I'm down 8.6 pounds since Jan. 4th.  I'm definitely happy with that especially being that I lost an entire week of working out b/c I had a bad cold.  I normally try to lost about 2 pounds a week as I don't have a tremedous amount that I have to lose.

Nice job with the weight loss guys. I'm hoping to continue my losses this week as well! I have a ways to go.

I didn't make it to the gym this morning. I decided to get some rest and make breakfast for the family.

On someone's next shoulder day, you should open your workout with this:

Go to the dumbell rack and choose the heaviest dumbells that you can do 8-10 lateral raises with.  Starting with that weight, do 8 reps of lateral raises.  Then immediately place them down, select the next lower weight dumbells and do 8 reps.  Do this all the way down the rack.  Then rest about 60 seconds and do it again from the top.  Maybe do it a third time if you're feeling frisky.  This is a great set for opening a shoulder day.
Schlop! Schlop!  Beautiful Schlop!  Beautiful Schlop with a cherry on top!

I got back to the gym after not being there for 3 weeks because of exams. It felt great! But unfortunately my arms hurt now... :D

Luckily during the exams period I watched my diet carefully so I even lost weight. I weigh now 67 KG.

Week 5 Day 1! - Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and Abs! I will probably feel this one quite a bit tomorrow but we'll see. But that was pretty tough this morning and I really am able to push even more now. I am hardly using the bands now, I've got some free weights and over time that will improve as well. Loving this! BRING IT!!!

Hey Progrator, I noticed on the Classic one that I'm doing, that starting Week 5 (this Monday) that there are 3 days a week where they have an AM and PM workout. Are you going to do the doubles or just stick to the normal? I'm going to sit down tonight and decide what to do as I'm not sure yet.

Well I'm doing Lean and i don't have any doubles, the reason I chose to do the Lean program is because it's a little easier, a bit more cardio. My goal is to complete the Lean, take a 2 week rest and then do the Classic this summer. I didn't want to push myself to hard on the first try. But hey if you could do it the more power to you! I'll be able to compare both programs as well.

I didn't lose any weight this week, I kinda cheated this weekend but not too much, I'm not worried cause this week I'll push myself even more. Week 5 seems cool!! Can't wait for tonight, Core Syn!

BTW Excellent job dude!!

Long time since I posted in this thread.

Today's gonna be the shittiest of all workout days: LEGS
For some reason, my legs tend to ache longer than any other part of my body after a workout.
That + looking like you just took a dump in your pants while you're trying to walk afterwards makes me despise those damn squats and leg extensions.

What's your least favorite workout?

I don't like the cardio workouts as much as the weights

I enjoy chest workouts most I guess

Progator, after speaking to my friend that did this 3 times in a row, he said doubles aren't necessary and he suggested I skip them all together. I'm going to take his advice and just stick to the Classic minus any doubles. Thanks for the congrats, you and I both know you earn every inch and lb in this program, LOL!!!

Plyo X was this morning, whew, that one always gets me.

Enjoy Core Syn, it's a beast but fun!!!

Not sure whether I have a cold on the way

Decided to do only weights this morning as cardio with a sore throat is a great way to get a full blown cold

Went to the gym the past 2 days, which was the first time in a loooong time.  I've had a personal trainer once a week for a year (and still do) but I'm so beat up after every session that it takes me 3 days to recover.  Add to that, I massage people 6 days a week.  I just hadn't found the motivation to get back in the gym.  Hopefully it sticks this time.

The weather has been nasty here in TX.  I haven't been able to go outside and run like I should.  I'm considering breaking down and buying a membership at the local gym.

It doesn't, but it is supposedly open really early in the morning.  It would be worth it to beat the traffic and get a workout before it's time to go to work!

Lots of legs this morning, which was great! Painful, but great!

Diet has been pretty whacked lately, so I gained a pound this week. Need to focus more on doing better here.

I wouldn't worry too much about this, I've done it too, I just do the rest maybe on the Sunday. It's a long workout and honestly if you could get to the 43 minute mark, once you're done all your vinyasas then you've done the hard work! The rest is easier since it's mostly balance postures.

I did Chest Shoulders Triceps yesterday, holy crap, is it me or some of those pushups are freakin hard. I will need to practice them this weekend! I loved it though!! You're doing well with just doing single sessions.

