your recording is fine, but not the audio format and filenames, and it also would be really nice if you only upload once your parts are all done :-)

but why the hell would you want it in a lossy format?
i'll re-upload everything when i've recorded what i'm supposed to, in the way described on the blog somewhere this week..

the change from initial excitement -> follow-through has been painful

lossy format I don't think is possible for me unless someone can tell me how it's done in Audition.

"Support for more than 20 file formats Work with files from a wide array of sources and deliver them in the audio format you need. More than 20 file formats and variations are supported, including Windows® PCM (WAV), OGG, AIFF, MP3, and WMA."


So yeah, I'm pretty sure you can export your files to whatever lossy format you want :)

I don't think I'm a good enough guitarist to play anything here, but then I noticed that 2:39-3:10 is open, which seems to be relatively simple. I usually just butcher Metallica songs in my bedroom so I'm clearly not anywhere near a competent level. Can I see if I can play it cleanly, and throw it in if it turns out half-ok?

I might also add some weedly-deedly with my ipod if you want another solo.

btw, maybe it's an idea if there aren't enough keyboardists/bassists whatever, some people take more parts for themselves so at least the song can be finished?

Well, I don't think crazyfatkid will be against that idea, cause the longer this takes the harder it will be to finish

Oh ok. I was thinking it was something else. What I submitted as a demo was in WAV.

I have to laugh. After giving it a week, and relistening to myself, I'm feeling as if I did better with the 2nd section than I previously thought.

Yeah I think we should have a deadline. Like in a week or so, we start sending all the PM's, and a few days after that, too bad.  It'll never get done like this.

Sorry bro but hopefully I should be able to start soon. Lately I've had stuff to do with school, the band I'm in was practicing for a talent show, and overall I've just been busy. I'm also trying to get a new crash cymbal before I start recording just so that way my video sounds better.

It's looking as if me trying to sing this song is impossible. It's just too hard. Its well and beyond my capabilities even when I try to push the range down. I'm beginning to see where my weaknesses lie and it's in the very fact that I cannot maintain that strong of a voice for very long and I will strain almost immediately. I need to have proper professional training to achieve at least something tangible for attempting Dream Theater. Other bands are certainly more achievable for me: Rush, Muse, Porcupine Tree, etc are much easier for me to attempt. Dream Theater is just too hard for me right now.

no worries, but seriously, im sure you can belt out one or two lines... that demo sounded pretty good, and noones asking you to sing the entire song!

yep head to the link posted above me, and pick a couple of parts youd like. since the people who signed up earlier have all gone on vacation, if you can get your stuff done in a week or so, you can probably do some more parts :D

Anything left for me to do? I play a bit of keys and would love to contribute.

I just noticed, doesn't the song go "The final is love, love is the dance of eternity" as opposed to "the third is love blah blah"?
