Oh my......it is time. Just to start the season off on a nice rumor there has been chatter on the internet (and that is always reliable) that ABC does not want LOST to be finished after this season, even suggesting that they find some way to spin it off if they do not continue with the same cast. I would not like to see a spin off at all because most likely the original writers would not be involved. I would much prefer if they attempt anything in that nature for them to leave the 'end' in such a manner where there could possibly be one or two feature films ala X-Files (but written better)

I didn't know about that.
I wouldn't like that to happen, I just hope they end it with this season.
Look what happened to Scrubs...

No spin-off

well I guess that puts an end to that........so much for internet rumors. The article does make me anticipate the season opener even more now.

I have remained blissfully ignorant of all upcoming rumors/spoilers.  Honestly, i'm sure when the opener airs i'll be struggling to remember a bunch of details from last season.  I'm still really confused regarding the time loop stuff, but i'm just kinda along for the ride and can't wait to see how they end everything.

Anyone have a definitive site that is up to date and explains the whole time-loop story? I know they haven't revealed everything, but i could use a refresher and don't have the time to go back and watch all 5 previous seasons.

Re:"LOST" Season SIX/LAST season discussion (spoilers) - Wednesday, January 20, 2010 4:35 PM
I got into Lost last year.  I've watched all 5 season on DVD or Blu Ray.

I can not wait for this season to start, but I'm bummed I'll have to wait a week inbewteen episodes!!!!

My favorite episode of all time was in season 5, "Some Like it Hoth"  Hurley writing TESB is absolutely incredible.

I've been staying away (a little) from rumors but what do you think is gonna happen??  Did the guy Jacob was talking to find a loophole and it will all end??  Since Locke is dead, whats gonna happen to fake Locke??  What happens to the Losties in '77??

AAAAHHHHHH I can't wait!!!
A bad DT album (as if such a thing will ever exist) is 100x better than anyone elses good album.

We're going on a vacation to Oahu (the Hawaiian island where Lost is being filmed) and we heard that they were filming right in front of the hotel we're going to be staying in just last week!

We're pumped.  We've been watching every episode from the beginning and can't wait for the season to start!

(and no, we didn't choose Oahu because of Lost. But we will likely go on a Lost tour of some kind)

Right now on iTunes, they're offering a free downloads (In HD) of the pilot episodes plus an hour long recap of every season to date. Might be a nice refresher to remind yourself if you don't want to go through the entire series again.

Regarding the "unanswered questions"...  I can live with the mystery of all of them except one:   The food pallet drop with all the Dharma food that occured after the "lockdown" sequence.   Knowing what we know now about Dharma, it just doesn't seem to make any sense.  I really hope they address this.  Maaaybe a plane dropped it in the 70's and due to some weird freaky time thing it didn't land until 2004?   Maybe the Dharma offices in Ann Arbor still exist and they have no idea about the "purge" that occured 30 years ago and they think everything's fine?   And also, Kelvin.   The writers have forgotten about him, but I haven't.

I always assumed the Dharma offices just were going along as if everything were fine concerning the food drop but that is a little 'to easy' of an explanation for this show. I'm sure there is something more relevant than that concerning the drop. And being that there is such a vase amount of info. to absord I suppose I am like the writers and cannot recall 'Kelvin'. Who is he? I often forget character names after a long hiatus. Could you refresh my memory.

He was the guy that was in the Swan station before Desmond, but after Radzinsky.   He was also in the US Army in Iraq in one of Sayid's flashbacks.   We finally met Radzinsky in Dharmaville in 1977 and we know that he blew his head off down at the Swan years later, but how Kelvin gets involved is still quite a mystery.

Refresh my memory, but what happened to rousseau?
I remember by the beginning of season 4 there were two groups, those who thought the chopper was there to rescue them (Jack included), and those who thought they were there to kill them (Locke's group), and Rousseau was in Locke's group.
But then I don't remember what happened to her.

She was killed by the group of mercinaries from that boat (chopper).