Keep it up everyone!! Bring it mofos!!

Legs, Back and Abs done... whew!!!

I'm going to state an obvious thing here to a lot of people but... now that I've gone from 98% of the P90X moves with free weights instead of the resistance bands that I started out with, everything is just so much harder. I'm more wiped out than before but it's awesome! It really makes me have to work that much harder and the results are going to speak for themselves in time.

Hey folks I need some advice from you. I need to loos a few pounds so I´d like to know what your typical meal looks like.

Nothing too extreme please I just need to get some inspiration for my cooking routine.
I do not work out apart from push ups and cycling (when the snow disappears again)

I already cut back eating sweets and fast food but I still use the frying pan way too often I guess. I want to eat less fatty...any ideas?

Chicken breasts, skinless, boneless
Turkey - turkey breasts, lean stuff

Those are key to eat a lot of. You can have red meat but in moderation. Load up on Turkey, Chicken, Veggies and fruits.

Hello all. I've recently been inspired to get into better physical shape (not that I'm in poor shape now...5'11", 165 lbs), but I would like to lose a bit off my gut and increase my upper body. Within the last week, I've found a few good dumbbell routines that address what I'm looking for and I started the first one today. Feeling pretty good so far.

Hey folks I need some advice from you. I need to loos a few pounds so I´d like to know what your typical meal looks like.

Eat more beans & lentils.
Make interesting salads (Add things like tuna, beans, berries, apples, eggs, etc. to a) get proteins and b) keep it interesting.  Eat said salads as the entire meal.
As much as possible, start your day with exercise and a healthy breakfast.  Makes the whole day healthier and better.
Shop for groceries right after exercising, so that you think "I better not waste what I just did by eating crap"
When you have a sweet craving, eat cereal.  Salty craving - pita w/ home-made hummus, whole grain crackers with all-natural peanut butter, etc.
Get in the habit of purposefully walking down the crap aisle in the grocery store (chips/coke/candy) and not taking anything off the shelf.

Yesterday lunch I mixed up a quick salad of chopped apple, kidney beans, hardboiled egg, some snap peas, a bit of sharp cheddar and some red onion.  Mixed up a quick (yet healthy) yoghurt/dijon mustard dressing and loved every bite.

p.s. good on everyone that's sticking to a program that works for them here.  It's kept me honest a few days this winter to read some of the successes.

Now off to play some squash - Possibly the best cardio I can recommend, even when I run, bike, swim, and play soccer the rest of the week...
You got the wrong guy. I'm the Dude, man.

Wanted to get a workout in this weekend, but had class all day Saturday, then a night out with my wife. It was a late night and I imbibed a bit, so getting up for an early workout this morning was not an option. Today we are going out to lunch and then to see the monster trucks with my wife's family. Then I have to come home and do homework and go to bed. I'm a little disappointed in myself because I had a clear chance this morning but blew it by indulging last night. But what's done is done, so I'll move on. I'm already back on track by having my normal breakfast (protein shake and fiber bar).

Good session this morning. High rep sets of chest and back with tri and bi supersets in between. Had some good bike time and finished with some ab work. Not the most strenuous workout, but I went heavy on the weight and was struggling toward the end, so that's good.

Starting to get a little frustrated.

This week was a little tough with all of the snow, but I would think that spending 1 to 1 1/2 hours shoveling  for 2-3 days should qualify as a workout (might even be a better workout than what I've been doing).  I only missed one day the whole week, which I wrote off as a didn't-have-it/rest day.  I'm doing weight training + pilates/core/cardio.  I've been eating well - not perfect, but well.

And yet, I'm not losing any weight.

I have found that I'm thisclose to fitting into a lesser-sized pair of jeans, which would be a nice milestone.

I guess I just expected to drop a few lb's as well.

Don't let the scale frustrate you. Base your progress on how you feel and how your clothes fit. Weight varies greatly based on many factors, so don't let it get you down if you feel like you are putting in the effort. Just keep it up!
I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent.

