkum ALSO also, if people disappear, I'll pick up anything else. You are so greedy, Brakkum...

Oh - with that backing track, is it possible that I can have the bass and drums as separate tracks? By that I mean a track for each for each input used - I'm guessing there's hi-hat, snare, kick, overheads and bass? Actually that goes for everybody - PLEASE, when exporting your recorded masterpiece of contribution, PLEASE export it without any backing tracks - just your instrument on its own, completely natural with no effects added, would be perfect. Indicate to me what effects you'd like and I can put them on myself, within the context of the mix. Cheers :)

Dekost This is my keyboard solo test: http://www.zshare.net/audio/7391586051f8282f/ You can listen a preview without downloading it If that's the solo you want in the song, can you please email it to me at zarndy.hoff@gmail.com without the backing track, and an indication of where it fits in the song? Please no less than 320mbps mp3 as well. Cheers

Just for laughs I tried to sing Metropolis. I have no recording of it because I'm shy, however I didn't think it is all that bad. I cannot for the life of me come close to James with the "swimming in a lake of fire". Yeah... that's pretty up there. Gotta keep practicing I guess.

YEa I noticed they time picks don't always line up, so I'm just going to do the parts surrounding those times, it could really help to make the different bass lines fir together more solidly.

Must the .zip files contain all what we recorded? For Example, I have two keys sections and one solo, I'll put three videos and three audio tracks, right?

For Example, I have two keys sections and one solo, I'll put three videos and three audio tracks, right? yep. only publish a zip when you have all your parts and youre happy with them. make sure the video includes full audio (you + backing) and your audio is JUST YOU. To those who are a bit confused about where their parts start and end (cos my time coding isnt 100% accurate), feel free to PM me and Ill try to better explain what I mean by each part :)