Thanks Stevens for the Kelvin reminder, it all came back once you started to describe it. I really need to watch the older seasons more. I guess after the series is over I will give them all a good run through. Unlike alot of LOST fans I generally (due to lack of time) only get to watch the episodes once and just have to rely on my memory after that, and that in itself is a scary prospect. But with a show like this multiple views of an episode or even season would greatly increase understanding.

She is dead!! Same scene as when Alex was captured by the people on "not penny's boat" if I remember rightly!

I already started, and yet there are so many things that some get missed (like the one I asked above)
I'm on Season 5 Episode 10

I highly recommend the Blu-Ray collection, beside having it on SuperB quality, the Bonus Features are so interesting.
One pops out, there was a scene where Australia was the location, but they filmed it in LA, and they didn't have enough right driver seat cars, so they took a left driver seat car and inverted the film negative, so they had to change everything backwards.

I am more than ready for the season to start.  I have failed miserably in trying to avoid the temptation of spoilers or rumors.  I need a weekly Lost fix to purge the need to find what ever I can.  I shouldn't complain though,  there are far worse things to be addicted to, haha.

I have been reading so many theories lately that its almost getting confusing as to whats happened on the show and what people just want to have happen.

February 2 is my birthday... and I have to go to class that day. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I can´t wait, I guess I´ll have to download the show for a few months until my class is over.

As for theories about the show, I definitely need to know who Jacob´s nemesis is. That was some weird shit right there. Are Widmore and Hawking working for the guy? Is he the Smoke Monster? I guess we´ll have to wait.

BTW, Season 5 finale:

Best. Season. Ending. EVER!!!!

I was wrong on damn near every guess/prediction I ever made about this show, so I'm not going to try anymore.  I am very ready to have my ass kicked by LOST again.  I'm not so concerned with little things like Kelvin and the food drop (although if they don't touch on the food drop that WILL be kind of a WTF moment.)  I just want the bigger answers - why is Richard ageless, whats up with Jacob and Not-Locke?  What is the smoke monster?  Whats up with the statue?  I'm ready, dammit!

I can't think of anyting funny right now.

Anyone do the Final Season Sweepstakes?

The prize is a message in a bottle with a USB drive containing instructions to access approximately five minutes of the LOST Season 5 finale and a portion of the first episode of LOST Season 6.  Only 815 made.

Look for Season 6 of Lost. Obviously there should be no episodes here.
But wait! There are seven!

Try that link out and see what happens. But otherwise, just look for LOST in the TV section and they should all be there in Season 6. In fact, in the Canadian store, it's one of the featured downloads. (A limited Time offer)

The reason you can't remember her death is because it was quite easily the most pointless, sudden death in the show. It just happened. I was so bummed out, she was one of the most interesting characters for me.

despite my love to LOST, I laughed at this:

That was pretty funny! The fact the producers played along was pretty funny as well.

Yeah, it started at terrible and stayed there.

I could cry, I have never watched a season as it aired on TV, but i finally was caught up for this one.

And of course it airs on tuesday nights, the nights I have hockey, and my hockey carries through March so there is no hope, and I am not buying TIVO.

I will have to wait a while and really shut off my ears.....damn.

Sounds like a plan to me...there are so many little details and minor plot points i'm sure i've forgotten from the earlier seasons.  Hell, i can barely keep up w/the story now, let alone remember details from 3 or 4 years ago.

this is not a knock on anyone but i don't get how people are lost when it comes to the main plot points up to this point? every episode last season told you when things were taking place.

maybe its because theres so much thats going on and its screws people up? I mean not all of us can think LOST all day and try to retain it week after week.

But I read the recaps of every episode after its done the whole week, so I am prepared for the next episode. Yah I have no life :(

Re-watching the whole thing was one of the best things I did recently. Everything made a lot more senses and you actually realize that they do answer questions and that Lost is in fact and awesome show. I still have to watch Season 5 all over again, but I still got time.