Nutrition is 70% of your results. Awesome website

Aredore, I know you've got a Polar HR Monitor, but I'm a little suspicious of your "calories burned". My 1-hour outdoor run (at a fairly strenuous pace) barely hits 600 calories. Also, how many calories are in your recovery drink?

Hey I'm not taking it for 100% accuracy either. But I know I burned A LOT of calories because this is high intensity stuff! 220 calories in the recovery drink.

I don't really worry about the actual number, it's more of a gauge. If I'm in the same range every week or more, then I know I'm pushing it and that's what matters most.

And yes Nutrition is the main thing. If you eat like crap and work out, it won't matter at all.

Terrific mixed session today including Cardio

Now the weights sessions seem to be going well, I need to up the cardio and reduce the weights to get the old balance back and avoid a recurrance of the injury

Change up your routine and cross train (different kinds of cardio and weights) so that you avoid the chance of overuse injuries.

All good, aredore, I'm really loving the fact that you're still super enthusiastic about this. Keep it up!

Yoga X done!!! My Yoga this week was MUCH MUCH better. I felt really confident and pushed through it and a few times I wanted to slack but I pushed on. Of course like I said last week, lack of sleep really made me feel like that was part of the issue but the other part was mentally not focused. Yesterday was very frustrating at work and I *REALLY* needed a good hard and relaxing Yoga session this morning. This was great timing!

Spaceman... here's the thing. I *don't* know what to do in the gym and I can't afford a trainer. All I know is treadmill and ellyptical and basic weight stuff. Now that this program is teaching me everything, it's exactly what I need to stay motivated. Before I'd get frustrated and burn out because I had no one to push me, no one to keep me motivated, no one there and doing the same thing over and over, meh... you get the idea.

But with P90X I get a diff workout every day and every 4th week, the routine is completely different. The pattern is basically 3 weeks workout A, 4th week is deemed "recovery week" but there's still a lot going on. Then the next 3 weeks is workout B, then 4th week again is recovery week.

So this for me works and does exactly what I need. Once I get through this program at least 3 rounds then I'm going to look at the other programs and keep on track with my Coach and friend. So I've got everything finally lined up on how to finally have the healthy lifestyle I want and I'm actually enjoying it.

I have not eaten anything friend since 1-10-10!!! My body feels AMAZING and mentally I'm in such a zone, this is just unreal!!!

I started a Biggest Loser competition here at work. I thought it would just be a couple of peeps, but we got 32 contestants, and a pot of $800. Not too shabby. Weigh in was Monday, and it goes until May 14th. There will then be a Maintenance Contest for the following 3 months with prizes to be determined by the big boss, likely some PTO.

Good times.

At the moment, I am doing some stretching at the end of my workout given to me as homework by the physio

I think it is just a minor ache, probably caused by too big a jump in weights added to the deadlift

If Katz reads this thread or someone else, he put a muffin recipe, I'd like to try it out. It's in last years thread but it would take a while to find I'm guessing since it had a lot of pages, yeah I know I'm lazy.

At the moment I have Cookies and Cream flavoured whey, but I will probably get bored of it. However, it does make it acceptable. Mixing in a little milk also helps but too much reacts with the fibre to make it too thick

I have set myself a draconian Lent fast

During weekdays, I am having three of those shakes a day and nothing else

I estimate that it equates to 1200 calories a day, adding in the milk in tea and coffee during the day

at weekends, I will be having two a day and a family meal in the evening

If that does not shake off some weight, nothing will

Today is my Rest day but I might not rest. Might have a friend or two over to put them through Plyo X to try and get them hooked on this program...

I just posted the following on my Facebook page and wanted to share it with the group:

6 weeks ago I wore Dockers that were a size 44 with the expandable stretch waist bands. This morning I put on a pair of size 42 Dockers, no stretchable waist band. I'm telling you P90X combined with Proper Nutrition WORKS. Again, that's just in 6 weeks, 7 more to go for Round 1, then I start Round 2. By October of this... year, you won't recognize me, I promise you that.

6 weeks ago, size 44 jeans, this morning size 42 jeans! BRING IT!!!

------------------

This morning was a HUGE mental and emotional boost to me. Being able to put on these Dockers again is just awesome!!!

I bought a pair of 30 lb weights yesterday as well. Going to try and up my weights used this week.

BRING IT!!!
