Does anyone have a continuum? It would be AWESOME to have a continuum solo on this track.

I think it's too much expensive..

Just to further go on my post from earlier in the thread, I can do the intro pretty well I think, because i have a tambourine and an octobons (sounds like the bongo). I have only been playing for about a month or two less then a year and a half, so some of the more intricate parts I can't do, but I can still contribute!

but its more practical :P theres not much you can do with a continuum (other than be awesome)

I don't know how many bass players you have signed up, but I'll have a go at most of it - just no spider finger solo from me, unfortunately :)

I would do it, but I can't improvise...stupid classical training.

I can play for the opening string part, and any little solos anyone can write and send me I would gladly tape for the middle section!

What do you mean you cant improvise?? As far as I know, we`re also taught to improvise.  

And your idea of the opening part is interesting. It would be kind of the orchestral intro in the score dvd.

Yes, I can add the opening, but I am only 16, and although I am a serious student, I have had no training in improvisation.

But can someone write parts to me, chords, little stuff that they want to add and I can play it? 

dont worry man, improvising isnt a problem. im 16 this year, i've played guitar for 4 years. i only know 2 scales, and i dont know notes at all, still, improvising isnt a problem! just play, and feel the notes, you'll hear it very clearly if they fit or not! all you have to do is have a backing track and jam abit!

tomorrow ill write up the roll call sheet and everything, and depending how many drummers / soloists ill calculate how many bars each drummer should play... itll be somewhere between 4 and 32 bars im guessing

I think we should try and reach Jordan Rudess himself for the continuum solo. Just a thought.

lol if Mike's saw this thread I bet Jordan totally would be up for it if he heard of it.

Just to clarificate, we're doing the extended jam in addition to the instrumental section as written, correct?

What???? i have to wait one more day??? :( woke up today happy cause i was going to know what part i was going to play and now i have to wait one more day :(.

well.. i've been practicing my speed all this days to get in shape for the recording.

I've been playin around with different solo ideas, as soon as we get a tempo and backing track set up I'll be ready to go :D

I would definitely recommend that someone get a backing track set up for all the solos during the jam session.

I wonder how long this song is going to be, lol. Even the Download performance was 17 minutes long, and that was with only 4 guys!

Well, Taffer, I have a feeling we are probably going to have to split it in 2 parts :)

I mean the song on it's own is already 9:32, and I'm pretty sure we're not going to have only about 1:30 of improv

Maybe if we split the video into three parts:

1) Beginning to start of the jam
2) The jam
3) The jam to the end

That gives us up to 11 full minutes of jam...plenty of time for everyone to have a go! =D

I'll play the sleigh bells in the beginning. It really sets the tone! Kind like the rug - it really brings the song together.

I think the jam should be VERY progressive. Why not including unconventional instruments like frying pans or clacsons?

could I maybe film something if we're doing ridiculous things like pans? :P

I didnt know what this thread was about but if this can be pulled of I will be very impressed. Rock It!!!!!!!!!

I would love to do the 2nd (clean guitar) or whatever verse if there is any shortage of guitar. Or any of the "acoustic" overdubs on a real acoustic which happen every now and then during the middle-ish section. Or right out of the middle-section there are those arpegg things.

i'm curious which parts i can get to do on Kazoo aside the keys  ;-)

the kazoo is a very underrated instrument in terms of versatility.

SOLO SECTION
I am going to assume every instrumentalist will play a solo. I ask you to please think outside the box when recording your solo (so we don't end up with a 20 minute blues scale trade off). People with iPhones and other abstract instruments, please feel free to trade your guitar/bass/etc solo for a more interesting solo!



If you're wrongly appearing on the list, please say so. If you don't want a solo, say so.




Tomorrow I will draw up a scaffold of the entire song, make a backing track for each solo loop (4 bars), and people can start choosing their parts!!!
