The other day I finally realized the connection between the cork to the wine bottle and the cork in the cave. It was obvious, but that random thought about Lost made me feel happy. This show feels like an ex to me now. It didn't end how I quite wanted, but I'll never let go of the memories. I can't wait to get the series box set and cuddle up in my bed with a box of chocolates and reminisce about the good times.

I thought the cork represented the Island and it keeping his brother MIB on the island. Of course I was thinking how I was so wrong all season. It's funny. The first rumor I heard was it was like a pugatory right when the show first started. Should have listened. I could have saved the hours of my life....................... I did enjoy it. Ending not so much.

LeChuck Hurley will appear on the upcoming new Weezer album. Sort of. My Brother pointed this news out to me the other day. Brilliant. "I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn't really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia -- it just had this amazing vibe. We didn't want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as 'the Hurley record' even if we left it without that title, so we just called it 'Hurley.' No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face" That part made me laugh.

Me too. And I just realized some of the unexplained answers are somewhat explained during the show. For example, it took me a while (with some extra help) that the electromagnetism spillover during The Incident was the cause of the pregnancy issues. It took me sometime also to realize why Walt is so special.

You know, I feel like an idiot. Just read a comment online about how they basically laid out for us what the polar bears were to be used for. They were being trained to turn the donkey wheel so that a person wouldn't have to do it, they could withstand the cold, and they were certainly strong enough. Couple that idea with the fact that they found a polar bear's remains in the desert where Ben was transported once he turned the wheel and it seems quite obvious. How this was all overlooked is beyond me.

It should be) That really is so simple to see and put together....and like you said the fact that not one of us ever mentioned that 'theory' is even crazier being that we all collectively had some doozie's... While living with mom and stepdad, he was reading a book and came across a picture of a bird. He tried showing it to stepdad, who wasn't paying attention. Walt yelled to him "Look at this" (or something like that), and at that moment the same kind of bird crashed into their window. There was another time when he was with Locke, who was teaching how to throw a knife. Walt wasn't doing very well until Locke told him to visualize what he wanted to do in his mind. Walt next throw was perfect. Those are the two that I recall.

The big plothole that still makes me laugh is the fact that in Season 5, there's the scene with "Christian" in the barracks with Sun and Frank. There's no problem with this, except that we later learn that this is obviously MIB. At the same time as this, MIB was with Ben in another location.

Raymitox Well, because Walt has the ability to manifest his thoughts into reality. But I thought we all got that part? I thought the question was WHY Walt could do that. Within the mythology of the show, how was that possible?
The problem is, or rather one of the problems, for there are many, a sizable number of which are continually clogging up the civil, commercial, and criminal courts in all areas of the Galaxy, and especially, where possible, the more corrupt ones, this.

SO now that the show is over... does anybody have recommendations for a follow up? I'm dying for another serialized show, and I'm coming up empty. We've recently seen: Carnivale Lost The Prisoner Party Down (criminally overlooked, HILARIOUS show) Weeds True Blood Mad Men Breaking Bad (superior to Mad Men, IMO) Being Human Misfits Curb Dexter West Wing Torchwood The Wire Shield Deadwood that can't be ALL the good shows there ever were? but I cant' find much more that's halfway intelligent. As frustrating as the finale to Lost might have been, the show was very well done. (yes we've seen Buffy and Angel too. I'm over it)

We've recently seen: *snip* (yes we've seen Buffy and Angel too. I'm over it) Well, Buffy and Angel woulda been my first options. Battlestar Galatica is another good, serious long term show. I love Doctor Who and Warehouse 13, but IMHO they are a lot less serious than a show like Lost. @Rane - Holy crap! That makes perfect sense. Nice. Thanks for sharing it. @Skip - I was one of the people who thought the Island was purgatory back in season 1, but I don't feel cheated at all. The only thing that was in a purgatory / after life before moving on type of place was the "flash sideways" in the final season. The rest of the show wasn't. I probably shouldn't, but I just know I'm going to break down and buy the big ol' box set when it comes out the end of this month. I've been holding off on buying any of the individual seasons for just this reason.

We also recently tried to get back into Veronica Mars and Wonderfalls (2 great shows back in the day), and both me and my wife kept getting really irritated with the whole high school thing and being all dark and cynical when you have so much.! Which of course is exactly how I was in high school :D

goncalo_viola The same way Miles could hear the dead. I don't buy it. I always figured Miles could hear the dead because he was born and somewhat raised on an island that bends time. So people's last moments could kinda waft through time and he'd pick them up. At least it fits in with the presented mythology of the island. Spontaneous psychic manifestation or whatever you could call it does not appear in the slightest to be a corruption of time. So no, I don't see those two as being comparable, and thus my question still is my question. Sarcophage, there's always Buffy and Angel again. Haha. And Firefly, but that won't keep you busy long. Doctor Who is fantastic. New, old, half-animated, whatever. Doctor 11 kicks the Tenth Doctor's butt, though. Might just be the writing, but who knows. And that leaves the best television series of all time, not a very serialized one, especially not at first, but brilliant and wholly entertaining in every way: The Justice League. Balls yeah.
The problem is, or rather one of the problems, for there are many, a sizable number of which are continually clogging up the civil, commercial, and criminal courts in all areas of the Galaxy, and especially, where possible, the more corrupt ones, this.

I'd put Hurley and Walt in the same category, sure. Ha. Naw, comparing Hurley and Miles shows what I'm thinking, I guess. Miles seems like the "realistic" version of talking to the dead, if you will. Hurley is the "cinematic" one or something. Miles's kinda makes sense, but Hurley's never really does. At least for me. And again, with Desmond, I figured that came from the island. Just being zapped with it enough. But again, that's in keeping with what the island throws at people. Anyways, just having some fun. This is the first time I've given Lost much of any thought since I saw that letdown of a finale. Kinda miss a lot of the early mystery, but that is just about how every show seems to go.

Doctor 11 kicks the Tenth Doctor's butt, though. Might just be the writing, but who knows. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Another unfortunately named show. lol. I know several people who were turned off from ever watching Buffy because of the name. I get why Joss Whedon named it that, but... its unfortunate that a lot of people got the wrong idea and never watched it. (The movie didn't help, either. ) As for Doctor Who... I agree the last season was awesome and I do think a lot of it was the writing. I'm a HUGE David Tennant fan and I was so nervous about Matt Smith being so young. But he ended up really surprising me. I found myself one day thinking "ZOMG, do I actually like the 11th Doctor better than the 10th?! How can that be?" ... but I think that was due to Matt Smith being given (overall) a lot better writing to work with. Sorry... now back to your previously scheduled Lost discussion.

Chris Hinton Here is the most interesting theory I've read on the nature of the Island. There are a couple points that kinda stretch, but most of it makes sense. interesting read.....definately a plausible theory, very well thought out and explained. It'll be neat to have that in the back of my mind when I decide to revisti the series and watch it over. Thanks for the article!

So I'm re-watching the show for the first time AFTER seeing the finale... the show kind of takes on a whole other light now. Currently in the middle of season three... Oh, nos, teh others!

It's on the official ABC Lost page, so yes, you can post a link to it.

^ Absolutely hilarious! I would love to hear those characters do a commentary of the whole series.

Dr Rambo ^ Absolutely hilarious! I would love to hear those characters do a commentary of the whole series. That would be cool if they released 4 or 5 of these type of things a year.....comedically explaining away some of the ridiculous things they had us all hooked on. They totally just ripped on everyone for making such a big deal out of what the MIB's name was, and the time travel stuff.... Pretty funny.
