A Tough Decision To Make

I have a tough choice to make. Next month Transatlantic will be playing in Chicago. Now, I was all set to go to this show, however another choice appeared. Dream Theater announced they were supporting one of the most well known metal acts in the world Iron Maiden on their latest tour in support of a new album. Those two bands are performing in July in Chicago. Now, my dad has offered me the choice of seeing Transatlantic, or Dream Theater and Iron Maiden. He told me that we should see Dream Theater and Iron Maiden, but his main reason was because he reallly likes watching John Petrucci play. What do you guys think I should do? I know that this could quite possibly be the last tour for Transatlantic, because you never know if Neal Morse will go back to how he was thinking before the reunion. However, seeing Iron Maiden and Dream Theater would be an amazing show for sure. I have never seen any of the three bands in concert though, so I can't choose based on who I have or haven't seen before.

DT/IM for sure. Maiden is a classic band that should be seen. They are awesome in concert. DT/IM may be one of the best shows you could see.

Death5561 Now, my dad has offered me the choice of seeing Transatlantic, or Dream Theater and Iron Maiden. Your dad is a cruel soul. But seriously, if you've never seen either, you have to do DT/IM. If I were in your shoes I would've taken TA cuz I've seen DT twice and IM once.
Bolus - I play keyboards, in a band, we make music, it's good when you hear it, ya. Time And Tension - more delicious prog! yum!

Yeah, I want to punch people's faces for not being in America to be able to see the DT/IM show. I can't put enough emphasis on how impressive Iron Maiden are live, especially considering they're in their mid 50s. And they absolutely slay what they were in their 20s-30s. Bruce Dickinson's voice is legendary. And I think their time is running out, so for me I ask you to SEE THEM PLAY !!

Yeah I would say this is more likely to be the last chance you get to see Maiden than TA, and if you've never seen DT before either thats the must see for me =)

I'm not a big fan of The Whirlwind, but I found TA a more entertaining live experience than IM (whom I've seen once) and DT (whom I've seen more than a dozen times). Also, DT and IM tour all the time. TA don't - the last time was almost a decade ago and even during that more active time of the project there wasn't too much TA live activity, so I'd say go see them if you like their music.

I'd say TA You can see IM or DT 'any time', but TA might take a loooong time to happen again, or never will.
Sometimes you just don't know what to say.

Iron Maiden (most influencial metal band of the last 30 years) and Dream Theater (most influencial prog metal band of the last 20 years) I know the bands are actually older than this but i am counting the since around the time they can be considered influencial...

Why not save for both?