I have yet to re-watch any season and have only watched maybe 2 or 3 episodes twice. It is just difficult to find the time to re-watch the season. But after reading post after post about how rewatching the season after it is finished helps bring things back into perspective I think that after the series ends I have came to the conclusion that I will:
                                        A. Buy a Blu Ray DVD player
                                        B. Buy the entire LOST series on Blu Ray and start all over next winter some time
It's intrigued me after reading thread upon thread about Blu Ray DVD's. Are they that incredible? Plus I figure come Christmas Season the LOST Producers will have the series available with all the bells and whistles ready to go.

They re-aired the Season 5 season finale last night (at least they did here).

I forgot that Jacob got stabbed and then rolled into the file near the end...

Big question is "who was the 2nd Locke? Or did he somehow twist time so there were 2 instances of him?  (I don't think that they want to take it in this direction though...  Would be weird (an un-original). Maybe they are making an exception because the one instance was dead.

I was always under the impression that the 2nd Locke, Jack's Dad, Ben's daughter.....all the dead but now alive people that have appeared on the island were the mystery man dressed in black that was on the beach with Jacob that told him that he wanted to kill him and would find a way.

Not that big of a question at all.  Remember at the beginning of the episode where Jacob and the other guy are on the beach and the other guy says "You know how badly I want to kill you...  one day I'll find a loophole"   And then at the end when Ben and Fake Locke go into the statue and Jacob says to fake Locke "I guess you found your loophole"   Well, if you can't remember details in ONE episode, how did you ever make it through this whole series?

I want to know this:  Is the smoke monster the same as the dead-but-still-around people?  I think yes.  Remember when Locke and Ben went into the temple for ben to face his judgement?  You never saw any copmbination of smokey, Locke, or his daughter together.  First Ben fell, Locke disappeared, then smokey showed up, then it went away and the daughter appeared, then Locke came back.  And the daughter told him to do exactly what Locke wanted.  And think about this:  when Ben "called" smokey to attack the soldiers, it did his bidding and he said he would have to pay a price.  His price was to do Locke's bidding later.  Locke (well, the not-Locke from most of season 5) = smokey.

Also, when Ekko died his brother made an appearance right in between Smokey appearances.

I just wanna know what the fuck this smoke monster thing is!!!
I can't think of anyting funny right now.

I'm certainly hoping the producers include this as one of the things we will learn in the final season. I have always believed that the smoke monster/dead persons were one in the same. It's like that monster or whatever has the ability to morph into anything it desires all the while knowing the mind and thoughts of anyone it chooses in order to make it possible for it to manipulate them. Kate and the horse, Hurley with the bald imaginary friend. All the smoke monster just effin' with people IMO.

I think with this theory in mind it seems likely that the smoke monster/evil Jacob's rival dude can only take the form of people who have died on the island. Specifically Yemi, Christian, Alex and now Locke. If this is true, then it explains why Ben was manipulated into bringing John Locke back to the island, once his dead body was there, Smokey could take his form. If this is true, the set up for it has existed since Season 2 with Yemi, and I just find that freakin' sweat.
I was saying boo-urns.

Thanks for the explanation though!

Maybe that's why the Others wanted him so desperately and why they made such a big deal about him being 'special'.

SPOILERS
There just been an ad on the radio for the new season and some very interesting dialog:
Locke: 'It's time to answer the most important question in the world.'
Jack (might have been Ben): 'What question is that?'
Locke: 'Why are you on this island.'
Something along them lines.

I still have a hope of seeing what happened to Charlotte after she died.  She died way in the past when the statue was standing, which is I'm assuming when Jacob and his rival were on the island together and they found her (or maybe found by the boat that was just coming there).

Yeah I think Charlotte is going to play a good role in the mystique of the island somehow.  I'm still wondering if the answer to the question 'What lies in the shadow of the statue, He/that which will save/protect us all", can relate to her at all being that whe died in view of the statue and it would cast a rather large shadow. Or is it the dead Locke? Or simply something we haven't seen yet? Interesting. It is also interesting that the season has yet to air and we are closing in on a third page for the thread already.

Just got my message in a bottle today!
ABC actually sent me two for some reason (hello eBay!)

On the USB drive I got to watch a short clip of what happened after the bomb went off.
But I won't tell.

But, here's the piece of paper that came with it (SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT!)
