 Mike is coalition building. He has forged close friendships with so many diverse people in the music community. I predict something truly amazing
will happen in the future because of this. Not sure what, but something big is coming.
 
I'm amazed that he could lay down all the tracks in such a short time without ever having heard a note of the music.
 
And brothers for life is something that isn't said lightly, at least not for me. They must have forged an amazing bond over this experience. Maybe
someday the guys will get the Majesty symbol to reciprocate the death bat.

Does anyone know what kit setup he used?  I wonder if its the normal 8,10,12 setup he usually has.

Just finished my drum tracks for the Avenged Sevenfold album...what an amazing and emotional experience! Me & Zacky celebrated by getting matching Death Bat tats here in the studio....
(I also went with Matt on Sat night when he got a new Death Bat tat with Jimmy's face...)

What an awesome family spirit these guys have...lotsa love! Shadows, Gates, Zacky & Johnny are now my brothers for life...hopefully this wont be the last time I play with them....

Kinda curious MP, how much creative freedom did you get over this?
We're the drum parts almost written out to the full for you to lay down, or were they just ideas that you had to run with?
And no better person could run with them, seeing you getting into the spirit of various drummers you have covered in the past when doing your side projects. Same thing apply here? Did you really feel like the Rev whilst recording if that makes sense?

This is true. Oh, and an interesting note; M. Shadows made some sort of promise/vow to never get tattoos on his hands, (maybe cause they can't be covered up by long sleeves?) So, him getting this tattoo definitely speaks volumes about his relationship with Jimmy.

Cool thing to do, big props. Couple quick questions for MP (I apologize if these have been asked before, or if you'd rather not comment)

1. How was the topic of your sobriety handled? It is still not known officially what Jimmy passed away from, but it was well known he enjoyed substances here and there. Were you seen as a breath of fresh air being that you were someone who could be seen as overcoming stuff like that, and living completely free and sober?

2. More lighthearted question: are you and the boys anticipating a large amount of new + younger fans to jump on the DT ship on this, to check out who the drummer on the new record is?

 Mike is coalition building. He has forged close friendships with so many diverse people in the music community. I predict something truly amazing will happen in the future because of this.

I hope he uses his coalition building powers to persuade John Arch to do another album or EP.  A Twist of Fate was an amazing record.

The Akerfeldt project would be cool, too.  It'd be neat to see him work with Devin Townsend, as well.

I think the driving force behind Mike doing all these projects is just that he's such a fan of all different kinds of music. 

Oh... It is just wonderful, isn't it? One of my favourite drummers of all times has helped A7X - that is one of the emotionally dearest bands for me- with the record. I remember listening to A7X together with my future wife when we first met in reality... And discussing DT with her when we sharted e-chatting. It is really, really a great loss for world music that The Rev passed away, so young, so full of creativity... Still, I believe there was no way to honour his memory greater than you Mike did. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. Faithfully. 
I don't hope that the new A7X album will be good. I just know - it's going to be awesome! 

Not a fan of this band, but I think it's extremely cool that Mike helped them out like this.  Way to go, Mike.
