Also,, Maybe you can make a basic track with the mix you want us to follow.. and then we all can use that track as reference so we don't messed up with the segments and everything.

I could lend a hand if you need more help with the singing...can't say i'm as good as LaBrie though...my range cuts off at an E when i've been practicing...i'd have to retreat to a falsetto.

I'm up for this, keyboards (anything that isn't the fast bits) and possibly some vocals.

I'll do some form of (my own) solo too if you want.

id do that but posting it here would be illegal cos it would involve using copyrighted material (the original song)

when it gets to the point of getting people recording, im gonna make a detailed scaffold with time codes and a lyrics sheet etc. ill do my best to keep this project real neat and tidy!

I want to contribute with a guitar part... but you must tell when is the deadline for the video and audio because work messed with my schedule a lot hahaha

once everyones picked/been allotted parts, youll have a couple of weeks or more to get all your recording done. recording the parts shouldnt really take so long anyway since its just covering something i assume you already know! but yeah, no strict deadlines so im sure everyone will be able to get stuff done leisurely and enjoyably

edit: itd be nice if the whole thing could be finished and released on 4/20 (hopefully mp doesnt read this!!!)

Put me down for a blistering distorted electric violin solo please, since someone already seems to have the acoustic parts covered.

Though some violin harmonies at the beginning might be nice.

in due time my friend, in due time. deadline = non existent because this is an experiment in fun, though as i mentioned before itd be nice to have it all done for 4/20

I've already started working on the song again!  Can't wait to lay down some tracks.  Just a reminder, I will contribute:

* Vocals - I have a high range, so I'd love to contribute some of the higher parts :p

* Guitar - Rhythms, Solo, doesn't matter...I can do it all :)

I just got the latest version of thumbjam for iPhone, from which Jordan sent them 2 of his sounds, and they sounds totally awesome, they really sounds Jordanesque (actually sounds like his lapsteel and continuum), I definitely want to lay down a solo with that crazy stuff :D

So, I'd like to do a keyboard solo in the middle section : D

Guys, I really think we should do this more often. It's a great idea. There's so many great DT songs to cover and with all the talented musicians on this forum, I really hope this is gonna last.

Sorry for double post, but because of that beautiful rule I can't edit my post.

I can do simple drum parts. I'm not that experienced (2 years of Rock Band, little over a year of lessons, and 9 months of 30-60 minutes of practice every day), and my kit is a Roland TD-4 electronic kit, but if you're up for it, I'd love to do it.

If no one else can, I can also do basic percussion using the Roland TD-4, it has about 20 percussion sounds ranging from bongos to tambourine and so forth.

my original idea was to have the forum get together and write an original... but that might have been a bit too giant and messy of a task... surely if this goes well therell be more fun to be had!
