tombojombo As awesome as this is for DT, I couldn't care less =[ I think I agree with this - hard to get stoked at something thousands of miles away. As usual, U.K. and Ireland get the sh@t end of the stick - not a prayer of it happening this side of the 'pond'! Made a note in my diary, simply says 'bugger'. JMcE.
DT - BEST Goddamn band on the planet! JLB - Canada's greatest (ever!) export - WHAT a voice! 'SCORE' - the canine's gonads! I see a Rainbow rising ...

Weymolith karinne Aye! This is freakin' awesome but can someone confirm the Ottawa/Montreal dates? On here Wey, you put July 6 in Ottawa, but on the RoadRunner Record site, there's no Ottawa date, it's Montreal on the 7th? http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=136140 There seems to have been a bit of confusion over a few of the dates that were listed. We have removed them until things get sorted out. Fiuh ! Thanks Wey , me and cousin were freakin' out a bit about the MTL and Québec dates ...lol Oh , and forget what I said about Maiden and Livenation , especialy Iron Maiden ; I knew they would never do that . Ok Eddie ?

May I ask how long the setlist will be for DT at MSG? I may need to cost/benefit the trip, as I don't plan on staying for Iron Maiden. Just personal taste. Add some midgets and pyrotechnics if the set is less than an hour to draw me in.

Duke DaPatrooch Didn't they play for an hour and a half with Yes? I hope this is the case for Maiden. I really hope I can go!! I think it was 50 minutes. My boots tell me their set was about 65 minutes on that tour.

Yeah it would be cool for a DVD, if they weren't an opener. Perhaps Iron Maiden will make a DVD of the entire show in their own right? Or it could be an official bootleg or something. GREAT news anyway!

I'll definitely hit the Toronto show!! Already booked the day off work :D Fingers crossed the MP & the boys pull out a cover (like with "Machine Messiah" for Yes) to win over some of the Maiden fans. I'm thinking "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)"! Would be very cool. Transatlantic in April, DT/Maiden in July... nice!!

emtee I think the big 'understory' of this tour will be how many DT fans show up at some of these gigs. I suspect there will be 50/50 at some and at the Garden I wouldn't be surprised if the DT fanatics outnumber the Maiden fanatics. Well, for most of the US and Canadian dates, DT will only be able to gross about 10% of what Maiden can. However, in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, LA, Chicago & NYC (and maybe a few others), DT will be able to gross up to 15% of what Maiden can draw...

Well, since the South got screwed once again, looks like I'll be flying from Jacksonville, FL to the MSG show. Never been to NYC before so I'll likely make a weekend of it. Figured if I gotta travel 1000-miles to see this show, might as well go to the one that means the most. :) -Chosen1™

Is it just me or is MSG missing from the list of shows on LiveNation's page? http://www.livenation.com/artist/iron-maiden-tickets I'm not thrilled that it's on a Monday night, but that won't stop me from going. And yes, Stephanie, if at all possible, you ticket is on me and we'll go and soak up the awesomeness together :-)

Madison Square Garden is often referred to as the worlds most famous arena, so you can see why this is such an honor and a dream come true for the band. One thing I'm wondering... Iron Maiden says they will be releasing their new album late in the summer. So I wonder if they will be playing a lot off of it, being that it looks as though the album might not even be released when they tour. I was lucky enough to see them twice during the Somewhere Back in Time tour and it was definitely one of the best concert experiences of my life, but from what they were saying back then, a lot of that stuff might not ever be played live again which makes you think they will put a lot of focus on newer stuff.

awesome news. DT in TX who'd have thunk it. thanks to DTMusicman for giving me the update. heretofore is my thought process upon reading the press release (in true fact form): [pro] DT in TX [con] as an opening act [pro] opening for Maiden! [con] no ogling Lauren Harris [pro] Maiden! [con] primarliy outdoor venues (dates are in mid TX summer) owned by Clear Channel [pro] DT/Maiden! [con] i swore i'd never ever got to another concert @ the Verison Selma shit hole ever again (Woodlands in H-town not much diff) torn. praytell Dallas peeps, what is that venue like?!? indoors?!? if so, i might try hoof it that way instead. back in the $$ days, i'd hit them all. ain't got that kinda $ anymore.

Right now SA seems the most feasible since its on the weekend and a couple of other friends work during the week....If I was employed I would have made it to a couple of shows... Hopefully I can meet some of you forumers on one of the shows...Seems like zoso is going to San Antonio and I'm almost positive Wey and Debra will be there...

Yep, MP said this in many interviews... especially RUSH is one of his and the band goals to support for them someday. I think eventually it would happen at some point. Imagine Mike and Neal doing a drum duet... now THAT would something every progfan around the world would die to see. Steve

Great news for you - lucky americans! Hoping for some DT festival dates in europe this summer! (Also, they have enough time until june to throw out an EP with a new epic and some live tracks. ) Johnny.Swift Yeah it would be cool for a DVD, if they weren't an opener. That is also my opinion. Let's face it - they'll play in front of a MAIDEN audience. A great event and a great chance for DT to reach these people - but many of them will just wait to see Maiden. I would prefer a DVD from a DT headling show (of the next tour) - from south america, because these people always freak out at concerts! And then some MSG 2010 bonus tracks... and some more bonus tracks... 2DREAM4EVER Hopefully the MSG show will be recorded for a Ytsejam release. Would be a nice 25th anniversary marker/momento. Also would appreciate that!!!

It's one of those semi-covered outdoor festival types, you know the ones that recreate the incarnate noise of banshee's furiously fucking each other in a garbage can? Yeah, that kind...lol You're more than welcome to roll here. I may hit at least 2 of them.

Awesome news! Really cool for MP and DT to have the honor to open for Iron Maiden! Have fun! Am I the only one thinking (hoping) that it may be that some (or even a lot) Iron Maiden fans WON'T appreciate DT, their music and musicianship and stuff? Even if I think that MP will create more heavy than proggy setlists I'm not really sure, if the Maiden fans will enjoy DT. But of course I hope that the Maiden fans WILL enjoy DT without a doubt...

If they'll enjoy bands like Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold then I'm pretty sure they'll appreciate Dream Theater. Just hope there's some movement on stage, they'll look like statues compared to the 50+ Irons :P
