I'm not sure you remember me. It has been quite a while since my last visit.
A couple of months ago I finally managed to get started with this project. Since age of 12 or so I've been wanting to draw Mike because I think he's awesome and an huge inspiration in many ways. However, I never really got the time and energy to get started because of several health issues I have (had).
Anyway, for as long as I can remember I've been listening to Dream Theater, to find comfort and understanding, to make me feel better whenever I had a bad day.
So my idea was to do something in return and to show my appreciation and respect.
I wanted to take this drawing with me to a DT show in the Netherlands on October 7th this year so I could give it to Mike himself. In the end I couldn't go because of previously said health problems.
That's the reason why it took me so long to finish this. Yet I wanted to get this drawing done by the end of this year, as some sort of gift. So last couple of days I grabbed my pencils and paper and worked very hard until my fingers felt numb. I think the overall time I spent in this sketch is about 40 to 70 hours, which makes this the largest project I've ever done so far.

Anyway, Mike, if you get to read this:
I truly hope that you like it. I tried to interpret you as the Philosopher, the mad Genius and the devoted Musician you are.
I hope to show this to you personally someday. (It looks better in real life.)
